November 7, 2009 ~~~~ AHOY ST.CROIX ~~~~

Gail posted wedding photos on the double dip thread, she'll probably be over here to post soon - WHAT a gorgeous family!

Finally got warm here and today it's supposed to not rain, so that's a good thing.

Traci? Are you in need of a hug, babe? (You said you needed a laugh) Sending some just in case!

Happy Day, all!

Hi all:

We just booked this cruise the other day because we needed a get-away. There are five of us cruising, my wife and I, DS15 (turning 16 on-board), DS13 and DD7. This will be our 4th DCL cruise, but the last one was the 10-night holiday cruise in 2006, so this will be much different for us. We're from the southwest suburbs of Chicago.

No time to catch up on all the posts now, but I'll try to later. Looking forward to some sun in November as Chicago turns cold...

Yes I did need a laugh. Work has been so terrible lately. I have been so over worked and over whelmed. Thanks for the hugs... It's so nice to have you guys as pals and can't wait to get to know ya more.:flower3:

Hi All. Sorry to be so slow at getting pics posted for you to see. The wedding was gorgeous. Thanks to those that asked. Other than the DJ bowing out (via email no less) the night before it was hitchless. Had Cara not read her email while eating breakfast on her wedding day, the reception would have been a bit odd but she was able to find one and he was awesome - just awesome. He really could not have been better - and the other guy, don't get me started.

But, I digress - here you go. My connection is slow at home so I need to get more on Photobucket so I have more to share.

Did someone ask about St. John? I backtracked and am no too tired to think straight. But, it is absolutely gorgeous. DH and I did a DCL excursion when we did the Southern back in whenever that was on the Wonder. It was just a tour, no beach time. I would love to go back but I think I would do it through DCL, I am brave about excursions through other people but doing the ferry and all that alone - I just worry I would not be back in time. St. Maartin is my favorite shopping island, St. Thomas and St. John are the most beautiful (in my opinion anyway).

See what I mean - breathtaking.

I should really try and reduce those...later, I promise. I need to catch up on some sleep and some laundry and some sleep and some dishes and, oh yeah, some sleep. One would think I had gotten married :lmao:!

I have a bit more energy tonight than what I have had the last several days. Must be I am finally catching up on the shut eye.

I even have enough energy to be thinking about FE's and excursions. If I am going to make something, I need to get cracking. I saw something on the homemade FE thread that I just might try - cute idea I thought. If I only had more imagination (hey, isn't there a song about that??). Honest, I really didn't drink my dinner - I really didn't.

Welcome aboard. We're counting down the days....also looking forward to sun while Boston is cold and probably snowing when we leave.

Nice!!!!! It's great to have a little time to yourself. What are you getting done? Just general house stuff, or any fun projects?

I was at Newport Beach, Ca today... ahhhhhh the best beach weather ever! Plus, it was a dog beach I didn't even know existed. SO fun! My Lab loved it and even tried to swim waaayyy out in the surf with my DD who was bodysurfing. It's been 100+ every day at home so getting out to the beach where it's just 80 is fab-u-lous! Although I did comment that I am looking forward to that warm Caribbean sea!

I went to the beach today with a friend, who is going on a Land/Sea trip the same week we are on our cruise. We did the Land and Sea last year, talked so much about it afterwards, our friends have booked it this year. :cool1:So I finally got someone to talk Disney to!!! LOL. I think my family is tired of it (except the kids, of course!).

I'm wondering about the Lindamood wedding too! I hope it all went beautifully.

