Now Approaching... Sleepingbooty's Sept. PTR (We're BAAACK! 9/26)

I would lay money down that you didn't use an instant churro mix, like I did! You'll have to send me your recipe some time!

 Great pics of the churros adventure! I was thinking of trying them (to eat, not to make!) after I saw Giada whats-her-name on the Food Network make them on her show. Anything she makes is all sexy and wonderful, so I get sucked in...as does DH :lmao:

But really, I love hearing about people's favorite treats to have at Disney! I'm such a choco-holic, but when it's really hot outside that doesn't always taste the best.

:lmao: Only Giada DiLaurentis could make churros sexy! I'll have to look up that show on hulu or somthing, how funny! Definitely try them at Disney before you attempt to make them - there is no comparison. Well, I'm not much of a cook, though. I'll bet Liesa's were pretty good.:goodvibes

Oh, I saw that episode on Food Network too! I'm not a big fan of hers, though

:thumbsup2 for 23 boxes and helping them get to the next level. It's a bummer the prizes have gotten so lame, or at least it seemed that way when Kendall was in brownies. I went to camp 3 times on cookie sales and it was wonderful!

I was in scouts through junior high and it broke my mom's heart that I didn't go farther. It was traumatic for me, we moved in 4th grade and at my old school all my friends were brownies, new school, everyone was a bluebird! I had mint envy big time. She was luckier with my sisters who went through part if not all of HS.

My mom is still super involved with our local council and takes a group of Seniors to England every year on a scouting exchange! We actually all go to an "adult" girl scout camp every summer and it's a ton of fun, there is about 10 of us. I will miss it this year as we get back from Disney the week before and I just couldn't do that to Jeff. Next year though!

We typically buy at least 12 boxes and they go FAST! Trefoil and do-si-do vultures at my house. Me, I'm devastated that they got rid of the lemon coolers.

That'd be torture for me. I always buy one box for home and one to keep at the office. It was only recently that the fam figured out that I didn't bring home all that I bought. :rolleyes1

one box? I think that doesn't even count!

Thanks! I guess they're churro-esque.:confused3

:rotfl:

The foamy part makes NO sense with an entire box of mixture. That's what yeast and liquid should do before you add it into the rest of the mix, that seems super odd. Surprising that it wasn't supposed to rise after you beat it to death. Definitely soemthing lost in translation I'd think. That said, they look entirely edible to me!

I love scouting, and will probably try to keep my girls involved all the way through if I can. We have only lost one girl in three years, so we've been lucky.

My absolute favorite are the Samoas - but our council is using a new baker this year and we won't have them any more :sad1: I will have to find someone in a different part of the country that can order some for me. I can eat a box of them in one sitting - no lie! But- our new baker does the lemon coolers, I think - so I'll have to try them!

Chapter 32. School's. Out. for. Summer!

Well, okay, its been out for a week - but I hadn't uploaded my last day of school pictures until now. This was Lucy's last day in kindergarten :sad1: and Jenna's last day of third grade. Man, they are growing up too fast!:sad2:

The school put on a field day - so they were outside pretty much all day. Originally, I'd been scheduled to sub for one of the kindergarten teachers (not Lucy's) on field day, but luckily that got changed so I was able to just come up and help out with Lucy's class. And take pictures, of course. I mostly stayed with the kindergarteners, but I did hunt down Jenna's class a few times to get pictures of her.

Jenna's class, and the older grades, did some more traditional field day activities like the 50 yard dash, high jump, etc. But the little kids just had fun stuff. Water play, bubbles, hoola hoops. Here's Lucy doing the egg race:

And the sack race:

And here she is with her little buddy, comparing how wet they got:

You probably can't tell, but their teacher made them the absolute cutest shirts. She had each kid make their thumbprint with fabric paint on the front of the shirt, then after they dried, she used a fine tip sharpie to turn each thumbprint into a little character and wrote their name under it. Lucy's was a turtle. I helped one of the other Kg teachers (one of the ones I sub for) make hers - very labor intensive, but so cute! I thought it might be a cute way to make shirts for Disney, too. Let me see if I can dig up a better pic of the shirt. Okay, here's one:

Pretty cute, huh?

Jenna's class did some fun races, too. Here she is doing.... well, I don't know what they call this:

And here she is later with her teacher. We loved her so much! She was a fabulous teacher. And a huge Disney fan. Her classroom is filled with Disney stuff, and they go to WDW a lot. Jenna is really bummed because she is retiring this year. No, Jenna's not standing on something, the teacher really is as small as her 3rd graders:

Well, that's all I've got for today. I think I better manage to come up with some trip related stuff soon!

I'll trade you samoas for lemon coolers next year!!!!!!! we have a lemon creme thing that is NOT the same.

I miss track & field days at school! It looks like they had a great time. That t-shirt is so cute :thumbsup2

Thanks Jen, it was fun regardless. So, are you planning on starting that next TR anytime soon? popcorn::

I mentioned somewhere (I think it was Glen's thread) that I won't be doing a TR for my recent trip. Or I might just do highlights on it... I haven't decided yet. I've been keeping busy with life so sadly I just haven't go the chance. It might end up fading off into Disney memory :sad2:

Love those fingerprint shirts. You could totally make fingerprint disney characters. That would be so cute. Similar to the Phineas and Ferb shirts at the Disney store. Hmmm.... might have to work on something like that. ;)

Yeah, I was thinking you could add mouse ears to them - what else? We did have one that was a pirate, it was really cute. I guess a tiara for a princess? Do the thumbprint in light blue to make it Cinderella? The key would be to keep it simple, yet somehow get the character across. Hmm, this would be a fun summer project, no? Let me know if you come up with any ideas!

Cute pics! I love the thumbprint idea for the shirts. They're adorable! Madison still has 6 more days of school and I can't wait for her to be done.

Those shirts are definitely creative. I thought they were a print or something. This way, all the kids get their own unique shirts! How adorable!

Our school had a play day on the last day. The gr.7's would organize the activities, like ring toss, relay races, obstacle courses, and the gr.6's would be team leaders. The school school was divided into a couple of teams, so each team had at least 2-3 kids from each grade, including the kindergarteners!

I remember making a sponge race, where they got a sponge and a bucket full of water at the starting line, and each kid took turns soaking it and rinsing it out into the bucket at the finish line. The team that got the most water in the end, won!

Ahhh...elementary school.....

Those shirts are adorable, but I can't imagine how labor intensive they were! Kudos for having such a dedicated teacher. Looks like Lucy had a great field day-- that picture of Jenna and her teacher is really sweet. I bet the teacher would love a copy!

Our kids did something like that, too! That's how Lucy got so wet. I don't remember my field days at all. Just that we had them.:confused3

They definitely were labor intensive. I don't know how long it took for her to make all the thumbprints because I wasn't there for that part. But I helped another teacher with hers, and she'd already done the thumbprints and let them dry. I spent about 2 hours drawing the little character attributes onto each thumbprint and writing the kids' names - and I think I got 14 done in that time!

You're right - I should send Jenna's teacher that picture!
