Wow, Mary - we have a lot in common, don't we! Thanks for joining in. I hope I can keep everyone interested for another....93 days, 8 hours. Had to check my countdown timer. Wasn't last May just bizarre?!

Chapter 33. I Heart Amazon

My brother had given me a $30 e-gift certificate to Amazon a while back. It had just been languishing in my inbox, waiting for me to find the right thing to use it on. Is anyone else out there like me? I have a hard time spending money on myself. The girls? No problem. I even have a hard time letting my mother spend money on me - which she always wants to do every time we go shopping together. I let her spend it on the girls instead. I don't know if its my upbringing or my indoctrination into the cult of Dave Ramsey or what, but that's me. I'm sure most of you would have had absolutely no problem spending $30 on Amazon. I do the same thing with all gift cards. If someone gives me a gift card for a massage or a facial or some other fun, treat-yourself type of thing - I always hold onto it forever, thinking "I'll wait and use this when I really need it." Like maybe if I've had a really tough week, or something. And then I end up forgetting about it, or it expires.

Well, anyway - I think it was Becky (Ladybugmom) who recently ordered some Disney books and gave me the itch to get some new ones myself. So after several days of taking various books in and out of my virtual cart, here's what I ordered:

The best part - they came in 2 days - even with free supersaver shipping! How cool is that?

Oh, you don't recognize that one on the left? While not technically Disney related, we'll call it my Disney Workout video. I borrowed this from the library a few months ago on a lark and it was so awesome! Best workout video I've ever tried. Not that I've tried tons of them. Um, less than 5 probably. But still, it was so good that I used up all my renewals on it- which means I had it for 12 weeks! So I finally had to return it. And I've been slacking ever since then. Okay, actually - I had a bad bout with my asthma and wasn't able to work out at all for about a month, but that doesn't explain my laziness of the last three weeks. So, no more excuses, right?!

The Color Companion to the the Unofficial Guide I picked up mostly so I have another book I can lend out to peeps. But the Imagineering Field Guide is for me. I was a little disappointed at how small the book is, but I guess there is a whole series, so I can just pick up the next one. Well, if I get another gift card, that is;)

well it would be safe to say that I am not like you.

not as bad as my children whose birthday money burns a hole in their pocket but still, bad enough.

Not that I ever get gift certificates from anyone now that I think about it. :rotfl2:

Fun books! I'd love the imagineering field guide.

I can totally relate to you about spending money on yourself. It's a terrble disease. Last x-mas, I got a gift card for Indigo/Chapters (bookstore here in Canada) and I JUST redeemed it a week ago. Not Disney related but I got myself the latest BBC nature Documentary, "Life" . I love the BBC nature documentaries, especially with David Attenborough. He's an idol of mine.... :rolleyes1

Anyways! So glad that you finally took the plunge and bought something for yourself. We've really gotta learn to treat ourselves and not everyone else all the time! :rotfl:

I, too, have no problem spending money on me...If you have any extra that you don't want to spend....;)

Those Imagineering guides are so interesting....I think that's a good purchase for sure....:thumbsup2

I know exactly what you mean anout spending money on yourself. It's always so easy when buying things for other people.

But when I'm buying for myself.....I'm extremely picky and will only get something if I REALLY want it, or really NEED it.

I've always wanted to check out those imagineering books. Looks like you'll be learning a lot!

I've gotten better- I used to be SUCH a gift card spender. I'd buy things as soon as I'd get the card, then two weeks later see something I really wanted. Now, I wait awhile and try to make smarter purchases-- my brother gave me a $100 e-bay gift card for my birthday a few weeks ago and I'm sitting on it!
You got great books-- and the DVD!! I got a terrific abs DVD on Amazon for next to nothing!

I still have an itunes giftcard from my stocking. If I don't spend it soon, Santa's feelings will be hurt.

Don't I wish!

I think it was Liesa who talked me into that one. I used to think I didn't want to know 'behind the magic' - like maybe it would ruin it all for me. I'm a little afraid to read it still.

I can totally relate!! When you read my post about my Amazon order--it was purchased via a $40 gift card my brother had given me for my birthday LAST year (August 1, 2009)!!! :lmao: I, too, can spend money on my girls all day long but when it comes to me--forget it!! And LOL on the Dave Ramsey cult remark!!! :rotfl2: I just cannot do the cash thing--thankfully both Brent and I are very good with money!! ;) Glad I could help in persuading you to purchase something for yourself!! :goodvibes

Yep, that's me too! Its a sickness.
