November 26, 2005/ 7 day Eastern Magic

Wow! halestrm, that was really helpful! What a great resource. Do you do voiceovers?

grlzmom - not sure what style bathing suit or your price range, but I find landsend dot com has a great selection. Try the overstock store. When I taught water aerobics, I would purchase suits from the for $20 in the winter. I went through suits like crazy in that nasty chlorine water. LL Bean online may also have some great suits. I purchased two from them at the end of the season for only $30 (yes, even dh was suprised at my thriftiness . . . LOL).

Glad to see the board is heating up!

For most of us, today is 1 month till we leave for Orlando!!!

HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY

I am really looking forward to the cruise now.
We woke up to a winterstorm warning today and the kids are being dismissed early. Very heavy, very wet snow, accumulating quickly. Boy, its too early for this, even in the mountains.

I need to find a bathing suit, as mine are all raggy and in need of retirement. Any suggestions on where to order one on line?

What part of PA are you from? We live just east of Pittsburgh, in a town called Plum Borough. We had snow this morning, but the ground was too warm for it to lay. You're right though... It is WAY too early for Snow.

I had the same problem as you with swimwear. By the time I figured out that I needed a new suit, the swimwear was gone and replaced by coats. (BTW, it was the end of Aug. - I can't figure out way the stores sell cloths 2-3 months before you need them) Anyhow, try Nordstrom.com, I have always had good luck with them. Since we often travel to Disney in November, I have run into this problem many times before.

One more suite number change. I will be in Suite 8030.

It was so weird, I was sitting here at my desk and decided to call DCL just for the heck of it. I laughing asked if the Walter Disney suite was available and the gals said YES!!!!!!

I immediately called my agent and said BOOK IT

I am keeping it a secret from my family. I was going to surprise with the Cat 3 upgrade, wait until they walk into a Cat 1!

I wish I could explain how ... I can't even think of a word to describe it.

Wow! Congrats, halestrm! What a cool suprise for your family! Hey maybe we should have the party at your place . . .LOL.

Enjoy!

I posted a reply on the other thread that you started.

However, CONGRATULATIONS!!! :Pinkbounc :cool1: :Pinkbounc
Maybe we should change the meet to their room. jk.

Hello everyone! I started a new rollcall post on Cruise Critic (the site my husband and I usually post roll calls on) but had no replies and I could not believe that no one on the CruiseCritic site is going on the same cruise as my husband and I. So, I searched the entire web and found this rollcall thread.
I am so happy to have found this page. This is the 6th cruise for my husband and I (3rd on Disney) and we have used the rollcall for the past 2 cruises (this is the 3rd). Not only do we get to share our excitement with others, we have met some great people, many we still keep in contact with and are considered friends.
Anyway, I need to keep this fairly short. I have 2 items I would like to discuss with the group:
1) My husband and I live minutes from Port Canaveral. We know the area like the back of our hands. If anyone has any questions about the area (where to stay, eat, shop, etc.), please ask.
2) I haven't had time to read all 33 pages of this thread, so I am not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but because we have met so many wonderful people from the last rollcalls, I suggest we meet onboard the first day and introduce ourselves. I can try to arrange a small meeting room on the ship. Usually, the ship provides cookies, coffee, and other items for the group. If you don’t want to meet in a room, we can meet somewhere else. You’ll be surprised how many times we will see each other around the ship.
Let me know about the room and if you need any Port Canaveral information.
By the way, one of the nights is Pirates night! Bring some Pirate gear! My husband and I are renting cool costumes.

Does anyone know if I can book a Buck Island snorkeling tour in St. Thomas on my own? (I know this is a different island than the Buck Island sanctuary near St. Croix.) We are going on the Disney Magic in November and will be in St. Thomas on November 30. Disney has dropped the Buck Island Sail and Snorkel excursion which is supposedly a really nice snorkeling tour for a max of 6 people. They have replaced it with the Buck Island Catamaran Sail and Snorkel. I really don't want to go with 40 other people, and I don't care about the party boat atmosphere, just want to snorkel.

Any info you can pass along would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
LisaRae :earsgirl:

Hi Lisarae - Welcome to the DIS Boards :wave2: :disrocks:. I have a question for you. We're staying at the Radisson at the port the night before the cruise and we're looking for a place that has miniature golf. I found one called Traxx Jungle (or something like that). Do you know this place and is it close to port? Are there others you would recommend? Our kids love mini golf so we're trying to find something fun to do on Friday night. Thanks for your help!

Sorry I can't help with your snorkel question. We booked the Doubloon Snorkel because it sounded like somehting our kids would like. Also, one of these pages (post 358 I think) has a list of everyone going, kids ages, excursions, etc. Hope that helps!

