Now a Trip Report!!! Will We Stay or Will We Go? A Thanksgiving Pre-Trip/Trip Report

So sorry to hear about your aunt, Jill!

Great First Day of School pics -- Hannah is so cute! Alison's party looks like a blast! I always love Polynesian parties! :thumbsup2

So glad you enjoyed Mary Poppins! We have the CD, too, and listen to it in the car.

Thanks Jackie! :goodvibes Hannah was working on her homework last night and I heard her singing "feed the birds". She really liked that song.

Busy, Busy, Busy. You have been super busy lately. I am back and playing catch up.

I decided I will do a trip report so I will let you know when I figure out how to start.:rolleyes1
I need to think of a title.

I have some catching up to do, with school starting I've been neglecting everything, my trip report included!
Looking forward to seeing what you've been up to!

Well, so much to comment on!
$200 gift card:thumbsup2 awesome!!!
Hope school is going well and Hannah loves her teacher even though she didn't get the Disney lover...
The Poly party was such a great idea! Love all the decorations!

Sorry about your aunt and I understand about your dad, my mom has dementia, I'm her legal guardian. There is nothing easy about it. Short term memory is gone.

I got a jury summons in the mail last week, I hope it turns out like yours did. Lesson plans while serving on a jury will be no fun at all!

Last but not least your planning looks really great! You are going to have a wonderful trip!!

Welcome back! I thought about texting you a couple of times just to see where you were. LOL I especially started to text you on Friday. I went to the BBQ and Blues festival downtown for lunch on Friday. We could have both pretended to be in the AK! I had a really good sandwich and, the best part, on the way out I saw a stand that sold funnel cakes. As I was looking at the rest of the sign I saw the word "beignets". :cool1: :cool1: I was stuffed to the gills but just HAD to stop and get some beignets! LOL They were sooooooooo good! So, not only did I get a taste of AK I got a taste of POR-Riverside! I was miserable the rest of the afternoon because I was so full! LOL

Looking forward to reading about your trip!

I'm looking forward to using that gift card! So far school is going well and Hannah (and I) like her teacher. Now if we could just get Hannah to stop talking, stop jumping up and down when standing in line and to follow directions. *sigh* Every morning I just remind her of the rules and hope that something sticks!

The party was really fun and everyone had a good time!

Clay's grandmother has dementia. Right now she's in an assisted living facility but she really needs to be in a more controlled environment. She is constantly falling and getting bruised up and banged up. A week ago Saturday she fell and busted her head and ended up with 3 or 4 staples in her head. I think what's so bad for my Dad is there are times when he has the clarity of mind to know his situation and he gets really upset about it.

Sending lots of pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust: your way that you don't have to be on a jury.

We're 68 days out and I'm getting so excited! Oh...and I changed our Plaza Restaurant ADR last night.   It's now at 11:00 instead of 1:00. I wanted to give us time to take a break back at Pop if we wanted.

It occurred to me with the late dinners on our MK days that I'd completely forgotten about Cinderella's Christmas Wish!!:eek: That is a MUST see! It's scheduled for 6:30. So, I either need to get an earlier WCC ADR, a later LTT ADR, arrive late for the LTT ADR and hope they'll seat us or skip LTT altogether. Plus, not knowing if we'll go back to the MK after our WCC dinner is bugging me. I would like to go back just to see MSEP and then head out. Otherwise we'll have to do it on our last night. I'm also debating on whether to stay for Wishes on our last night or skip it since we will see it from the Poly beach on Thanksgiving. There's just something about seeing it in the park though!

You so should have. I thought about texting you too. Not sure what distracted me though. :confused3 Either chasing after a teenager, the heat or my allergies. I will do better next time.:thumbsup2

I'll have to text you during our trip so you can give live updates. I'm debating on whether to get a day or two of internet access. Of course, if Clay doesn't bring his laptop that won't be necessary! LOL Even if he does, it's debatable if I'll have time to do any updates.

Yesterday was the 60 day mark and since I didn't post a dance here I'm doing the 59 DAYS!!!! dance today! :cool1::cool1:  :woohoo: :dance3: :dance3::cheer2: :cheer2:

Once again we were a couple days behind taking off numbers on the countdown calendar so this morning Hannah came in our bedroom and told me that she'd taken off two days and in a very excited voice said "59 DAYS!!!!!" I think she's starting to get excited! LOL

Past two weeks have been fairly quiet. We went to the fair a couple of weeks ago and had a good time. My niece is in Future Farmer's of America at her school and was there to show the sheep she's been taking care of. She didn't win anything but she had a good time. Clay's parents and sister and her two girls were there as well. As an added bonus, Alison had called Clay's sister and asked her if she would take her to the fair so, even though it wasn't our weekend with her, we got to spend a day at the fair with her. Hannah was over the moon to get a day with her sister. The girls had fun riding the rides and they got to play one game and all won a prize. It was also a good way for me to see what thrill rides Hannah would ride.

