-Tracy

18 miles for me this morning. And I am definitely feeling it!:sad2:

Tracy - I noticed my name is on the list above for nametags, but I already got mine!:thumbsup2

Gotcha Michelle - yep you are right! hehe

Tracy

20.5 miles banked, re-fueled, and ice bathed. Nothing going on the rest of the day. Yeah, boring day at our house. :lmao:

Sarah & Michelle - I am so jealous of you 2. I really miss tah tfeeling of accomplishmetn when you finnish your longest run ever. I think that's why I started tri's. Way to go!!!!!!

Lily - Are you over trianing? Your life when not trianing is so hectic, maybe you need a true rest day or 2. BTW, a wise person wonce told me that all that really matters at this point si gettign teh steps in. ;)

Jeff- WTG on your 20!

Kate - 2 years ago when I got my seasonal flu shot, I had that 24 of what felt like a semi-mild flu. Sorry you had to suffer, but you're right. So much better than havignthe real thing. Glad the rest of your weekend was so good!

Jim - WTG on teh 800 work. Yikes!!!! You were flyin'!

Thanks all for the kitty condolences.

Well, I decided a 14-miler (or any run) was still pushing it for me this weekend. I did do 60 min of wii+ yoga nd 40 min of other low/no impact stuff. 1:40, Not bad for a day I skipped my run. Of course, dh humbled me big time. He did his 14-miler in 2:04. Our PR for teh hald is 2:19. :rolleyes1 So, I now know that he does not need me to keep from burning himself out and that I do hold him back. he said it was lonely w/o me, though (good man). :goodvibes

Hey Warriors! I just updated my time on the sheet. Tracy or whoever can edit the formula, I think maintenance is needed at least on Jim's total for this month. Jim, I looked at your miles and hours and I'm thinking that is impossible! Yup, it is. There are some formula gaps. I sure hope none are missing in the other months. I was not able to assist with the formula correction.

Carrie, thanks for worring about overtraining and me. Naw, not happening. I'm not pushing the speed on a lot of the steps I take. Many are Kirby walks, but I do count them in my totals. I've got some bicycle/stationary bike miles in some too. Thanks for worrying. Truly, I need to be a little more persistant with the real part of the training and I'm trying to do that a bit more diligently.

Michelle, good job on those miles even if you didn't feel the love.

Today was pilates, Kirby walk and maybe stationary bike later. Happy training!

Lily: Thanks, I went back and checked the formula for this month and it was missing one cell for Jim and I fixed it. I checked his last month and that is correct.

If anyone sees and issue with your totals just let me know.

Tracy

Lily - You know me. I worry. :goodvibes Shoudl I get my drill sargeant voice out instead? ;)

Tracy - How's your world? Seems ike you've been quiet, except fro admin type stuff. Thanks fro doing all you do!!!!!

DId 60 min last night. Was ok after teh rust came off my legs.. Beautiful running weather. Did alittle ebtter than expected. Hip is not thrilled today, though. Not, awful, but I think I will do a pool run Thursday and hope i'm ok for Saturday. That's jsut 8, though. I really need to be better for teh 16 the following week. Starting to worry a bit now. Trying to take my own advice, though. It's better to be healed and undertrained than injured come race day. (Feel free to remind me of this if healing does not come soon)

Heigh Ho Warriors!!!

Today was one of those "swing & a miss" kind of days for me.

Yesterday I actually (for the first time EVER!!!) left work mid-shift (actually about 4 hours in..........) & came home because I was not feeling well. In the middle of a call I started to get nauseous with some dizziness, sweating & hot flashes. Either I was getting ill or going through the beginning of menopause (have not decided which yet...........................). Bleh.

Came home & slept curled up on a recliner for about 6 hours without moving a bit. I felt somewhat better this morning, so after doing a few chores I decided to go out and run a few miles...........................................

.....................................which was not the most intelligent decision I have made recently.

Long story short, I bailed out after about 3 miles and called it quits for the day.

Maybe back at it tomorrow, maybe not. Time (& Tropical Storm Ida) will tell.

You all are doing great. Time until the You-know-what grows short. Keep at it!

Hey Warriors,

Get out there and get it done!

