Will enjoy options like this much better in the future when I’m maskless and my iPhone can recognize me vs having to fumble around entering a 6-digit pin every single time. :duck:

I noticed a few iOS updates ago they quietly changed it so it will only ask for Face ID once before prompting for the passcode. On days when I have to go into the office I just turn Face ID off. I miss Touch ID.

I do that too but I can't count the number of times I have tried to use my Apple watch at a touch point while the CM just smiles back at me.

Have lost count of how many times I’ve done this.

Very soon your Apple watch will be able to unlock your iPhone when FaceID fails due to wearing a mask.

As soon as iOS 14.5 and watchOS 7.4 drop we can stop needing to enter a 6 digit pin over and over on our iPhones even while wearing a mask. Just having your watch on your wrist and unlocked will make the magic happen on the iPhone.

Will this be supported by Android phones? Because I'm not getting an I-phone just for this.
Just to add to the comment from @mrsap, Disney MagicMobile service support for Android smartphones and Android smart devices that utilize a digital wallet are in the pipeline.

Slightly OT.... Did you guys know you can use your Magic Band to open your MDE app on iPhone?? 🙃
Yea it was a great idea using the iPhone Shortcuts app but not very likely to be implemented as a native feature. 8-)

Any recent iPhone can scan the MBs RFID chip the magic is the iPhone Shortcuts app. The real fun / challenge is the ability to assign different MBs to different Shortcuts.

Imagine each MB has a unique NFC tag so consider the complexity of not only keeping track of all your MBs but trying to remember what each one does when scanned by your iPhone.

😂 it’s still fun!!!!!

:offtopic: Your post made me think of a use case and a real world test case.

First use my Apple watch to unlock my iPhone since I am wearing a mask and then use my MagicBand to launch MDE. Use MDE to create my new Disney MagicMobile pass to store on my iPhone and my Apple watch in their respective digital wallets. I am now ready to go.

Once at my assigned park: AK, DHS, Epcot, or MK based on my scheduled Disney Park Pass selection I then have to decide which of the 3 devices I want to use to enter the Tapstile. Maybe one of them will work to get me a Green Mickey response on the tapstile.

How I picture you shortly after reading my post...

I'm curious if this will take advantage of Express Transit (with park entry admittedly not being "transit"), an Apple Wallet feature that does not require you to unlock your watch or phone to use the pass. This would be closest to the experience the MB provides. Their post certainly indicates this may be the case.

The question beyond that would be if this becomes a way to pay for things - which I imagine could still involve you punching in your PIN on the card reader or using FaceID on your personal device.

My apple watch allows me to charge to my various credit cards without having to use a PIN or FaceID

I wondered the same thing but we don't have enough info yet other than the functionality needs to work on by Apple and Android ecosystems.

The image in the Disney Blog post appears to show what looks like a digital card from the wallet being displayed on the iPhone at a tapstile.

Payment is a more complex discussion since a MB is just linked to you MDE account. The actual payment function is tied to your Disney resort room folio with a Credit Card on file. While the smart device wallet payment process is direct payment using a digital card selected from your digital wallet so will require authorization from an unlocked device.

Worries me a little since the Apple Wallet is limited to 12 cards (passes) so adding credit cards, member cards, medical id cards, transit cards and now Disney MagicMobile pass

Example: double click on the side button on an unlocked Apple watch to activate the wallet for digital card selection and use without any PIN or (FaceID) which is smartphone specific and not valid for smart devices like watches.

Personally I prefer my magic band and if I had a smart watch I would be ok with that. My cell phone battery dies quick enough at Disney I keep nfc, bluetooth etc off to save battery life.

I think just using my magic band would be easier. I usually like to keep my phone tucked away in my bag and not run the battery down anymore then I have to.
With the magic band you don’t have to carry anything in your hand, it’s just more convenient.

I was browsing Wirecutter for something totally different and stumbled across this interesting band adapter that will let you use a regular watch band with an Apple Watch. Now I’m desperately curious to see if it would work with a Magic Band. I’ve still got some old plain ones from ages ago that I almost feel like experimenting with (cutting would have to be involved):
