now that this years fall trip is in the bag-we missed free dining by 3 days but have 40% off so all is well. I'm starting to obsess over next year, all my ADR's are made and I have nothing better to do. :) What do you think the chances of the bounce back promo being offered again. I totally missed it last year. They had a wider range of dates to choose from. It seems it would be worth it to head down for a short trip to book this. Guess I'll have to keep watching the DIS. Did they announce or advertise it last year or was it word of mouth?

The only place this was 'announced' was among members here on the DIS.:lmao:

There were small 'in-room' cardboard standees (little cardboard things on the table) in your resort room and only at selected resorts as a trial. They directed you to go to...

A booth in the lobby of your resort.. but it was pretty non-descript and for the most part was easily confused with a Disney Vacation Club booth.. Some kind of sign said something about "Save on your next vacation.."

Something like that.

I was wondering the same thing, along with another question. How early did DIS'ers first start reporting the presence of the in room ads, the booths, the notations on dining receipts? I thought it was sometime in October or November, but I'm assuming it wasn't early enough to overlap the end of this year's free dining (first 10 days or so of October), right?

That would be a dream come true! pixiedust:

Nope, it was early November through the end of December.

Thanks clkelley. That's kind of what I figured. Of course, who knows what they'll do this year, right? We're in the Pacific Northwest, so it's prohibitively expensive to take a "quick" trip in November or December just to book free dining. Though I did volunteer to go by myself for one night, just to book it.

I keep volunteering to go for one or two nights or a long weekend so I can try new things and report back to my family. . .they just don't get it. . .well, at least DH doesn't get it. . .lol

I will be watching these boards like a hawk come October/November. I got together with a couple girls at work and we have decided to take one for the team. First sign of bounceback being offered we are booking a quick trip and sharing a room so we can book our trips for next year. :)

Great idea! So, you'll all share a room, but book separate rooms for your free DDP vacations? Can you all get off work at the same time (for the free DDP, not the quickie booking trip)? Or are these separate vacations with your other friends/families?

Maybe we need a "free DDP booking room sharing thread," to bring the cost of the "quickie" trips down even more. ;)

We would be booking separate vacations. I work in a busy ICU and we all have to kind of stagger our vacations and some times even then there is a lot of trading and deal making to get our time off. We work 3 days a week and on the same weekend so it is will be pretty easy to get enough days together for a quick trip.
If it doesn't work out with the girls I will be sure to check for the Booking the Bounceback Sharing Thread.:)

Thanks for the explanation, jamounger--it's so cool that you work with like-minded individuals.

One other question, for you or anyone else who took one of those "quickie" trips to book bounceback. Am I correct in assuming a one night, room-only reservation was enough to book the bounceback free DDP? I was talking to dh about it the other day, and he actually said if it happens again next year and the dates are good, maybe I should go down for one night to book our next trip. :faint: Of course, if it actually comes to him staying with the kids for two days, we'll see whether he still likes the idea.