Managed my typical 8 1/4 miles today. A little slow at the start after last Sunday's long run. Waiting for our waivers to arrive for the Honolulu Marathon next month. Should be arriving any time now.

Happy Veteran's day to all who have served in our country's Armed Services.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. I feel much better today. Not FASTER, just BETTER :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao: !!

I put in 9.1 miles today. Breezy, cloudy & intermittent showers greeted me today. When I got home I was not sure whether I was soaked due to sweat or rain. But all in all, not a bad morning.

T - 56 days and counting!!

Holy Cow! I've got a LOT of training to get done!! And not that much time !!

:scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1::scared1:

To quote Jerry Reed from "Smokey & the Bandit": "I've got a long way to go and a short time to get there..........."

Jim: NIce work and sooooo glad you are feeling better!!

Katie: Good to hear you didn't have more than just a day of feeling yucky. Love that you had a good run! Keep stretching those lower legs.

Carrie: Hey girl, you sound like you are getting in some good training!

Quote for the day:
“Promise me you'll always remember: You're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”~ A. A. Milne.

AFM: Training for the Spacecoast Half Marathon is coming along pretty well. I am doing a 1.5 min jog with about a 6 min racewalk and its working good. I did 4 miles tonight after work with an average 13:13 mile and I wasn't pushing it, so I know I can go faster. I am now in taper mode as my last long mileage of 12.5 miles was this past Sunday. I have 2 weeks and 3 days until the race!!!

So how is everyone doing with your training?
What has been your longest miles to this point?

Don't forget to be trying things now like hydration, gels, sports beans, blocks or whatever NOW and not on race day. Try to find the sock/shoe combination that works best for you. Find and remember the places that start to rub/chaffe more the more miles you go and use your BodyGlide.

ALSO PLEASE ALL January Disneyworld Race Participants, We are meeting before the WISH meet!! Friday, January 8th.
Meeting just across from the checkin/front desk area at Pop Century at 4pm. Let's get to match faces to names and take some photos!! Then we will walk over to the WISH meet in the food court when it starts at 4:30pm.

Have a good weekend everyone!

-Racey Tracy

Checking in with 6 miles. Training partner's back is causing him pain, so we cut the distance short today.

Have a happy Aloha Friday everyone.

Hey hey,

Good work Tracy and i loved that quote! Very inspiring :) and wonderful. 2 weeks and 3 days til the race has really come around- you're doing so well with the jog walking and those times are really seeing the improvement too :woohoo:

Jeff sorry you're training buddy's back is bad- every mile's a mile more tho :)

Jim You're scared message really just spelt out how I'm feeling too- time seems to be vanishing! So pleased you're feeling much better tho, who cares about speed?!? Hope you're staying safely away from the winds!

me had a fab 6.2 miles on TM on tues and it was a proper social event- saw lots of lovely people from work and running club who i've not been out with for a few months.Inspired me to try a run out with them next week calf/shin dependent. Not so good 3.6miler yesterday- know exactly why tho as just got up and ran, no food and no water= kate doesn't get very far! The weather's been nasty here past 2 days, very heavy rain so hoping it's all gone for tomorrow's run. Did a serious amount of christmas shopping yesterday so feel very proud ... and so ready for santa! he he

Longest run in this build up so far is just over 10miles :rotfl: :lmao::rotfl2:

Can't wait to see you all in Jan and bring my mummy along too :cheer2:

Kate: Good to hear that you're getting out there for some longer runs, after all your shin problems this fall! And seriously, you're Christmas shopping? Wow! I usually get mine done.... oh.... around December 23rd. :lmao:

Jeff: The unplanned short runs can sometimes be a nice break; also, miles is 6 miles!

Tracy: Congrats on making it to the taper for your November half! Good to hear that the jogging seems to be paying off, without too much more wear and tear on your body!

Jim: Is it seriously 56 days? Like, really? I'm about to have a panic attack, here.

Me? I'm taking a bit of a break this week. I'm having some shin pain (*headdesk*) so am trying to take it easy. I have 9 miles on the calendar for Saturday, and 17 miles for Sunday.... we'll see how much of that gets done. I don't want to miss my long run on Sunday, so Saturday's run might get scrapped. No point killing myself with back-to-backs before the Goofy, right?

