November 3, 2007 - Western on the Magic

Hi All!
I am trying to figure our excursions for Cozumel & Cayman. We are going to do Key West on our own & head to the Butterfly Conservatory.
What excursions does everyone plan on doing?
I know we would like to go to 7-mile beach in Cayman (the kids don't want to go & 7:45 am might be a little too early).
and in Cozumel we wanted to check out the ruins but not sure which ones & didn't want o be all day since the kids don't want to do this either.
I had even thought worse case if there are any good restaurants near where we get on at both places, we could just go have lunch.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

We were going to do the Pirate Museum in Key West, but now my DS9 says he would rather do the Butterfly Conservatory. The DCL butterfly excursion is sold out. We were thinking of doing this on our own, but were wondering about how easy it is to get there. We were thinking of maybe taking a taxi?

On Cozumel, you could do the Chakannaab Eco-Park. It's a short drive down the road south of San Miquel. It's a very nice way to spend the day. They have faux-ruins and a beach area. Snorkeling is okay, but I heard it's not amazing, but it might be fun just to see a few things. I heard there's a little area where the little kids can swim, very shallow. It has food stands, lockers, etc. I think we might do this. It's a cheap cab ride and cabs are plentiful to and from downtown San Miquel.

Grand Cayman has a lot of nice beaches pretty close by and are very accessible by cab ride. Also, Georgetown (it is G-town right?) has a lot of great shops and I think a small museum or two. It's a good way to kill a few hours.

Michboro, you can buy tickets for the trolley on line at keywest.com. That will take you to the Butterfly Museum and then you can just hop back on for the trip back to the ship. Should be relatively easy.

We did 7-mile beach on our own 2 years ago. Just get a cab at the pier, very short ride, really nice beach. Cozumel and Cayman both have lots of places for lunch all real close to the pier.

Or can you buy them when you get there? Just in case the weather is not good, I really hate to blow $50 buying them ahead of time.:confused3

Well, this weekend we finished our door signs!!:cool1: One less thing we have to worry about! Now I need to go into the attic and bring down the suitcases and also get to Home Depot for my green mickey heads.:thumbsup2

Hey, that's a good point! You can buy them once you hit the port. No problem although they are a pinch cheaper on line! I would recommend the Trolley vs. the Train. The trolley lets you get on and off while from what I've read (could be wrong) the train is a one time tour around the island.

DD got her docs today!!! :cool1: Granted, she lives right next door to the Mouse House, so that probably helps. 1,000 miles away, I won't see mine 'til the end of the week probably...

I want docs. When can I have docs? I got a letter from the TA today saying my docs wouldn't be sent until 7-10 days before we cruise. I want my docs now. If somebody else has docs then I want my docs. WAAAAAAAA!

(Okay, that little tantrum is over. Back to our regularly scheduled thread.)

Can't wait to get my docs! Jersey Crew: post as soon as you get them, I am in Central Jersey, this way I can get even more excited, the anticipation before the trip is always the best!!
Have a good one!!

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE NEW JOB!! :dance3:

That's a load off eh?

We do have a lot to celebrate on this cruise don't we? New jobs, future new babies!

Our TA told us that we would receive our docs 7 - 10 days prior to cruising!

Can't wait to have them in my hands!!!!:cool1:

wow what a board! this is gonna be an amazing cruise with all we have to celebrate! brithdays, new jobs, new babys, anniversarys....sooo much goin on!

So with all of this going on we will have to make sure we all find each other to celebrate. Maybe we can come up with a certain color ribbon to pin on ourselves & totes or come up with a DISBOARDS kind of theme. We all have to find each other somehow.
Wonder if we can call DCL to see if we can get a DIS Boards meet in a place they aren't using.
They might go for that. Maybe they will put it in the navigator so even the readers that don't post can show up, too? Like Dis board meeting? If I get a big response than I will call.

I know in the past they have had DIS meets in the Promenade Lounge. It's more of a secluded area than up on one of the main decks. I went to Home Depot the other day and got lime green (the color theme of the DIS) mickey heads from the paint dept. and are going to use them as name tags. We will also be wearing bright lime green Disney t-shirts on boarding day. I had also mentioned in a previous post about everybody coming to the DIS meet bring a little Disney token or gift and we could do a grab bag type of game, bring a gift take a gift. What do you think???

Sung to Hannah Montana's I Gotta Work It (or Bone Dance, depending on which you prefer...)

I'm doin' the DOC DANCE, I gotta look at 'em, again and again 'til it all sinks in...
