Now MS is saying I cant borrow the transfered point!

And the saga continues...

I am trying now to borrow that transfered point and they are telling me I cant borrow a transfered point. ARGH I said it was my understanding that borrowed or banked points could not be trasfered but a transfered point could be banked or borrowed. Nope she says.... Put on hold....

Nope you cant do it.

I said I had this conversation with MS before the point was transfered.. I ask directly if a Feb 04 point would work and both times it was confirmed that I could use that point for my Oct 04 ressie...

on hold again...... and Little Mermaid is singing away.....


Well.... apparently you CAN NOT borrow a transfered point, but you can bank them.... according to Sonya at 12:46 pm 6/25/04

They DID transfer it for me, and I booked a two bedroom dedicated but not with 2 queens, so I am waitlisted for that....

I asked about a cash reservation for the 2 bed 2 Q villa and she said they are never availble on a cash basis anywhere (CRO or MS) they are for the exclusive use of DVC'rs on POINTs. Same deal for Boardwalk VIEW. Only DVC'rs on points can have that view....

FOr what that is worth. I have been told so many things by so many MS people..... ick

Unless it was a typo, whu would you need to borrow a Feb.'04 point. It is the current year.

Im sorry for the confusion, MY UY is a December 04 and it was a Feb 04 point that was transfered into my Dec o4 account.

Transferred points are supposed to retain their original use year and home resort status. They may need to manually track this, but you should be able to insist that points from Feb, 04 may be used until Jan. 31, 2005.

Why didn't you just have those points transferred into your current (Dec, 03) Use Year anyway??

I'd sure call them back and ask to speak with a supervisor if the CM can't seem to understand the allowed usage of a transferred point according to the POS.

I am really confused. I did the transfer for Laura and MS looked at the F&W ressie she was adding to to be sure the point went to the right place. I would say call and ask for Eva if no luck, maybe she wrote up the transfer wrong.

It was placed in my 2004 UY, the only place it could have been placed. And since I had been told it could be transfered, it should have been fine...

It all ends well.... I have a reservation. I may have used my once in a lifetime exemption, and I got to talk on the phone with a couple of wonderful DISrs, all in all not the worst series of events.

The rules state clearly that transferred points can't be borrowed. Still, MS apparently made the mistake so they should make an exception without using your exemption.

I've read more than one post from DVC members who tried to book a dedicated BCV 2 bedroom w 2Q beds for cash who were told the same thing - no 2B with 2 Q beds are available for cash either through MS or through CRO. So I believe that.

However, this is the first time I remember reading that the BW views were only available for points. Good news if true, but I wonder if it's so. Can anyone confirm?

P.S. to Laurabearz: I do not doubt for a minute that the CM told you this - I just don't believe all the CMs give out 100% accurate info all the time, LOL. I'm sure your recent experience would allow you to agree with me, right? Sorry it was so tough to get your reservation. Hope your waitlist comes through soon.
