November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Mom x 4,

The meeting time and place are very well thought out. It is perfect.

We will be there!:dance3:

I also think there will be as many people there as in the photo you had.

It is still a few months away and look how many people are already

interested.:cheer2:

Ok, then it looks like a few of you like the Promenade Lounge meet. I will include it on our Cruise mates list, so we don't forget about it.
That would be amazing if we had that large a group.:cloud9:

Kathy

Wow you guys have been busy. I have not checked in for a while, due to vacation etc! Kathy (Mom x4) thanks for your PM. Yes we are still cruising on Nov 5th, not sure about FE, never participated before, but i am sure the kids would find it fun. This will be our 3rd time on DCL.

It will be me Claire (39 time of cruise)
DH Jim(45 time of cruise)
DD Emma(11 at time of cruise)
DS Josh(8 at time of cruise)

We will also be joined by my parents, my Mom will actually have her birthday the day of boarding!

I will try to get on here more now that i know our board is jumping :yay:

That tome sounds good. I'm not quite sure what time I need to meet up with my wedding coordinator, but I will try my best to be there

I would like to suggest we have our meet the first day at 3 P.M. in the Promenade lounge.

Then we can meet face to face and the kids will have time to meet in person so they will know someone before going to the clubs.

Here is why I am suggesting this place and time over other places.

1. For new people it is really easy to find.
Once you board the ship they always send you down a hallway to your left for lunch. As you walk down that hallway you will walk right past the Promenade lounge.

2. This is a family lounge and there is never anything going on there the first afternoon accept for selling of water and wine packages sometimes.
Plenty of tables and chairs for everyone. Especially if we sit at the end near the Computer area.

3. There is a bar if anyone wants a drink. Its ok to bring pop or coffee, tea or cocoa from the free drink station on deck 9 there if you want. Bathrooms are close too.

4. It's inside so the weather won't matter and its quiet so we can hear ourselves talk. Outside by the pools is really noisy.

5. By 3 p.m. everyone is usually on board and have had time for them to have had lunch, checked out their rooms and checked out the kids clubs.
The mandatory safety drill is always around 4 p.m. so this still give us time before that.

6. Any other day on the ship people will be busy running around having fun. After the drill will be the Adventures away party, then dinner, shows etc..
Any earlier and people may not be on the ship yet.

So what do the rest of you think??:confused3

This is everyones cruise so lets hear if you have a better place and time or if you like this one.

Once we have all decided I will include the information with the FE list i have made for everyone.

Speak up and let's hear what everyone thinks about this.popcorn::

Kathy

Nice to meet everyone!
My name is Alyssa (age 26) and DH is Spencer also 26. If i can't send PM's tell I've posted like 15 times i guess i'll have to get to posting.....lol.
The FE sounds like lots of fun, i have been reading up on it and i think i get the idea. Not very handy with a needle but it looked like there were some nice extenders on e-bay. I will post room number later on my lunch break (really and excuse to get my post numbers up) I would like to decorate my door, so kathy can you tell me how to make the magnetic signs? I can't wait to meet everyone. Like several others we are booked in the late seating and we are going to spend the day before the cruise running around disney with my sister if anyone wants to meet up and maybe grab a drink. The echo hike sounds really nice, we both love walking in the woods.
Wanted to post pic of engagement it was at the castle but you have to have at least 10 posts so that will have to wait. (Yes my husband knows me well, you can't say no at the royal table!)
alyssa

Well we booked our flight down. We are flying down Friday morning. Now to decide on where to stay and what to do for the day. Pool/beach or other?

Good morning everyone,

Claire, its good to know your names. Just let me know when ever you decide about the FE. So happy you decided to start posting again. Yhis cruise will be here before you know it:woohoo:

Alyssa,
Thats really neat you got engaged at the Castle. I have seen a wedding by the wishing well beside the castle once.
I will add you to the FE , so be sure and give me your cabin#.

I will be looking forward to seeing the photo soon.

We will be at The All Star Music before the crusie and soemone (sorry I forget who) is staying at Bay Lake Towers before the cruise. Maybe the 3 of us can meet some where for a few minutes?? We can figure it out when the trip is a bit closer if your interested.:goodvibes

Greg has a hurt knee today so I need to cancel our beach trip thsi weekend and reschedule it for next weekend if they have a vacancy. If not I will try for the following weekend. Just NOT Labor day weekend. We stay home that weekend due to all the crazy drivers and large crowds.