Also, we're meeting with this pretty little girl tomorrow, so this might throw a wrench into the weekend's running plans. I know that we are positively batty for even considering a second German Shepherd in our downtown apartment, but... we have a weakness for homeless shepherds and she sounds like a perfect addition to our family. We've been pre-approved for adoption, pending Jack and her getting along, so I'm crossing my fingers that Jack decides Sasha can stay.

Now I'm off to go clean the apartment, because if we do end up with another snuggle-shepherd, nothing else will get done all weekend! :goodvibes Happy weekend, Warriors!

Sarah, oooh she is a lovely gal. I do hope Jack gets along with her. Will you be breeding little sheps?

Jim, glad your feeling better.

Jeff, sorry your run was cut a bit short. Hope your partner feels better.

Kate, good job getting out and hope that those shins hold up for you now. Take it easy on your pace for a bit.

Yes, it is getting closer isn't it...:scared1:

I'm plodding away. This weekend is 8 miles. It will be hot for me in the 60 range. I like it a bit cooler. I'm glad it's 8 miles and not 16.

Sarah sasha is beautiful! Random question for when you adopt her (because you clearly will!)- would you change her name or keep it? I've always wondered that! Eek for your shins- take lots and lots of care and i'll be thinking of you.

Lily Enjoy your 8miler and the warm weather- make the most of it before it vanishes!

Me OK i did it- 11.16 miles in 1hr 39. Really struggled to warm up the shin and my mind for the first 3-4 miles, that urge to stop is really bugging me! Then it was pretty much plain sailing! A few out of breath moments when i hit small inclines- hill fitness has died, but i just don't care as things feel in grasp now. Have my first running lesson on thursday since shin probs so hopefully we'll tackle the head stuff- he's fab with confidence building.

Hope you're all havinh wonderful weekends and looking forward to reading all about them

So, I missed my run today, but did gain a family member:

DSC01039.jpg

Here is Jack (always the little attention hog!) with our new family member, Sasha! I tried for the total limit of her "stay" time to get her to perk her ears up for the photo, but that will have to come with time. She's incredibly friendly and confident, but gets her "submissive ears" on whenever she's interacting with someone. We knew it was probably going to work out when, within five minutes of meeting each other at a dog park, a boxer took a snap at Sasha and Jack leaped to defend her. :rotfl: She's a great big (could stand to lose 5-10 lbs, so we'll have to work on that!) cuddle bug who greets everyone with a wagging tail!

Ok, and to answer the couple questions:

Lily: Both Jack and Sasha have been "altered" so there will be no baby shepherds. They're awfully cute, but I think 2 is the limit for our apartment! :lmao:

Kate: We did decide to keep her original name, in this case. In cases where the dogs have been dropped off at the shelter, the rescue group always changed their names; this is to remove any negative association that the dog may have, such as in a case where the dog has been abused. For example, because Jack was dropped off at a shelter, his name has been changed; he was originally Tucker at his first home, and then Thunder at his foster home. However, since Sasha was surrendered directly to the rescue by her owners and they know her complete history, she got to keep her name in her foster home. We could have changed her name, but decided that she simply is a Sasha. And she looks so happy and excited when you call her to you by her name!

Yo Warriors.

How's everyone doing with their miles and smiles? Good I hope.

Did a short 16 miler, great conditions despite some headwinds. Good times with training group.

Have a great week everyone.

P.S. Nice looking German Shepherds. They look hungry, LOL.

Sarah - Congratulations on the new edition to family! She is beautiful and happy!

I'm glad everyone is getting their miles in and no one has reported any serious injuries....so I guess we'll all be making the trip in January! Whoo hooo!

I ran the Big Sur half marathon this morning, and it was beautiful! I didn't look at the course before the run on purpose and boy was I surprised! Beautiful scenic views of the coast, an out and back for about 4 miles, but it is all along the coast with a golf course on the other side! WOW does it get any better than that. The weather started out cold, but quickly warmed up around mile 2 or so, sunny and no winds! And the finishers medal is made of clay with a leather necklace tied onto it. This 1/2 is trying to get GREEN certified this year. Solar power at the start and everything is recycled! Only in California!
