November 4th, 2007 Disney Wonder Roll Call

We'll be on the Nov. 4, 2007 cruise. This will be are first one. Not sure what to wear or expect. Any suggestions appreciated.

Hi Gourdi
Welcome aboard, glad you can join us.
This is our second cruise, so i'm by no means an expert. But what we found on our first Disney cruise with regard as to what to wear was that it was fairly casual. DH wore shorts and a nice, colored or logo T during the day and at supper he wore a collared button placket - golf type shirt and a pair of trousers or khaki's. I wore shorts and top during the day and slacks (not jeans, though they are "allowed") or a skirt and a nice top for supper. That is what we would normally wear when we go out to eat anyway.
As to what to expect? Expect to have a good time. Expect to be a little pampered. The staff will try to cater to whatever you need.
Do you have any children accompanying you? We are traveling "childless" our kids are 24 and 25, although they would love to be coming along with us, but not this time. I have read that the kids clubs are a wonderful diversion for the little ones.
Personally, we don't try to book every minute of the day with things to do. We just kind of "roll with it" and relax. But that's us. You can do as much or as little as you want. The food is good. Not the best I've ever had, but plentiful, tasty and a decent variety to choose from. Just remember they are feeding approximately 1200 people at a time spread over the 3 restaurants.
But they will do their best to accomodate your tastes and needs. It's great to have room service anytime you want. If you have kids they will love that part of it.
There are places to spend "adult only" time if you wish. The adult pool and hot tub area is just that. Kids under 18 are banned from this area. The bars are adult only after 9 pm so if you want to sit and have a drink or two or 3 in quiet you can.
I like children, but I like my time also. There are plenty of kids on the cruise, but I never felt overwhelmed by them. I enjoyed watching them interact with the characters and just having a good time, and reminescing about when my own were that age.

Anything else, just ask away.

Hello, Henlady

Thanks for the post. My family and I are so excited to go we are counting down the days. I am so glad I found this website. I have gotten some great ideas and suggestions on it.

One I am little unsure of is the passport stuff. I was told by Disney that we did not need a passport to go on the cruise if we were traveling before Jan 2008. A birth certificate with raised seal and a photo ID is enough. After Jan 2008 it will be different. Do you know if that is correct. I just don't want any problems when I get there.

Looking forward to meeting up with you all on the cruise. My DH is 44 years old. (Celebrating B day on the ship, I am 43 years old and I have a DD who is 8 years old. She can't wait to go to the kids clubs and make new friends.

Hello, Kris

We are counting down the days to we sail. We can't wait to have lots of fun. Don't know what to expect.

Why did it take me so long to find you guys.....I kept missing the posts for Nov 4th cruise!

We are going on our first cruise on Nov 4th and are super excited. We have 2 connecting cat 10's on level 2.
Maybe someone that has been on the 4 day before can help me? I am booking my youngest into Flounders in the evenings for the show times so I can relax and watch. From what I've seen on the navigators there is no show the first night (Sunday). Is this right?

I forgot to add that my girls are 9 and 7.....my boys are 2 (will be 3 on the Saturday NOV10) and almost 1

Hello Hoogy.....glad you finally found us.

To answer your first night question, in the past the first night's entertainment is usually a comedy type act or a juggling act, or something like that. Not a Disney "Production" type show. Not sure what the first night's entertainment is at the current time, maybe someone else can help with that.

Welcome aboard.

Hi Hoogy,
My DH and I are bring our little girl with us, she's 3. We'll have to meet you all. This is our 3rd Disney Cruise beleive it or not. We actually live about 10 minutes from the port and try to get good deals all the time to get away!
You and your child will love Flounder's. They are awesome in there! We felt incredibly secure having our Daughter cared for there.
Have company here.....gotta go, will write more later.....

Hello, Hoogy
SO glad you found us. We are to excited for our cruise. This will be our first Disney Cruise. My daughter who is 8 years old. Almost 9 years old would love to meet your daughters and make friends during our vacation. She will be going to the kid's camp during the cruise when she wants, so mom and dad can have some relax time.

Hoopy when will you be coming in to Orlando and where are you from. We are arriving early on the 4th and live on Long Island, NY. We will be in a cat 6 Deck 7 cabin with a balony.

Hi Steph1963,
Just an FYI, when you board the ship there will be a table set up at one of the night clubs to make Palo reservations. I think they save alot of those reservations and don't completely book them all online. I'm sure you will be able to get another reservation if you try. The night before arrival is pretty tough because you have to have all your bags outside before 11:00pm, so you will have to do all that with a full belly and probably under the influence of some fine wine!
I also believe you will be able to get your Dolphin encounter once you get on the ship.
To everyone out there........this is my 4th Disney Cruise(yeah) and I want you all to make sure you don't miss the Golden Mickey's and the Last Night's Show! They are out of this world!!! Hercules is so-so if you ask me, that's why I booked my Palo reservation that night. I have only done 3 night cruises and this will be our first 4 night, so I beleive they have a comeidian/vantriliquist act the first night. I heard it's pretty good.
Iwould love to meet you all. We also have a room on Cat 6 with Balcony like Hoogy. A splurge this time for us and our 3 year old!
And for all you parents who are interested in having so spirits on board.....you can also bring your own wine/champange and liquor on board in your carry on if you like. In the restrauants, they will charge you a $15.00 corking fee for wine. But, actually the wine prices aren't too too bad on board.
PS. once you get on board, cirle the Family Dance Party on your itinerary, it's really fun!!
We should shedule a time for all of us to hook up and meet once on board!!!

Steph,
We are on level 2 with two connecting 10 cabins. I'm hoping my daughters will enjoy the clubs too. We are in Ontario, Canada but flying out of Detroit (way cheaper). We will fly down on the Saturday before (3rd)
The nine year old is in grade 4 (other one is in grade 2).

Thanks for all of the information DRC712.
I made my reservation for Palo on Wednesday night at 7:30 pm. I know about the suitcase being ready by 11:00 pm. I will have to do a little of it before dinner and after.

As for the Dolphin encounter. I was able to make one reservation online and I would love to get one more for my daughter to go. She really wants to do this. I would had to disappoint her. I was told to hold on to the reservation until the end and keep checking the website for more reservation. My Dh doesn't really care if he goes or not. He can just observe it if he wants.

Good to know about the liquior. Might bring a bottle with me to have with juice. Not a big wine drinker. Should I bring water bottles with me or can we get those on the ship for no charge.

We are also on Deck 7 Cat 6 with a balcony. Our room # is 7104.

Would love to get together with everyone and hang out.

We just can't wait for this trip. It should be alot fo fun.

Steph

My daughter is in 3 grade so she is in between both your daughters. They should get along great. They say the clubs are awesome and she can't wait to do them all.

51 days to go. YEh

My DD is 8 and a 3rd grader too! THis is going to be fun for her.

At what time is everyone arriving at the port?

I decided I would start planning our DIS Meet for this cruise. Want to see if maybe it can be done prior to boarding. :goodvibes