She's always been more of a thrill rider than me but there were some rides at WDW she wouldn't ride when we went (EE, ToT, RnRC, BTMR). She's been saying that she wants to ride all of these rides when we go in November but I've been a bit skeptical. After the trip to the fair I'm skeptical no more! There was a ride like the Drop Zone that she wanted to ride but we never got around to it. I thought that would have been a good precursor to the ToT and she could decide if she really wanted to ride it after experiencing that. One thing she did want to ride, which surprised me, was a ride called Zero Gravity. Ya'll know what I'm talking about? It's round and you stand up along the walls. They put a strap across you but that's all that holds you in because gravity does the rest! It spins around and as it spins it then tilts up. Personally, I'm not getting on that thing!  Hannah loved it! LOL Alison had a look of sheer terror on her face. They all rode it twice. LOL

I didn't get many pictures at the fair because my batteries were dying and I didn't have any extras. UGH Here's some of the few pictures I did manage to get:

My niece in her farm clothes:

Her sheep, Bubba and Sarah:

Hannah milked a cow! (Also the last picture I got before my camera died! LOL)
100_1136.jpg

Funny story on the cow milking: While we were waiting our turn there was a bucket with empty milk cartons in it. Hannah sees it and says "There's where they got the milk for the cows." Yeah...she thought the cows drink the milk and that's how they produce milk. :rotfl::rotfl: God love her! After she was done milking, she said "That was yucky. If felt rubbery!" LOL She got a free carton of chocolate milk for her efforts. LOL

Clay and I went to curriculum night for Alison's school last week. Clay told her teachers about our trip and they all seemed thrilled about a Disney trip. I don't know if any of them have ever been or if they like Disney but they didn't seem to be bothered that she was going to miss a couple of days of school so that's good. Her Social Studies teacher had sent home a pre-progress report (Alison didn't have it yet because she was out of school Wednesday and Thursday due to the stomach bug going around.). She's got an 83 right now, which isn't bad but isn't good either. The real progress reports come out next week so we'll see how she's doing. I'm really hoping Clay won't have to make good on his threat. We told her teachers that she's been told that she won't be going to Disney if her school performance is poor. They thought that was a great incentive (as do we) for her to do well. Hopefully it has been! Either that or she doesn't think Clay will follow through.

Worked on our itinerary some more this week...just tweaking some things here and there. Our parks are set in stone and I've made some adjustments to what we'll be doing in each park. We had Alison this past weekend so I had the girls sit down on Sunday with their Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids and make a list of their must do attractions. It was only supposed to be their top five for each park but it turned in to a top whatever they wanted to do! LOL

I tried to convince them both that Stitch wasn't that great...told them it was dark, things came out of the dark and touched you and that Stitch burped and it was really smelly. Well the smelly burp sent them both into gales of laughter and made them want to do it even more. UGH I think Clay is gonna take one for the team on this one because I'm not doing it! LOL

Another funny Hannah story: Hannah was looking at the Epcot map and saw France on the map. She exclaims: "France! "France!" I tell her "Yes...that's France." She then says: "I didn't know France was in Florida!" :lmao: :lmao: I think we need to get Connor and Hannah together because it would be non-stop entertainment with those two! LOL

Also, while working on her list, Hannah said she wanted to do Fantasia. I told her that Fantasia is a movie, it's not at Disney World. She got a bit frustrated and kept saying she wanted to see Fantasia. It finally dawned on me she meant Fantasmic. She was not happy when I told her we wouldn't be seeing Fantasmic on this trip. I would love to see it too but I'm not dealing with those crowds. Plus, I would have to change our MK day to a DHS day and I don't want to do that so she's just going to have to live with the disappointment. Hopefully the Osborne Lights will make up for it some!

I've got all but a few of Hannah's autograph cards printed out. Next will be Alison's autograph cards. Then I'll have to trim them down and get them in baggies to keep them from getting messed up. I bought some small clipboards at Staples and will use those for when the characters sign the cards. I need to get those decorated with stickers or something. I also bought some new clickable, colored Sharpies to break up the boring black autograph. LOL

I've got several DISigns for t-shirts and next weekend when we have Alison we'll go through and pick out the ones we want to use for our trip. Then each week I'll buy a set of t-shirts until I get them all done. I need to put more money on the girl's gift cards and after that I think we're done with making them do things to earn spending money. I think they're both going to have more than enough. I've pulled a couple pairs of Alison's shorts to pack for the trip and I've started thinking about starting to pack. I can't do a whole lot of packing of Alison's stuff because she doesn't have that much at our house. I could probably get Hannah's stuff packed and she'd still have plenty to wear. LOL Gotta love those hand-me-downs from Alison!

Next Friday Hannah and I are going to see a production of "Aladdin" at The Children's Theater. While we're at "Aladdin", Clay will be at a high school football game with Alison. She's in band and the 8th grade band gets to go to a high school football game and play with the high school band during half-time. I hate I'm going to miss it but if she sticks with band I'm sure there will be many more Friday night football games in my future!

