Hello everyone,

I've tried to read through everything to figure out the answer to this, but I just can't seem to wrap my arms around it. Here's my question:

I currently have a room only reservation for January 19-30 in a Family Suite. I just plan to add tickets when I check in. BUT, if free hopper and/or water parks and more is offered, do I have to book a package to get it? Or will it be available to everyone staying on site?

I'm sure I won't be able to cancel and re-book a Family Suite, since there are so few. So, am I just out of luck? I'm counting on a AAA room discount as soon as I can apply it, and I'm not really counting on the ticket offer, but it would be nice if I can get it. I'm not planning on adding those ticket options if I don't get them free, BTW.

Thanks all,

I'm going to move this to the codes and discound sub-board - hopefully folks there will be able to help you out.....

Thanks all,

You will have to have a package in order to get the free hopper and/or Water parks.

Changing from a room only to a package is actually quite easy and if you do it when the new rates come out, over the phone, you can ask the reservation person if there is availability for the suites before you cancel your old reservation.

However, not all room types and resorts will be allocated for the ticket offer. For example POR king bed rooms were not eligible for the offer when we went in january 2006 or 2007.

I think you will have better luck though.

The last two years we've had the Magic Your Way package at Pop which included the room, tickets and dining. Both years they offered the code that upgraded your basic tickets to park hoppers and water parks and more. Both years as soon as the offer came out I added the code to our package. It was no problem either year. I'm not sure if that's what you're asking or not. That's how we worked it. I would definitely call as soon as any code comes out for your time frame and find out if you can apply it. I don't think it changed anything on our package but the tickets and perhaps the price of the room went down a small amount. You wouldn't be able to ask for that when you check in I'm sure. It has to be booked in advance. I hope this helps answer your questions. Happy Planning! Lynn

Thanks - that would be the easy thing to do. Unfortunately, we can't book packages yet since prices for 2009 haven't been released. I was afraid that the suites would be sold out if we waited any longer, so I made the room-only reservation to be sure we have our suite.

I asked CRO at the time if I could convert the reservation to package when prices come out and of course, they said yes. What she DIDN'T say, and the DISers here have explained, is the cancelling of the original res. and the new package reservation.

Another poster had a good suggestion - check avail. on the suite first, make that res. THEN cancel the original.

I don't even know if I would be able to get both the AAA discount and Free Park Hopper/Water Parks & More anyway - that's why I'm so CONFUSED!

Is it generally the case that a package that is a free upgrade on the tickets is only available on a certain number of rooms, or is it for ALL of the packages booked during that time?

To my knowledge, you are only allowed one discount per room/package. I can't get an AP-rate room with my free-dining package, for example.

You can't book AAA packages through Disney; you'd have to use your agent. I don't think you could get a discounted room and the upgraded tickets both.

Figure out what the room discount is per night with AAA. The value of the park hopper/WPF&M upgrade is approx $100 per ticket ($45 for park hopping, $50 for WPF&M). See which is your better deal.

In the past January has been Disney Month at AAA.
If you booked a AAA package, you would have to go through AAA anyway.
Come first of January you might want to see what AAA can/will offer you to book a WDW (WDTC) AAA package.
Although it might require travel beyond January '09. Wouldn't hurt to ask though.
However, if you book a package prior to that, you would probably be subject to cancellation fees at that close of a travel date.
Just thought I would add all this to further confuse you.

:rotfl2:
EXACTLY!

We are locked into our dates at this point, so the different travel dates won't work for us.

Because I wasn't planning on doing the Park Hopper/Water Parks on our ticket, then I will stick with the room discount. I think it would be a wash between the room discount and the ticket upgrade value. Upgrading the tickets would have been a nice bonus.

Thanks for your input. It actually DID Help.

I got the above info from Mousesavers. I'm not sure it is any help to you. Probably not. Mousesavers has a ton of information if you haven't visited that site before. I know for a fact that you cannot use more than one code at a time. I know it can be confusing. I've never used AAA, just did it all on my own. I haven't had any problems. I liked being able to get the ticket upgrade and not having to pay extra for it. Hope you can keep yourself from going crazy. :) Have fun planning.
