i'd like to say France or some place exotic but i'd be lying... really "Amish land" near my house but a yankee house ( as in non amish, not north of the mason/dixon)

Got up a little early this morning and was rewarded with a great sunrise over Boston Harbor. I could have stayed longer, but I had to get to work:

Is it just me?

But there seem to be some serious dust issues.

A friend's birthday cake(s). And they tasted delicious, too! :thumbsup2
(Sorry about the coffee cup in the background - had to take a quick photo before the vultures hit!)

Yum! (Too bad there's not a drooling smilie) Great photo. I didn't even notice the coffee cup until I read your comment.

Nope, not you. I did a sensor swip about a month ago, but it was my first time doing it. got just about everything on the first swipe from right to left on the top, but on the second swipe on the bottom going left to right I didn't get a good swipe and missed about 5 specs. Since you can only use each side of the swipe once and it was the first time doing it I decided to close up the camera and wait for next time. Most of them time the remaining specs don't show up. This is one of the few when it does. I'll have to do another swipe again. Since that first swipe I haven't gotten any new specs, so that is a good thing.

I took this castle photo on Tuesday night. I was quite pleased - my best nightime castle shot to date. I was in a hurry, it was 10:30 and my family was CRANKY and ready to go home!!! I used the first trash can to the right (when facing the castle) as a tripod.

Awesome shot, and kinda spooky, too! Peter Pan and Wendy really look like they are flying as you can't see the supports.

Thank you!

I like to BELIEVE that it really is Wendy and Peter! I am sure I felt Tinkerbelle fly past my ear when I was taking the photo!!!!

Well done Martha!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Thanks Kyle...

I should have posted this one with my castle picture. My mother and I waited in the rocking chairs on the porch of the store next to Haunted Mansion while DD and DGN rode HM three times. The CMs at the entrance were very friendly, and I decided to get a picture of all of them together. They asked if I wanted HM or "normal" faces.

That's a hoot, Martha. When we were at WDW last month, I took the Keys to the Kingdom Tour (which I absolutely loved, btw) and our tour guide said the two places were cast members most want to work are the Haunted Mansion and Tower of Terror because, as he put it, "they're the only two places on property where you don't have to be smiling all the time." :rotfl:

Here is a shot I took on my way back from town yesterday. I believe that they are fledglings because a bit later on they were out on a branch looking unsure about their ability to fly off of it. But I have no idea what kind of birds they are. If anyone knows birds and can identify them for me I would really appreciate it. It would be nice to know what I took a picture of. :)

I'm sorry, these are not peregrine falcons. Here is a pic of one.

I put my kids to the test. They attended a 'Raptor Camp' at our local Raptor Center this year. Here is a pic of them with a 2 year old bald eagle (Bald Eagles do not get their white heads until 5 yrs old).

They were not able to say exactly what these birds were but could tell from their beaks that they were not falcons. Falcons have what they call 'teeth' on their beak, not just one point like these birds.

Unfortunately, they were not able to say for sure if these were hawks or eagles instead. Hawks don't have feathers all the way down to their feet, which eagles do, so judging from the bird on the right they guessed Hawk.

But they thought they looked to big to be baby hawks, they asked if they could see a bigger picture of the tree to see how big they are. ;) They look somewhat like the bald eagle in the picture from raptor camp.

Thanks for the information rmoody44. My wife also disagreed that they are falcons and after some digging around on the internet decided that they are Red-Tailed Hawks. This seems right to me based on some of the shots I have seen of red-tails and the fact that they are pretty common in Colorado.

I don't really have any shots to show the birds in comparison to the tree to gauge size. I would guess that they were somewhere around 18-24 inches in height.