Oh...and I made some more changes to our ADRs.

That's all that's going on for now!

Loved the stories from the fair!!! I laughed out loud when I read the comment Hannah made about the milk for the cows! :rotfl2: I do think she and Connor would be hysterical together!

Hurray for Hannah wanting to do thrill rides! You will have lots of fun taking her on all of them. I think you mentioned before that she is tall for her age -- are there any rides she won't be tall enough for at WDW?

Oh, I do hope she has good grades, and Clay doesn't have to make good on his threat!

I don't know how much I'm going to enjoy it but Clay will enjoy hearing me scream in terror!  I wanted to ride BTMRR on on first trip but Hannah didn't want to so Clay and Alison rode it. I just recently learned they rode it two times in a row! LOL The only one I will absolutely, positively NOT do is ToT. I'm on the fence about Expedition Everest. I may have to use your sherpa tactic to get out of that one! :thumbsup2 I haven't measured her recently but I don't think there's anything that she won't be tall enough for at WDW. I need to re-check some of the height requirements to make sure.

I hope Alison has good grades too because I don't want to have to go without her. There were a couple of tests she missed while she was out sick. One was for math and she had to take it the day she got back to school. Clay said she made a 95 on the test so that's pretty good. I can't remember what the other test was. What aggravates me so much is that she's fully capable of doing the work she just doesn't apply herself and, other than Clay, she doesn't have anybody pushing her to make the effort.

Yes I will do my best to do live updates for if you want.

I love the fair! When we lived in Cabarrus county we would go every year to the old fairgrounds.

50 DAYS!!!!!!!!!!

We are officially at the half way point!!!!    :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Next month is going to be a flurry of activity with getting things organized before we leave. I was planning on making t-shirts but I made 3 over the weekend and only 1 came out good. I haven't taken a picture of it but will try to get one up later tonight. It's really more of a Halloween shirt than a trip shirt. Now I'm debating on whether I want to spend the money and time on making them. I found some really cool DISigns though and had a couple of them personalized and I'd hate to not use them.

Progress reports are in. Hannah's was very good. She's got 3 A's and 1 B. I'm sure by the time report cards come out at the beginning of November that she could pull the B up to an A. Hopefully she can keep all her grades up!

Alison has done very well in Science but not so good in her other classes. :sad1: She's got some zeroes on some things and low grades on another. She's done well on quizzes in class but done poorly on the tests. Clay talked to her briefly yesterday and she told him that she's made up some of the work where she got zeroes so we'll see how she fares on her report card. This is our weekend so she and Clay will be having a prayer meeting sometime this weekend about her progress report.

Hannah and I are going to see Aladdin tomorrow night at The Children's Theater and I'm looking forward to that. Alison and Clay will be at the high school football game where the 8th grade band gets to play with the high school band. (Think I may have mentioned this already?)

Sunday was the building dedication for the new building for Hannah's school. She and some other children were picked to sing at the dedication. There were people from the school board (past and present superintendents), a Senator, a representative from the architecutral firm that designed the school and other "important" people in attendance. The architectural firm donated some books to the media center, which was a very nice thing to do. When the representative presented the bag with the books everyone in the audience said "ohhhhhhhhhhh!!!"  It was pretty funny. Here's some pictures from the dedication and a video of the kids singing:

These are Natalie's awesome DISigns.

I am using the same designs to make 2 books for my girls...I need to finishing cuting and binding it together :thumbsup2

Yes...we're going to be at MK on the 23rd. Going to try to make it for RD but I'm not going to be disappointed if we don't as we have another MK day on the 26th. Not sure yet if we'll go back that evening though. If we do make it back for the evening it will just be for MSEP.

ladies we need to coordinate too for our Dis meets :cool1: Barbara I need your park days so we can figure out what matches...Jill I know we have a bunch of days similar...we'll have to chat later in Oct and carve out a couple possiblities and exchange cell numbers...I am looking forward to meeting you both and your girls!

It occurred to me with the late dinners on our MK days that I'd completely forgotten about Cinderella's Christmas Wish!!:eek: That is a MUST see! It's scheduled for 6:30.

thanks for this reminder...I need to look over our nights at MK and figure out which work best for us to see this...I hope to see it more than once :goodvibes

and happy 50 days back to you....I can't believe we are half way there now :woohoo:

I can't believe how fast time appears to be moving. I make the final payment on our package next week on the 4th.

Then I get to do my "Disney Specific" shopping. :goodvibes

Great job Hannah! She looks adorable in her dress.
Hope Alison has fun at the football game. What instrument does she play? I'm sure all the girls will have something to talk about now at the meet.:goodvibes
Emily's favorite part of high school so far is playing at the games. Amy played at one tonight with her middle school and will be playing at her sister's in a few weeks.
Happy 50s days. I must be close, too. Tomorrow we can say next month we're going to Disney World!:dance3:

Would you be interested in a photo pass share for November?
