November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Maybe you have already checked these out, but there are two great Eastern Caribbean reports on the trip reports thread. One is by Karajeboo and the other by KristiMc (I think!). They have many beautiful pictures and Karajeboo's has video links! :)

Now i am super excited! I had no idea there was so much fun to be had before even leaving on the trip. My parents have done two disney cruises but i think they missed out on all the fun of disboards. Door decorating, FE exchange, meet ups, i can't wait.
Daniellenbella, we are also in a navigator room, my parents stayed in one and loved it. My older sister stayed in it too and said there was plenty of room for three adults, So DH and i decided to splurge.
Our room is Room #5132
I used the link and looked up the rooms around it (our cabin wasn't listed). I'm really pleased, the reviews were wonderful.
Kathy i am sending you an e-mail so i can get all the info. Spending my spare time searching through disboards about door signs and FE gifts. DH has been feeling guilty bc he's super busy but now i have project to keep me super busy!
Question on FE: I saw on some boards that they assigned nights to ppl for FE so that the gifts were spread out. Are we going to do this?
Alyssa

On the cruises I have done we never assigned nights for people to deliver their gifts.
We did it when ever we had the time. There are so many events happening all the time I personally dont want to have a specific time or day to have to deliver them.

I would rather just do it when it fits in my schedule of events i want to go do on the ship. I cant plan on that ahead of time because I dont know until each day when I read the Navigator what I will be doing.

If people want to assign times and days we can but I don't think its necessary.
I know that if I had to chose between missing a one time event on board and delivering a FE gift at a specific time, the gift would not get delivered at the assigned time.

Besides I think its fun to just have them randomly appear throughout the cruise.

Now is the time to speak up everyone if you have an opinion about this.
Its a group decision, not my decision. Lets hear what you all have to say about it.popcorn::

Thanks, I will check it out this evening. I love TR's. I always post one after our cruises.

Theme night will be pirates with a pirate party on deck with fireworks.

It is really fun. EVERYONE is invited to dress up in their pirate outfits and go to dinner that way and stay in costume until after the pirate party.

The fireworks are awesome!!
They have some good foods and delicious fattening, yummy 10 million calories desserts set out after the party too on deck 9.:cloud9:
So save room at dinner for those!!
Plus they usually play one of the POTC movies on the Jumbo tron after the party to watch. Its cool sitting out on deck late night, dressed as apirate watching the movie.

Not sure if they still do it, but they use to do a photo on pirate night in the evening with Captain Jack Sparrow. Best to arrive 10 minutes early because it gets to be a long line very quickly. Usually there is one setting for early and one for late dining.
We gave up dessert to arrive early and we were still the 5th in line.:guilty: But it moved fast and was really worth the time waiting.

Also on CC day check the Navigator for the time Captain Jack will be out for photos with the Flying Dutchman behind you in the photo. To do this you must walk in to the beach area, do not ride the tram because it wont stop by Captain Jack.

its a really neat photo.

OK I will playing around on a paint program, I saw a one like it on the another thread though want to know if this is cheesy and was thinking about printing it out for the door.... Looks like my kids did it but nope it was me, I am not creative at all...

I like both of these but the bottom one is my favorite. I love bright colors!! Nice job. I am no good with our paint program, I only can add letters to door signs. Even then Greg helps me.

You are the Kathy I was referring to, I could see the verrandah in the pic you posted :goodvibes Thanks for the info, I think I'll like it b/c from what I read, it is less windy. And I won't be as worried about DD falling over.

It does have a safer feel with kids but remember they can't see out unless you hold them up or they stand on one of the chairs out there which puts them up extra high, so you still need to keep a close eye on her so she doesn't lean over the railing.

The door to go out is heavy and has 2 locks. One is up really high so its great security for little ones. It's all I can do to slide that door open when its unlocked sometimes.

I'm sure you will really enjoy it.

Kathy

Good morning everyone,

The weekend is almost here:cool1:

I know Kathy is off to a reunion but does anybody else have plans this weekend?? Soon school will be started again so people will be settling down again.
My excitement for today is to do the laundry:lmao:

I will look for more photos to share too. I must have 3,000 cruise photos but the first few cruises are not on my computer. So you don't have to worry about me boring you with all of them, just 2,000. :rotfl2: Of course i have just as many from WDW:yay:

Back soon,

Kathy

Thanks for the tip! I didn't think about her not being able to see through the hole. She's pretty tall (4'3") though so maybe she'll be OK? It looks like it started a bit above the half way point of the wall?