Hi Boo MC,
Port Canaveral (or specifically Cape Canaveral where the Radisson is located) has 2 miniature golf courses. 1 is the Trax Jungle Village. It is located within 1 block of the Radisson. It has miniature golf, go-cart tracks, a batting cage, video games, and other fun stuff. The other is several blocks from the Radisson, called Funtasia. It only has miniature golf and a handful of video games.
I personally believe Funtasia is cleaner and more challenging, but has less to offer.
Neither of these are top notch places, but your kids will probably like them.
There are always discounts for Funtasia floating around the Port area. If you are interested, I can round some up and maybe a restaurant coupon or two. Let me know.

Lisarae, welcome to our cruise meet. If you check my signature, it has a link to the roll call. It is at the bottom of my signature. A brief synopsis - We are planning on meeting at the Goofy Pool at 3:00 on Saturday. In order to tell who is part of the cruise meet, we ar going to wear Flourescent Green Mickey Swatches from Home Depot(Available in the paint section). We are also going to trade 5 magnets that tell something about your hometown/state.

If you provide me with your room number and dining time, I will update the list with that. I am going to add you to the list now.

Lisarae,
Welcome to our group! Can't wait to meet everyone.

halestrm--
WOW! Congratulations on booking the Walt Disney Suite. That would be amazing! I have no idea how you keep that a secret for the next month.

If I remember correctly, on one of the repo cruises the DIS group toured all of the different room categories within the group. I suggest we start with a Category 1 and work our way down! LOL Enjoy!

I know, the secret part is killing me, and it hasn't even been 24 hours. I still cannot believe it is real.

I'd offer a tour to everyone, but I am afraid I am only leaving the tub long enough to eat room service.

halestrm, I'm so impressed you are going to keep this amazing information a secret. You go girl!

Thanks for the great idea! I was sharing what you did and what TIMON did (she upgraded at the port). DH wants to give it a try at the port. We're in a Cat 9, but would suffer through having a veranda . . .LOL. Can't hurt to ask. TIMON says she spent 1/4 of what it would cost to upgrade otherwise. (by the way, TIMON and her dh are on the MAGIC as we speak).

Have a super day!

Theresa 8-)

P.S. 30 days . . whoopppeeee!

I have LOVED reading Timon's threads! Talk about a major source of excitement since our cruise is so close!
Thanks so much everyone for all those sickness preventions and remedies. I am going to be sure and print them off so I can have them close by and accessible at all times. It is nice to know that you all are thinking about it and trying to prevent it too...I would hate for all this planning and excitement to be denied going!!

Halestrm, congrats again on the upgrade! It would be nice to get a peek of it too! It will probably be the closest thing some of us will ever come to seeing it! LOL :teeth: I am really excited for you!

Lisarae, welcome! I am really excited to meet everyone too...some of us have been corresponding for over a year, and it will be so fun to put names with faces! :goodvibes

First, halestrm, let me also say congratulations. You have been truly blessed. I hope that your family will appreciate all of your efforts. I won't ask to see it in person, but please update all of us with pictures after the fact.

We are planning to drive down from Tennessee, but I can't decide where to stay. Has anyone ever stayed in St. Augustine? There is this World of Golf thing. My DH would like to stay there and play some golf before hand. We were wondering what will be open for Thanksgiving while we were on the road. We have never traveled during Thanksgiving. We are making it an adventure. lisarae, maybe you have some advice in this area.

I also have a question about weather. Last year we went on the Disney cruise for Christmas and it was cold in every port. We could not get in the pool and wore heavy jackets the entire time except for Castaway Cay. The people in the Bahamas had on fur coats. Eventhough we were told that it was very unusual and we had a bad cold front to come through, I am concerned about it this time around. Has anyone cruised this late in the year before? What has been your experience? I am hoping that we just experienced a bizzare weather phenomenon. I pray that this time will be sunny and warm. :sunny:

Well that is all for now. Everyone be safe and have a blessed and wonderful day.

EDDJMOM-

Two years ago, I cruised from 12/13 to 12/20. The weather was wonderful. St. Maarten and St. Thomas were in the mid-80's, CC was cooler at 75 with 15 mph winds and when we returned to Florida is was a cold morning at 40. But we are from the NE, so at Christmas time 40 degrees is a heat wave.

Eddjmom

Do you remember meeting Kara and Eric on your 10-day Christmas cruise last year? They were "almost" on this cruise too and are very close friends of ours.

Lisa

Does anyone know about the rails on the ship how high they are? I know this sounds crazy but I have been having bad dreams about my dk's falling off the boat. and I think I have made my dh a little concerened becouse he had one of our oldest ds falling off the boat. I know it's disney and they are suppose to make everything perfect for families but this whole thing of us having a balcany really scares me with the dks? So if anyone has seen them and knows that there is no way my dks :confused3 could fall off looking at the water please let me know :confused3 :confused3 :confused3 :confused3