Have a great day everyone, I will be popping in on and off all day today, as usual.:flower3:

Kathy

Hi everyone,

I had a crazy busy day yesterday (was gone literally from 8:15 AM - 11:30 PM and was only home for like 2 hours during that whole time... just a lot going on, things to do, people to meet, kids... etc. etc. My life is normally not that busy. So, I'm just getting caught up from yestredays posts. And, just FYI, today we are driving down to Oregon... Kathy's terriroty (Grandma X4) :)... and we'll come home Sunday night. We're going down for an annual family reuinion... we'll be on the Oregon Coast, which is SO beautiful!! So, I won't be posting while I'm gone probably.... if I do, it won't be much. But, I'll be back on the bandwagon next week.

I just wanted to respond to some posts yesterday....

Here is a picture of Darcie (my sister) and her son Dennis who is 5... Dennis does not speak too much English just Swedish, though he fully understands English.

This sounds GREAT to me!! And, the time, day, place is perfect for all the reasons you mentioned!! Yay, can't wait to meet all you guys!! Thanks, Kathy, for setting this up! :)

Hi never posted on dis boards (read it for info all the time) before but thought it might be fun. Just booked this cruise for dh and I and couldn't be more excited. Hoping my sister and parents will join us but that depends on other factors for now. My family is big into Disney, I did a college internship there with my sister, she stayed and works in magic kingdom. We go to Disney every year (my poor husband) but this is our first Disney cruise. We got married two years ago on a carnival ship, but I think we'll like Disney better. Still 12 more days tell I can book excursions, hoping the goods ones don't fill up. Any ideas on what is interesting for adults, okay swimmers, no long bus rides (I get sick) would be welcome. Thanks!

Welcome!!! This is a fun group of people, so looking forward to you joining. :) You will LOVE the Disney Cruise... I remember our first cruise, I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but literally before our first day was even over, I told my DH that we are definitely booking another cruise! LOL!! I knew from being on the ship for just 2 hours that I was hooked. :) You will love it! Hope you can find some good excursions... You will find ones that work perfect for you guys for sure!! :)

We also have late dining as well but we requested it. We like to see the ship sail from ports and watch the sunsets.

Hopefully, Brandon will eat with us at some of the dinners. Sometimes he likes to eat earlier and go to the kids club.

We also made reservations for Palo the night of our anniversary!

I had forgotten that one benefit to late dining is watching us leave from ports and the sunsets!! Now, I'm even more excited about late dining... and yes, our kids do the same.... they either will eat with us for like 20 minutes and then go to the kids club, or they just get room service before we go to teh dining room, and then they go to the kids club while we eat at the dining room. :)

Yay, for celebrating your anniversary at Palo....that is how I feel about celebrating my 40th at Palo on this cruise. Can't wait! How many years will you be married? Congrats!!

Nice to meet everyone!

Welcome, Alyssa!! Can't wait to see the picture! Looking forward to meeting you guys, too. It sounds like so many of us are doing late dining!! How fun!!

Ok, I need to go and finish packing and we are driving out of here soon!!

Have a good weekend everyone, and I'll be back here Sunday night or Monday.

Take care,
Kathy

Hi everyone!

rob_jen - yeah you booked your flight :)

Hi Claire and Alyssa.

I found absolut_Mandy's Designs does great name fills and she is fast... http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2729487

Kathy (mom X4) Sorry to hear that Greg hurt his knee and you have to cancel your plans. Hope he will recover soon.

Tanya

Kathy (lovestorun): Yup identical twins... She is skinnier though LOL Have a great trip and enjoy!
Tanya

Where are you staying the night before? We still can't decide. If its one night we will stay near the port. Save a ton of money too.

What we may want to do is fly in Thursday and stay at a WDW resort then drive to the port on Saturday morning. This is what I want to do but I do not know if its worth pulling the kids out of school for one more day. They would be missing Friday and 3 days during the cruise week already. We would not go to a park (resiting) but relax at a nice resort and go to downtown Disney at night.

Cant make up my mind. I wish there was a really nice resort near the port to stay.

We are staying here:
Country Inn & Suites By Carlson Orlando Airport
5440 Forbes Pl
Orlando, FL 32812
United States of America
Phone: 1 (407) 856-8896

Our flight doesn't get in until 10:30 Fri night and I wanted a place close to the airport that offers free shuttle. I booked through Expeida for $84 total

For getting to port I booked a car through Florida Tours. They do the 30 min grocery stop on the way to port :thumbsup2 We plan to fully load up! I requested a pick up of 10:30.

