I was just on a non-disney message board that I like to read and someone was saying they are going to DL for the first time over Xmas.
Someone came on and said....
"That is a good time to go, as it isn't too busy. Everyone goes in the summer and on spring break. People are too busy with Xmas to bother with theme parks. Also, you can purchase these things called fast passes. If you use a credit card to pay for your disneyland tickets, you can use the fast pass machines. It adds $2 onto your credit card every time you use it. It is really worth it, because then you don't have to stand in line. I noticed the charges never did go through onto my credit card, so we got lucky that the machines didn't seem to be working that day for some reason. I figured the extra $20 or so would have been worth not standing in lines. It gives you a time you can come back and return. Maybe you will be lucky and it won't be charged to your card too!".

Ok....I had to close the window - I couldn't even reply to that one. This woman on this board is one of those know it alls that wouldn't believe me anyway....>But had to post it over here so everyone can have a laugh. (Also, for legal purposes of copying from one board to another I did not copy/paste it, I just retyped it and changed it a bit, but its basically the same).

As a former CM, I know exactly what you're talking about Albort...you hear the FUNNIEST things, what is sad about this is that they are spreading their ignorance to other innocent bystanders!!! Poor people!

I was whipping through the Safari line at Animal Kingdom one time and this kid yells out - "hey - how much didja have to pay to go in THAT line?" Had to laugh!

It never ceases to amaze me when people make up stuff rather than just not respond to a thread!

While I'm no expert, I have been researching this trip to DL for almost a year.
Previously I've only been to DW, but I find myself with a know-it-all air. Someone says " Did you know there are two parks now?" and I think to myself "DUH"...but since we're so close to Xmas and I'm trying to move myself from the naughty to nice list....I just chuckle to myself and exclaim "Really?" It doesn't work too well 'cause I still roll my eyes.....I'm working on it though....

Hear that Santa? I'm working on it.

I am constantly being asked how much the fast passes are. This is from people I work with who know I go all the time.

Instead of just ignoring the post, maybe you could just simply post a reply that says they can get a lot of good information from disboards.com? I'd really hate for this family to go so unprepared.

Yah I will go and clear it up, but had to close the window at first! LOL

It's funny how many misconceptions there are, especially about Fastpasses. We were in a Fastpass line one time, going quickly, and a little kid we passed asked, "how come they get to go in the fast line?" The Dad responded, "because they paid more." !!

I'm wondering if those 'experts' are thinking about Universal Studios which offers a "Front of the Line" upgrade for a fee (I think it's $10 per day).

maybe that's why so many people don't even use fastpass.

:lmao: :rotfl2: HAHA! Oh my goodness! Thanks so much for the laugh. I really need that right now. Thats the best thing i've heard all day.

What time, exactly, is the 3 o'clock parade?
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am always amazed with people like that. The first time I went to DL I was not prepared for what I was getting myself into, but I did read the information that DL has on their website so I knew about FP and Child Swap. How can you go on vacation that cost the amount a Disney vacation does and not do some research?

---A guest comes up to me at the Bayou podium. ---

Guest - "Excuse me, is this the place inside of pirates of the carribbean that you can see from the ride?"

Me - "Yes it sure is! Just to let you know we are completely booked right now. Try back in about an hour"

Guest - "Ok I'd like a table for 4 please!"

Guest Complaint from Jungle Cruise...it went something like this...

"I was very unpleased with the cast member we had at the Jungle Cruise. Through out the entire ride, he kept cracking jokes. And he turned too close to that waterfall, I was very sure that we were going to take on water."

Duck flys past the boat nearly hitting the me...
Guest: "Are the ducks animatronic too?"

one time a guest asked my friend in ODV how to get a map. she said go to city hall on main street. idiot left and came back 2 hours later with a map of anaheim asking where they were. she was like, where did u get that map? guest goes, "anaheim city hall". (sheesh)

I was working at Scream Cam (photo location for California Screamin'). This lady walks up to the counter wearing a poncho and all after her family gets off the ride and asks us . . . "Were we supposed to get wet on this ride?" . . . I looked at my lead, she looked back at me, we turned to her and just said "Ma'am its raining"

After a guest examined all of the stuffed Nemos in plush mountian...she comes up to me at the cash wrap & goes "Um, is his fin SUPPOSE to be like this?"

a guest(after sticking her ticket in the machine and getting one out) said to me, "what's this for?"

Ride Operators often get these questions
- Will i Die on this ride?
- How much does this ride cost?

My all Time Favorite:
Guest: Disneyland should stop using camera in the bathroom and flushing it for us. Whoever has that job is such a pervert
CM: what cameras?
Guest: you know, the red light that flashes!

Oh I love the CM stories. I've been asked some odd things, but I know the CMs get it 10 fold.
