Now Approaching... Sleepingbooty's Sept. PTR (We're BAAACK! 9/26)

I would take out WCC and go for some Hoop. You would LOVE Hoop, it is so much fun!!!!!

Teppan Edo though....really it's pretty basic food. Hibachi grilled steak, chicken, prawns or scallops with "sauce" on the side. It appeals to a pretty wide base, I'd encourage reconsidering!

Not to mention the "show" the chef's put on is SOOOOO much fun. My kids favorite meal (all 4 of them) hands down and our only repeat ADR for the next trip.

Yeah, I'm really thinking we need to do Hoop - after all it is the longest running stage show, right?

I love watching the chefs at hibachi restaurants - it really is like a private dinner show!

I would agree that taking out WCC would be a good choice, but I think taking out Chef Mickey's be a better one to ditch. Like you say you still get a good character meal in.

Cynthia is right, Teppan is pretty basic. Who doesn't like grilled steak or chicken with a big pile of noodles or white rice?? For me, it's like you get the food AND a show.

Hoop is worth it. Much better than anything you've got up there!

Oh - I meant I would take out WCC and CM. I'd rather not pay out of pocket for a TS meal. So we'd probably eat at a CS for out 7th meal since we'd have to use 2 credits for Hoop. But most seem to think its worth it.

Yeah, who doesn't like grilled steak or chicken over rice or noodles? But its all in the attitude. I remember a few years ago, I wanted to go to a Japanese restaurant here for my birthday. My mom mentioned that she doesn't like Japanese food. I asked her what it was that she didn't like. She couldn't think of anything specific, except sushi. We did end up going, and everybody liked it. I think my parents are just such creatures of habit, and they end up getting fixated on certain ideas. My mom is the type that will tell you she doesn't like a certain food - but then it turns out she's either never tried it, or only had it once when she was 7 years old!:sad2:

June was hot and crowded, but not unmanagable. Before our Jan trip, I had only ever been to WDW in the summer months. Plus, last year, it was my birthday trip! We took advantage of AM EMH each day, left the park midday for a swim/nap at the hotel, and then returned to a park (we had hoppers) in the late afternoon/evening. It worked out really well. We are also experts at using our fast passes. Plus, since we had been in Jan (and did everything that we wanted) June was like a bonus trip.

It really seems like if you know what you are doing, and have a good plan - any time of year can be manageable, I guess. Although I don't think I'd ever attempt the week between Christmas and New Years. When my oldest gets into middle and high school, we may have to move our fall trips to the summer. Good to know you found it doable.

LOVE your choices! I think I would take out CM and WCC for Hoop and I think you should at least suggest Chef's in place of Le Cellier, since you have already been to Le Cellier!

Can't wait to hear what they choose!

Me too! First I need to figure out how to choose. I'm still debating over the best method. Each person gets one pick, or we rank them and take the top 7 vote getters.:confused3

When we were going to do the DDP, before getting the QSDP pin, we were going to have each of us pick one place that they wanted. That way each person would at least get to choose 1 meal that they really wanted.

Great dining choices on both the individual and group plans.

I'm going to have them over for dinner on Saturday night, and show it then. I'm thinking of doing an Ohana style meal.

So, save the whole slide show as a pdf and then convert individual pages into jpegs? How do I convert them? I think I downloaded something to do that before our computer crashed, so I no longer have it. And I don't remember what it was called :confused3

Couldn't be easier.

In Power Point at the top left, click File, Save As. (If you have Office 2007, click the MS Office logo on the top left, then Save As.)

On the save window, click the drop down arrow to the right of "Save as type:" and change it from "Presentation" to "JPEG File Interchange Format (*.jpg)" - you may have to scroll down to see it.

Click on Save

Click on Every Slide

You will now have a new folder created in the same directory that your PPT is saved
in. I will contain JPG files of each slide in your slideshow.

Upload.

Oh good. Glad you chimed in here GB. I was just getting caught up and I noticed my name being mentioned. I didn't know what you posted, so that's some good info.!

I am thinking of going that route - but I'm worried someone's #1 choice could be someone else's least favorite - you know what I mean? I'm thinking about some kind of rating system.

Wow, that does sound quite simple, thanks!:thumbsup2

But am I crazy, or did you once mention some free download to convert files from pdf's to jpegs? Or vice versa?