Christine

I'm trying to get my house in order and ready for the new school year and cruise but not really being productive. Been enjoying spending time with friends going places I normally don't get to go being a single mom. But knowing she is enjoying herself with my family makes it easier for me to have fun too. I'm buckling down this week and getting stuff done....LOL

Just joining the discussion here! We are going to be joining all of you on board November 7 for a fantastic time... myself (Laurie), my hubby, our 6 year old boy/girl twins, my mother and father in law, my husband's brother, his wife and their 8, 6 and not quite 1 year old kids. 11 of us in total, all from London, Canada. (just about 1 hr from the US border at Michigan)
We recently got out little books in the mail, I am wondering if anyone knows which nights will be the formal nights and which night the pirate party happens? I want to make Palo res. but not on those nights, as I want to enjoy those with the kiddos.
We are so excited, it's our first Disney cruise! We were at WDW (Caribbean Beach Res) in Jan of 08 and had an awesome time, I'm sure the cruise will be just as great!

Looking forward to talking with everyone.

Is this idea still running around? I think it would be great to have. If everyone wants to I have no problem with helping out with it.

I think the idea is still here. I ordered them (the wristbands) and distributed them on our last 2 cruises and am happy to do it again. I just haven't said anything because it seems like the best time to do it is after final payment when we know who is going for sure. Last cruise I sent them to everyone a couple weeks before the cruise so that everyone had them before they left so that you can wear them at the terminal and the parks and so I didn't have to spend so long passing them out on the ship. Tracy, if you want to take care of the wristbands you can, or if you want to help me get the list and the info out to everyone that would be great too. You've got the FE list so you could email everyone on that and I could pm those on this thread to get sizes and orders. Last time I had everyone paypal the $ or send me checks or money orders, then I ordered the wristbands and sent them out. The price will depend on how many we order. I also included the paypal fees and shipping into the price so that the costs were covered.

So, next month we can decide on the text for the wristbands and we can start to gather info on sizing and quantity. The company I used last time did a good job and had a better size selection.

Welcome Laurie! I'm not sure when the formal and pirate nights are, maybe post on the regular cruise boards and someone who has gone on the St. Croix cruise can tell you how it was on their cruise (unless someone else on this board knows for sure. It seems to vary based on the itinerary. If you happen to book Palo for one of those nights, you can always change your night once we board the ship and when you know your dining rotation. You will love DCL, but watch out--you'll get hooked (but that is a good thing)!

I just got off the phone with DCL and the attire itinerary is as follows:

Night 1: Cruise Casual
Night 2: Formal
Night 3: Cruise Casual
Night 4: Pirate
Night 5: Cruise Casual
Night 6: Semi-Formal
Night 7: Cruise Casual

Thanks for calling DCL and for sharing the info. Laurie (and any other first time DCL cruisers)--you will not want to miss your Animator's Palate dinner because when it is the rotation there (not a special menu, but just the Animator's menu) they do a "show" in the restaurant and that is the only night you'll see that. Since you won't know when you'll rotate to Animator's until you board the ship, just pick a night for Palo and then change it once you board if it is the same night as Animator's.

On the 7 day cruise, will we rotate through the 3 restaurants twice? I am assuming yes, but I'm sure that you veterans know for sure. Thanks.

I'm sorry to be a bit of a newbie here, but... :confused3
I've been reading about these fish extenders and have figured out that they are sort of mailboxes that hang on a fish outside of your door, right?
So... my question is, how does it work? Does everyone bring one and trade with someone else, or do we bring our own and use the one we bring? It looks like people put things in them... who puts the stuff in? Do the staff on the ship put goodies in there, or is it the others in your group?
This sounds very fun and we'd love to take part, but I will need a bit of direction as to how much and what kind of stuff to bring along. Any other tips or info that you could give me would be most appreciated.
Thanks for your patience with this newbie.

I am the one that asked about St. Thomas. After doing some research, I found that Blackbeards Castle was there. I was wondering if anyone had ever been there. I think my kids would love it.

Saw G-Force today! LOVED IT !!!!!!! We have guienna pigs so it had a special place in our hearts. Don't know if I would fork out the extra 4.00 for the 3D version though.

If Blackbeards is a DCL excursion, check the excursion reviews that Lisa keeps in the stickys on the main board. Even if you are thinking of going on your own and there is a DCL excursion, it would be good reference material. I have a Frommers Caribbean 2005 book and there isn't anything in it that.