Danielle

Kathy, I see you had a Navigator's Verandah--did you like it? That is what I have booked.

The meet up time sounds good to me. Don't know if I'll get my DH there, but me & Bella will be :) She'll really want to meet the other kiddos!

Welcome MulanRocks!

I am not the Kathy your referring to but I will throw in my 2 cents worth on verandah's.

I have had all 3 styles of verandahs. Each one had its own perks. I liked them all.
Only downside to the Navigator is you have to walk out and stand up on the balcony to actually see out. So you cant really sit out there and watch the ocean. But i don't mind standing and kind of putting my arms on it and looking out. Still a great view.

The others you can see out from your room, they are less obstructed, especially the clear plexi glass ones over the solid half wall ones. But they are really expensive.

This time we have a GTY room so not sure if we will will get the inside room or a free upgrade which has happened 3 times to us. Should know a couple weeks prior to the cruise.
We arn't in the room that much, so as long as I am on the ship I am happy:goodvibes

I just saw this (I missed it earlier)... sorry about Greg's knee and you had to cancel your beach trip this weekend. Hope he gets better soon... hope you can make it to the beach next weekend!

I agree about not traveling on Labor Day Weekend.... we always stay home that weekend. Not worth the crowds, traffic and high hotel rates, etc.

Take care,
Kathy

Alyssa,
Door sings are fun and easy to make
Fist Disney only allows magnets to attach things to their doors. No tape or such things allowed.

Easiest thing to do is to buy magnetic sheets of paper. It is sold by speciality computer paper in most places like Office Max or Best Buy, even some Wal Marts have it. Some don't call them magnetic papers.

They are sold in packs of 5 to 7 pages, usually packaged in a lightweight cardboard wrapper. You want standard sheet paper size, the size of a piece of normal notebook paper. I think is 8 1/2 X 11.

Then it will run through a printer ok. I have dozens of pictures to choose from that you can have. You save them and then print off on the magnetic paper just like you would print off any photo. If you know how to use your computers paint program you can write on them too.

Just do a printing first on normal paper to verify the photo is the right size.
Most of mine are already sized correctly.

If you don't have a printer or access to one, you still can use the magnetic paper and go to either a craft store or scrap booking store to look at stickers. They come in all shapes and sizes and colors.
You can even get 4-D puffy ones that look great. You can buy them on line too. They sell them Disney themed, cruise themed, and even some just for the ports we are going to. You can make your own design.

That's all their is to it. If you have questions please ask.

Just send me an e-mail and I will send you some pictures to choose from. I can't send through this site.
my e-mail is sixtoedfrog@yahoo.com

Also ANYONE who has not e-mailed me or given me their e-mail please do so if you want a copy of the cruise mates list I have made or the FE list. They are all in one file that I am going to send to everyone soon.
I can't PM them out, I must email. so send me your addresses if i don't already have them so you can get a copy.

Kathy

You are the Kathy I was referring to, I could see the verrandah in the pic you posted :goodvibes Thanks for the info, I think I'll like it b/c from what I read, it is less windy. And I won't be as worried about DD falling over.

Now i am super excited! I had no idea there was so much fun to be had before even leaving on the trip. My parents have done two disney cruises but i think they missed out on all the fun of disboards. Door decorating, FE exchange, meet ups, i can't wait.
Daniellenbella, we are also in a navigator room, my parents stayed in one and loved it. My older sister stayed in it too and said there was plenty of room for three adults, So DH and i decided to splurge.
Our room is Room #5132
I used the link and looked up the rooms around it (our cabin wasn't listed). I'm really pleased, the reviews were wonderful.
Kathy i am sending you an e-mail so i can get all the info. Spending my spare time searching through disboards about door signs and FE gifts. DH has been feeling guilty bc he's super busy but now i have project to keep me super busy!
Question on FE: I saw on some boards that they assigned nights to ppl for FE so that the gifts were spread out. Are we going to do this?
Alyssa

Second Question i forgot: Where do i see what the themed night is? Is it Pirates? I would love to dress up.
Alyssa

OK I will playing around on a paint program, I saw a one like it on the another thread though want to know if this is cheesy and was thinking about printing it out for the door.... Looks like my kids did it but nope it was me, I am not creative at all...
