NOW post and share your digital pics!! Great photos inside:)

I am still trying to figure the camera out. I guess I can't get out of that point and shoot mode. I still seem to get blurry pictures, but I love ya'lls pictures. :worship:

I got the S2 IS right before Christmas. So far I like it a lot.

Question for your pros out there...how do I get the continuous shooting to work? I know you can set the camera so it will take picture after picture (less of a lag). Even though I think I followed the instructions, I can't get it into continuous mode. Any suggestions?

To change to continuous shooting mode you have to push the button next to the zoom control. It has what looks like three pictures stacked on top of each other and a timer symbol. It is also the timer button. Push the button til you see either the 3 pictures symbol or the 3 pictures symbol with an H on top of it at the top of the LCD just right of center. That will put the camera in continuous shooting mode. Check on page 62 in the manual.

Did you do the half-press (pre-focus) before taking the picture or did you just pressed the button all the way? That may be the problem (if you pressed it all the way).

I have learned that with this camera you have to push the shoot button down halfway and listen for it to beep before capturing the photo. This focuses the lens. I just did the point-and-shoot thing and mine were coming out blurry. I read in the manual to do the halfway down thingy. I hope this helps.

I just bought myself a little A520, but the S2 IS has me drooling.

I would have no justification to buy it except ... I am going to Italy in April.

It is great that so many people have chosen the Canon S2 IS. I would like to suggest that we not make picture sharing manufacturer specific. I would much rather see someone post a thread about a location, subject, shooting style and have everyone post their pictures along with any technical details you feel are relevant. This way we can learn the concepts of photography without getting bogged down in the technology.

I do think that photos can be shared in a discussion of a specific camera model to assist in identifying differences in picture quality when changes are made to camera settings which seems to make more sense.

I would hate to see someone miss out on some of these great photos because they don't think to look in a thread about a specific camera brand.

I took this with my Canon S30 Digital of DW and DD.

Here is one of my favorites from my first Disney Cruise in November.

This was a 2 second exposure with a wide angle lens just after sunset with the camera mounted on a tripod of the Wonder. The weather cooperated nicely.

I ended up sending three 13" x 19" prints to the Captain and Staff Captain who I saw frequently every time the ship was porting. They kept one each and signed the third and sent it back to me. The Chief Engineer saw it in the Captain's office and asked for a print of his own. I obliged. :goodvibes

One word. Wow.

Say, did you take this while it was docked at Nassau? Please tell me no! We were on that cruise last month and I KICKED myself for not thinking of going out on the dock and taking a night picture of that ship!
