November 5th 2011 Eastern on the Magic

Thanks for the tips so far! I'm going to get started on my Word doc this weekend. I need one list that has everything from items to pack, confirmation numbers, times and addresses of places to be, etc and this seemed like the easiest method so far...

Today is my day off (because I work on Sundays) and so I get to sit around and stare at my very short countdown chain while waiting for my iPhone 4S to arrive.

Nice! :thumbsup2 The specs on the 4S look great so hopefully the phone can back those up. Apple doesn't seem to fail very often though! I got started on upgrading the iPads to iOS 5 this morning. Took longer than I thought it would with the first one (about an hour or so for some reason) so the rest are going to get done tonight when the kids aren't using them.

I'm still waiting for word on the Galaxy Nexus. Supposedly showed up in Verizon's and Best Buys systems today. Latest rumor is a release date of Nov 3. If that turns out to be the case, I'll have a new toy right before the trip!

Happy Birthday!!!:cheer2: Hope you have a great day!

Why we chose DCL? Well my kids wanted to go to Disney and I wanted to go on a cruise so we meshed them together!

Thanks for the tips already this morning, can't wait to read more!!!

It is raining here today :( tomorrow Sean has Apple Day with the cubs and I am running all the apples, lets hope the rain will stay away till we are finished!

tanya

Thanks for the birthday wishes Tanya

:bday: :cake: :bday:

Claire,
Wishing for you a magical day.
Let someone else do the cooking and the dishes today. You sit down and put your feet up and relax. Do something just for yourself.:goodvibes

Kathy

Thanks for the Birthday Wishes Kathy.

I wish i could say i sat down and put my feet up, but i didn't!

But i did have a great day, Emma made dinner and she made my birthday cake:banana:

Thanks Kathy,

Thanks for reminding me of hitting the big 40 next year:scared1:

They say you are only as old as you feel, right:banana:

:) Oh, you're welcome! :cheer2:

That is very true that you are only as old as you feel!!! I definitely do not feel (almost) 40, so to me, it's just a big number that you get to celebrate... and for me, any reason to celebrate is a good reason. :dancer::dancer::dancer:

Enjoy the rest of your birthday! :dance3:

I'm excited because I just got my FE gifts! Now, all my FE stuff is complete (made my FE last weekend, and now I have the gifts). I had thought about getting the FE gifts on the trip at the ports, but then I decided I didn't want the pressure of knowing I needed to get FE gifts while at port or in the store on the ship (and we actually aren't going to be doing much shopping anyway). So, I got everything, and I'm really happy about what I got! :) :)

Then, the last bit of fun will be delivering them at some point on our cruise! :dance3:

This will be our first FE exchange (even though this will be our 4th cruise), so I'm looking forward to the experience!

Good evening all,

Been a warm sunny day today which is very unusual for us this time of the year.

Another tip for first time cruisers is Your kids can order from the kids or adult menu. So just because they hand your child a kids menu, that doesnt mean they cant order from the adult menu.

Also when we had young kids with us we often grabbed extra piece of fruit from Goofys Galley or the buffet or those small packages of cold cereal or yogurt to take back to the room and put in the cooler for a late night snack in case we didnt want to take them out again or use room service for them a bedtime snack.

Always take your camera with you, even to meals, you never know who will show up at dinner or what may happen one night towards the end of dinner. There are surprizes around every corner. Many times I have gone around the corner to bump into a character.

Take small bills for shopping on the islands. Many business dont have a lot of change.

If you plan on using a credit card on the trip be sure and call your credit card company before the cruise and tell them where your going. Other wise many times the charge wont go through until you make a lengthy phone call and answer a ton of secrurity questions. Its all due to tightened security and identity theft.
Plus be aware many shops will have a minimum purchse of $20 or more before they will accept a credit card.

The buffet on the Adult beach often will have either steaks or lobster tails besides the normal BBQ foods. You wont find steak or lobster tails at the family BBQ. It depends on what the ship has left over. So if your not eating with the kids or dont have kids you may want to check out the adult beach area for lunch. It doesnt have alot of seating so you may have to wait just a bit for a table.

Is that the phone they were waiting to release because of Steve Jobs' passing?

Yeah, the specs seem to hold up to it. Siri isn't the game changer everyone is saying it would be but it is nice. The real game changer for me is iCloud that allows my wife and I to sync our calendars together. That is the best part.

I have an iPad 1 and I upgraded it to iOS 5 on the 12th and it took several hours because Apple's servers were overloaded. Between it and OS X 10.7.2 it was crazy!

It is that phone, supposedly the event is in China now so we'll get the details on the 18th or 19th. Siri sounds like a great concept, hopefully it works as great as it sounds like it should. I'll probably watch the forums a little bit to see how the 4S does. My 14 year old is in desperate need of a phone, his screen is cracked and it doesn't make calls anymore (which isn't the worst thing as the majority of his communication is through Facebook and text). He's been eyeing up the 4S and saving his money so I told him let's ride it out another couple weeks and see what gets released, lots of great LTE phones coming out.

Good morning to everyone by the way! I see I'm the early riser today. I actually got to sleep in this morning, kids didn't get up until 7 (usually 5:30-6am early birds!).

Has anyone ever used Park n Cruise. Some of the reviews say that it faster than parking in the parking lots at the cruise terminal, and it is less than 1/2 the cost. $53 vs $120.00. Plus I hope it means I can avoid the traffic from the Airshow.:scared1:

Happy Saturday :yay::yay::yay:

Can anyone guess what we will be doing 3 weeks today :dance3::cheer2::dance3:

I had another tip that i thought about last night!

If your kids need a night light, but like me you need to sleep in the dark, buy glow in the dark sticks/necklaces. I picked some up for our last cruise, and every night the kids liked picking out a different colored "nightlight" I would hang it on the edge of their bunk beds or sit it on the desk, you could also put it in the bathroom. It was just enough light for them and not enough to other me!

Hope everyone has a great Saturday!

We always parked at the terminal for convenience.
I do know people who stayed at a hotel like the Radisson where you could leave your vehicle and take their shuttle to the port and they all liked it. Its only 5 minutes to the terminal from there.

Their only complaint was people always wanted to get on shuttles not at their assigned times because they wanted to get to the port quicker. But now that everyone has an assigned time to check in that should take care of everyone wanting to catch the earliest shuttles.

Morning all,

Claire, thats the first thing I thought of this morning was OH boy, 3 weeks from today I will be waking up at Disney World and preparing to catch the bus to the port!!!:woohoo:
That last night is so hard to sleep so we will probably stay out late so we can sleep better. Although I am always up by 6 a.m. everyday. Its just a habit after all the years of having to get up early.
