November 3, 2012 - Election Escape Eastern!!

Looking for some suggestions... I'd like to go snorkeling with my kids 8 & 10 for their first time while in St. Thomas, while getting some beach time...I'm noticing there are several snorkeling options... Any suggestions?...thanks

If you want to snorkel with sea turtles, choose any that go to Buck island (shipwreck cove or turtle cove). I am booked on one and have heard Buck island is the best for St. Thomas. I have done St John trunk bay and it was nice as well.

I just got an email answer from Disney Cruise line direct.
It said:night 1347 casual,2 formal,5 Pirate night,6 semi formal.
So it really looks like it´s after San Juan.I managed to rescedule my Palo to day 5 and keep my fingers crossed that the info is correct.
But with Disney you never know.I guess we have to wait untill boarding that we will know for sure.
I will go to Palo after eating lunch and have them check my reservation,it has the right date but also says it´s a sea day and day 6,with DisneyIT nothing suprises me anymore.:confused3
Take care
Conny

They would not be able to shoot off fireworks after San Juan. The boat will be going fast toward Castaway Cay, and they have to almost stop to shoot the fireworks. It will definitely after St Thomas as the distance to San Juan is short and they can go real slow.

He is also the 28th :) My son & I have already had our birthdays for this year and I didn't even think about it when I listed our ages - just gave everyone's current age. He enjoyed laughing at me! (However, I have never actually forgotten his birthday and he did forget mine once - but only once! :rotfl2:)

The both of you are exactly 3 days older than me.

Thanks for the info about pirate night.I think i go ahaed and trust you guys more than the email from DCL.So I´m going to try and change my Palo date again and keep my fingers crossed.

I booked the Pirates League makeover in BBB for DD for Pirate Night. It is booked for St. Thomas day, they only offer it for pirate night so that has to be it.

I´m so happy, third attempt and now we have Palo for ST.Thomas night at 8.
The only thing that worries me a bit is ,on the confirmation is the right day but als day 5 San Juan.I guess we will head to palo on the first day to confirm it(better be safe than sorry).DisneyIT-always a suprise:confused3:cool1:

I have a question--we have dinner for Palo booked, but if a brunch opens up on the ship, can we switch the ressie to brunch w/out a charge?

We were camping this past weekend and while I had coverage on the Ipad, it kept shutting the site down while I was trying to book Palo Brunch. By the time I was back in civilization and had phone service again, I tried to go back to book the Palo Brunch and it was completely sold out. I booked dinner for Day 6, but would really rather have brunch. :(

I was able to book the Pirate's League for DD, but the times were either 2:15 or earlier or 7:45 or later. I took the 7:45 and figure we'll skip the main dining room that night (we have 2nd seating). It's better than 2:15 and risk missing it b/c we are off the ship in St. Thomas.

I was also able to book the 2 spa services (facial for me, massage for DH), but I wasn't too worried about those. And was still able to get the 11:00-11:30 boarding time. We didn't book any excursions, so no issues there.

Yes, you can switch without a problem... book the one first before you cancel the other. You can actually have both a dinner and a brunch one does not preclude the other. Keep checking as we get closer...there is sometimes openings jsut before 45 days out as that is the last time to cancel the cruise without penalty. Sometimes people wait until the very last minute to cancel. I've always had good luck getting on the waiting list for brunch once we get on the ship and usually end up getting a brunch. This is the first time I actually got it booked on my booking day! Good luck

Palo Brunch is showing available now for Day 3 if you wanted that day.

Has anyone gone out on their own on St. Thomas? Any recommendations?

We did St. Thomas on our own. Right at the port there were several independant tour guides. We chose a guy named Sharky, and was so happy that we did. He was so much fun. He took us on a tour around the island in an open air bus. We were able to see some popular places and some out of the way spots that were not so touristy. Great photo ops. We saw many more things than the DCL excursion offered. He also took us to a really nice beach where we stayed for about 2 hours, and then he picked us up and took us back to the ship. When you get off the ship, there's not too much to do there. Just a few shops, and most of them are jewelry shops. So I would suggest you take some kind of a tour, or transportation to a beach. The cost for our aprox 5 hour tour was around $25 each. This trip, we are going to hopefully find him again, and do another tour, and then have him take us to Magans beach for a couple of hours. If we don't find him, we'll just use some other local tour guide. Hope this helps.

I live in Ohio, but about 40 min from Pittsburgh. Tastefully Jen on here is from Pittsburgh suburb. We both cruised on the Dream in April 2011. Actually our kids spent much of the last two days together at the South Hills Mall at the Apple Store Camp. :thumbsup2

Question: in St. Thomas, they are a different time zone... so when the excursion says 815.. is that St. Thomas time or Eastern Time??

Local, St Thomas time.

so is that an hour earlier than eastern??? that actually makes me feel better for our excursion is 815am, but our "minds" will think it is 915am. We will have a little more time for breakfast. At least in my crazy mind, lol.

OK I am totally confused now.... if it is 815am st thomas time, that would make it 715 eastern time ??????

Sorry we won't joining you after all. Some family circumstance have come up & we had to move this cruise to a different one. Please take us off the FE list. Thanks. I wish you all a wonderful & safe trip.
