November 3, 2012 - Election Escape Eastern!!

Hi there! Well I was able to book our on-board fun and reservations today, (we missed our official day on the 21st b/c we were traveling!) but I just wanted you all to know that there are lots of free spaces that I could see for pretty much everything! YAY! So if you are booking next week, you should be lucky, too! :goodvibes

Can't believe that November is just a few months away! Hard to think about summer ending, but I'm ready for a little Fantasy!!!

I joined Disboards for this thread. This is our first cruise. Cant't wait. It will be me, my husband and 2 kids (daughter 10 and son 13). Love reading all of the information everyone is sharing.

Glad everything worked out for ya! We got what we wanted too and I noticed that there were lots of brunch choices remaining too...that may have something to do with them cutting out the afternoon tea for more brunch options, thought I was planning on giving tea a try this time around. OH WELL!!! ;)

I'm ready to gooooooooo!

Hi Neighbor :)

Thank you to everyone for all of the friendly welcomes!

I was so excited that we've reached Gold for this cruise, so I signed in to see what activities I was going book, and I signed out with nothing :sad2:.

We're not booking Remy or Palo this cruise. We want to be with our family each night at dinner because it's our son's first cruise. When we went to St. Thomas on a previous cruise, we had such a fun day with a local tour guide named "Sharky", that we're going to book him again. After the tour we'll have him drop us at Magans Bay for a couple of hours. And at San Juan, we're going to tour Old San Juan on our own, then take a taxi to Isla Verde. So it looks as though I'll only end up booking some well needed spa treatments.

I did get an early check in time, so that's nice :thumbsup2

Can anyone tell me what the reception on board for Gold members (so funny, reminds me of Austin Powers) will be like?

My DH and I are torn on Palo and Remy (we may not even get reservations since we still can't book anything). We decided to have dinner be family time too. I'm sure the kids will be off doing their own thing most of the day. My DH and I will need to figure out what to do.

Any recommendations for first timers? I've already read such great tips on this board, but I love hearing new ideas.

It's usually held in the big club on the first sea day afternoon, and there are some light munchies set out, the Captain comes and talks, I've been on ones that have a ice breaker game...try to meet as many people as possible kind of thing by finding people who meet a certain criteria. that's sort of fun to do, You don't miss much if you don't go, but it's nice.

By all means take the ship tour the first day! It's great and you really get your bearings much quicker.

If your kids will be busy elsewhere, the adult pool is a nice place to relax. There are all kinds of activities around the ship...your Navigator will be your best friend! I take ours each night (the Navigator for the next day is placed on your bed the night before by your stateroom host) and a highlighter and highlight those things we are interesed in. Blue for Sulley, pink for me, green for both.

Last I looked there were still quite a few openings for Palo's and Remy's, so don't give up hope. AND...even if you don't get Palo's or Remy's on your booking date, go to the onboard sign up area and see if they have anything and if not, get on the waiting list. I have had EXCELLENT luck with the waiting list! Even for brunch!!!

Last but not least...Enjoy yourself....you can't do everything, just like you can't do everything at WDW....good reason to sail again!!! :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,

Figured I'd do a quick introduction. I booked this cruise in June and it will be my 3rd Disney Cruise. Last Nov was my first DCL on the Dream. I'm going on the Magic next month to Canada...and then this one. I'm very excited about this trip b/c it seems like 7 days is the perfect amount of time for R&R.

On this trip is myself, my 7 DS, my parents and family friend. Again I can't wait!!!

The adults chat will be Saturday Night from 8:30 PM until ? Eastern Time.

Hope you can join us!

The kids chat scheduled for this evening has been postponed due to low participation, and unexpected scheduling conflicts for the two adult monitors.
