Now that we are seriously considering buying ( we already have all the sales material etc. from disney) Which would be better?? Anew BCV or a boardwalk resale?? On one of our trips--3 years back we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn and went through the tour and "sales pitch" at the BWV. We really liked that location--however we have never stayed at the beach club area or seen BCV at all. ONe of my questions is where is it located?? I am imagining it on the other side of the YC. Is this correct? Can you walk to Epcot from BCV?? Also is there any benifits to buying directly from Disney?? As far as the resorts go--which is nicer-what are the comparisons etc??

ANy help is always appreciated--thank you

We are BWV owners and purchased from Disney. BCV did not exist 5 years ago when we purchased. We bought BWV because of the location. We liked being able to walk to Epcot and MGM.

Today we may have chosen BCV as the location is very similar to BWV, though not as close to MGM.

Purchsing from Disney has its advatages, no closing costs and if you do MB you should pay somewhere around $74. Also, if you decided to finance through Disney, this purchase will not show up on your credit report. Which could be important if you are planning to purchase a house or anything else in the near future.

thanks for the advice.. How does it not show up on your credit report?? Is it concidered a "mortgage" or a loan??

if you do MB you should pay somewhere around $74.

I am sure you already know that you have to forfeit your first year's points to get $74.....you can't use $74 to compare to a resale.

You probably already knew that.

Disney just doesn't report. The only time they will report is when you are late or otherwise deliquent. It is a mortgage and it does not show up.

I just wanted to mention, that Disney has been purchasing a LOT of resales back lately... If your resale price isn't AT LEAST $70/point, don't expect Disney to allow the sale to go forward... Also, when you purchase resale, there are closing costs of about 400.00 & it takes 3 or 4 weeks to close (at least)...

If you purchase through Disney, you can make reservations the day you give your deposit.... financing is easy also... But, the current rate is $84.00/point.... They'll knock $10.00 off per point IF you sell your first years points back... That's potentially one good thing about a resale, it might have current points with it... then it becomes very attractive...

The BCV's are to the left of the current Beach club (I think there used to be tennis courts there)... It is about the same distance walk to EPCOT as BWV's (I thought so anyways)... Go take a look at the 360 degree photos on the www.disneyvacationclub.com website, that will give you a great idea which resort you like best...

BCV are MUCH closer to Epcot then BWV. I could be inside Epcot in under 5 minutes from BCV and it took around 5-10 from BWV. Both properties are very nice.

BCV does have what I consider a better pool. (I am not fond of the clown!) That might be a consideration if you have kids.

The Disney mortgage info. does not go on your credit report unless you become delinquent in your payments to Disney-if you finance. This can be very beneficial if you are planning on making any major purchases-house, etc.

Good luck with your decision.

I LOVE the pool at BCV but one more thing to think about . . . BWV has "standard view" rooms available which take up less points than BCV - which are all "preferred view." BCV is my home resort (b/c of that pool!) but I am usually able to book a BWV standard view when I'm short on points (usually thru waitlisting). That may change though . . . Have fun - can't go wrong with either!!

We just bought at BCV last year and took our first trip home last week. We LOVED BCVs. The pool is great, we loved Beaches and Cream (the little 50's diner), the close walk to Epcot, just everything! We went over the BW to visit and pool hop. It was nice, but after visiting, DH and I both said we were so happy to have BCV as our home resort. It just is more to our liking (although we also like VWL, but after visiting there, I said that I still like BCV the best--but want to stay at VWL sometime).

Buying from Disney is VERY easy and goes very smooth! With the MB program and sales winding down for BCV, I would recommend buying there, and quickly! I just wish I could afford about 50-100 more points!

The BCV has a nicer pool, is a closer walk to Epcot. BCV is kind of between the BC hotel and Epcot. It is not on the other side of the YC.

BWV are probably cheaper, are not THAT far of a walk from Epcot...maybe another 5 minutes...have the "standard view" option, which is less points if you an get it, is a closer walk to MGM, doesn't have as nice of a pool, and is a smidge closer to the stuff on the Boardwalk itself than BC is.

IMHO, the biggest deal-breaker would be the pool. The other pros and cons kind of cancel each other out. If you are really into Stormalong Bay, then go for the BCV, because you cannot pool hop there from the BWV, and there is no other pool in all of WDW that compares to SAB. If the pool is not a huge issue for you one way of the other, go for whichever is cheaper, because they are the same level of niceness and quality.

This may not be important to others, but it was too me! At the BCV you can get to a couple resturants (Cape May Cafe and Beaches and Cream) with OUT walking out side. This became very important for us last Sept when we were getting ready to leave for Epcot and find a place to eat and a HORRIBLE downpour started! So, we just went to the Cape May Cafe for dinner instead! It was great and I am very glad we got to try it!

To get to a resturant at the Boardwalk, you would have to walk outside on to the Boardwalk and get wet! But, there are more choices of places to eat at the Boardwalk.

Also, there is not a Character meal at the BW, there is a Character breakfast at the BC.

You will be happy with either choice I am sure!!!

the BCV's. Yes I am partial to BCV's. My DW and I bought there last year, it is a great resort, the rooms are very nice ( as I am sure all DVC resorts are ), close to Epcot and MGM. You can still walk around the lake to enjoy BWV''s, and you will probably have a sale go through quicker buying BCV's then a resale. Either way you will be buying into some great memories down the road....good luck !!

I am trying to make the same decision right now. We have stayed at the Boardwalk and know we love it there, but the pool at the Beach Club is just calling me! Do all of the rooms in the BCV have balconies? (full balconies or at least enough for 2 people) How are the views at BCV? Is there a greater chance of an Epcot view at the BCV rather than the BWV? I have a few months to make my decision. We will probably buy in the Fall. :Pinkbounc

If you are considering BCV buy it soon. I just added on there and I had to waitlist for a September use year.
I own at BW and BCV and OKW. Of all of these I like BW the least. Now there is nothing wrong with BW but I do love the restaurants at the BCV, Cape May, Beaches and Cream, and don't forget the Yacht Club's Galley restaurant which is very good IMO. I like to eat my breakfast in but if I want to go out I have three choices in this resort.

On another track, I wonder if anybody has found a one bdrm that allows Illuminations view without overlooking the road behind the resort.