I like the stick people! I think now I remember seeing some stick people with Mickey Hats on the backs of cars?? I think I might do that, thanks for the idea! :) The colorful one is great and I was looking through some yesterday, but I don't have a color printer. Is there someplace to go where you can bring a copy on a thumb drive thingy and have them print it for you?

I think places like Office Max, or Office Depot do color printing for a price. Perhaps if you brought in your own magnetic sheets or bought yours from them they may do it.
Years ago I took photos to an Office Max and left them to have printed off onto a sheet and they did that. It was then made into a memory quilt for my mom. So if they did that, they should do your project.
So you might ask at any local office supply store.

Also a few drug stores are set up where you can do your own color prints from a stick but I dont know what size or if you can change the paper for magnetic sheets?? Our Walgreens is set up that way.

I think the Flying Dutchman is gone. They tore it down according to the DCL pic of the day thread.

We saw it years ago and it was awesome.

Thats terrible:sad2: I am glad we got our photos before it was gone.

Thanks for updating me.

Ok i just sent out the 1st copy of our lists.
I discovered I dont have email address for rob-jen, Caroyln and Claire.

You may have sent it to me and some how I misplaced it. I appologise if that is the case. If you send it to me soon then I will send you out a list right away. My e-mail is sixtoedfrog@yahoo.com

Thanks for your help,

Kathy

Second Question i forgot: Where do i see what the themed night is? Is it Pirates? I would love to dress up.
Alyssa

From what I've been told, Pirate Party is the night that we are in St. Maarten, Tues, Nov 8. I am pretty bummed about that. It's going to be one LONG day and I don't know how late we'll be able to stay up.

Sorry Kathy meant to send you my email address, it has been a crazy week. My brother was here for a visit, busy entertain the kids and having to deal with car insurance and body shop people. My DH and DS were rear-ended last week and my van is a pretty good mess, anyway I will send you my email address right now:)

I plan on spending a stressfree relaxing day by the pool, at the swim club tomorrow, soaking every last minute of summer.... Maybe I will actually get around to looking at excusions!

We're booked and have been for a year on the Nov 5th Eastern Carribean Disney Cruise. We've been reading up on recommendations, things to do on board and shore excursions as well as hints and tips for cruising. It is our 1st cruise ever and 1st Disney Cruise. We went to DisneyWorld in May for the 1st time with our 5 year old son. He had a great time despite the 95 degree heat. We're thinking of going again the day before the DC. Is anyone else doing a pre or post Cruise visit to DisneyWorld?:flower3:

No internet at my house so i won't be posting again until monday.

Kathy- I'm with you and would rather not assign times for the FE. And thanks for the door signs I briefly had like 20 but i've narrowed it back down to 12. Thats not too many......

Thanks Danielle and rob_jen for the information on the theme night. I told DH he will be dressing up in whatever i get him. Luckily halloween is before the cruise so there will be lots of choices.

Ordered my FE today and am very excited. Now i'll just personalize it when it gets here. Thanks to my mom for teaching me the value of puff paint.

WELCOME !!!

I am Kathy and DH is Greg. There is another Kathy and a Kathleen here too. I am the oldest of the 3 so you can call me grandma Kathy if you want:lmao: To keep us separate.

What are your names?

We will be staying at WDW at the All Star Music for a week before the cruise. There are 2 more families going to WDW before the cruise too.
We lived in Florida for 8 years and practically lived at WDW but not much in the summer. The heat and humidity is terrible.

It should be really nice this time of the year.

I posted a list of tips for first time cruisers a few pages back. Most tips are relevant accept the one about photos with Capt Jack Sparrow by the Flying Dutchman since it is now gone:sad1: I will go back and see where it is and let you know. It may help you too.

I have put together a list of everyone here so we can get aquainted and people can find others with kids the same age as their kids, hopefully to get aquainted before the cruise.
I would love to add you guys to the list.
Also do you know about the FE gift exchange yet? I dont know if you read about it on the boards or not.
If not please let me know and I will happily explain it to you so you can decide if you want to join in that fun with us too.

I have a special list of people who are doing that too.
You cant send PM's until you get from 12 to 15 posts here but you can e-mail me at sixtoedfrog@yahoo.com if you want me to explain the FE or door signs.

Our thread is really going great now with many excited people, Glad to have you joining in the fun.:cheer2::cheer2:

Hope you will post often.
Found the tips on page 5 of this thread. ignore the tip about arrival time since now you are assigned a time and the above Capt Jack that I mentioned. But the rest should be helpful.
