Our plan is to make it to Georgia our first day of driving. I am going to redeem my airmiles for Best Western giftcards to cover the cost of the hotel on the way there and home.

I have looked at all the possible BW hotels in GA and they maximum occupancy for all the ones near 1 75 is 4 people. We are a family of 5. The kids are small and we could easily do two double beds, or 1 King and a sofabed. I know it's all about safety issues, but would it be that big of deal if we just got one room? I do not want to pay for two rooms!

Too bad you are driving down I75. There is a great BW at exit 102 on I95 at Pooler, GA. Bradbury Inns and Suites. Most of the rooms have two Queen size beds and another pullout sofa in a sitting room that is separate. We stayed there many times when we used to drive to WDW. Not very expensive either. We used Air Miles to redeem gift cards as well.

If it were me, I'd do 1 room with small children. Do you live near Detroit? Is that why you're heading down the way you are?

I live between London & Sarnia, only about 30 minutes from the Port Huron border crossing. We are going to have to do one room. I am not paying for two and my kids are only 8, 6 & 3. Avery sleeps with us most nights anyway so a king bed for her, dh & I would actually be a treat since we don't have a king at home  The boys are still young enough to sleep well on a sofa bed.

If you are booking your room ahead of time then call the hotel directly instead of the 1-800 number or on the Internet. Ask them if they will have a problem with 5 of you in a room. We fly out of Buffalo and stayed at the BEst WEstern at the airport so we could park our car there and they let us take one room with 3 adults and three kids (5,3,1). But it could also depend on the mood of the person at the time too.

We are not going to book ahead because we are not sure how far we will make it the first day. Our goal is to make it into Georgia, if it's going well we will try to get past Atlanta, but we'll have to see how it goes. I'm just going to print off the list of Best Westerns all along I 75 between Tennesee & Georgia.

Thanks so much for this advice we are driving down and this would be great.

We are a family of 5 and I feel your pain. Everything is set up for families of 4. We have found that Comfort Suites really suits our needs. Also, what we usually do is ask for an extra bed. It is usually $10 or something like that. Much cheaper than 2 rooms!