I replied to your question on my thread....I linked to a post where jenbear mentioned a site called zamzar.com. But I didn't have to use it since I'm fortunate enough to have a professional version of Adobe Acrobat at work.

Morning, Rebecca. Just checking to see what I missed. It's entered the techno realm; tucking my tail in shame, and going back to my hole. ;)

(But at least I know where to go when my own tech issues arise...)

When are they giving Remy the boot? And do you know where (if there is one) I can find his schedule?

Not sure about the exact time their getting rid of Remy. I heard at the end of the summer but this could all be rumours :confused3 As far as his schedule, that I don't know either. Sorry I can't be more help! When we were there for a lunch ADR, he magically popped up! I'm sure they bring him out at least twice during lunch and dinner.

Country music is not my favorite, but I can get into the spirit of the show and enjoy it. I've been to Branson enough to be able to appreciate corny down-home humor for exactly what it is - and not expect any more from it ;)

Cool :cool2: As long as you know what you're in for.

Oh right! Totally forgot about that! I recommend using the method GretBiscuit mentioned. Seems to be the best way to do it and you won't need to use any third party resources. Hope it works out because I want to see some of these slides! :worship:

Oops, I haven't been back over there :rolleyes1 Thank you!

Now exiting the techno realm.... keep all forward facing tentacles inside the vehicle....

I'm almost done - I'll get some on here today or tomorrow:thumbsup2

Chapter. 15: Dining PowerPoint

Sooooo… bet you’re wondering, how’d the presentation go? Before I let you in on the results, I thought I’d share some of the PowerPoint. I did like Biscuit suggested and saved all the slides as jpegs. I won’t bore you with all of them, but here’s a sampling:

Title Page:

Slide1.jpg

Then, I started with this list of past favorites:

Slide2.jpg

Each restaurant name linked to a page devoted to that restaurant. The 'home' button on each slide took us back to this favorites slide. We went through all of those and gave them each a score. Yes, I even created score sheets. The scoring guide was a '5' for a must do, a '3' for a like, a '1' for a don't care either way, and a '0' for would really rather not!

The 'home' button on the last favorite page (Sci Fi Dine In) took us, instead of back to the favorites slide, to this one:

Slide3.jpg

We went through the same procedure for all of these restaurants. The 'home' button on the last one took us to this slide, which is an index of all the restaurants with links to a slide for each one.

Slide4.jpg

I'd thrown this in there because although I didn't want to overwhelm everyone by going through all 47 restaurants and dinner shows (I didn't include the restaurants that charge 2 credits), I did want to have the ability to look at all of the restaurants if someone wanted to. And it turned out that I did have several requests by Scott and my parents, and even Jenna, to look at the pages for a number of restaurants that I hadn't included on the "favorites" or "would like to try" lists. So its a good thing I put that in there. Although we didn't end up choosing any of the ones that weren't on my two lists. I could have predicted that!;)

Here are a few of the restaurant slides:

My initial goal was to have, on each slide, a menu and two photos: one of the food, and one of the restaurant. I ended up having to modify that a bit on some of them. I wasn't able to find good food porn for all of the restaurants. And at one point, I was getting a bit tired of searching, so if I didn't think it was a place we'd end up choosing anyway, I didn't try too hard to find two pics. Also, some of the menus (I used the ones on allearsnet) are very lengthy - especially the buffets - and I just couldn't fit it all on there. So I ended up cutting out the drinks and appetizers (after all, now that they aren't including on the dining plan, we don't order them as often anymore). If the menu still wouldn't fit, or I didn't think we'd eat there anyway, or we were already really familiar with the menu, I just put a link to the allearsnet website. We did use those links quite often to look at the full menus, so it was a good thing I put them in there.

All in all, we had a lot of fun going through this. Everybody got really into it, and we had a good time discussing places we'd been in the past, and debating the merits of this restaurant or that. I thought about how most people (except you, my dear dis friends) would think this whole thing was really ridiculous. I guess I'm very lucky to have such a fun and loving family to indulge my silliness with zero eye rolling or grousing. :goodvibes

Next time: The Results Are In!

LOVE the presentation!! You're so lucky that your family indulges you-- the most I got out of DBF as far as dining choices for our last trip was "Is there a Chinese restaurant?" Sounds like you guys had a really fun night!
So what restaurants did you guys decide on??

LOVE the power point presentation. I can't even imagine how much time it took you to do that. I have NO idea how to do power point!!! I can't wait to hear how the scoring worked out!
