November 25th, 2016 - Black Friday on the Wonder

That's probably what we will do in Key West as it's the easiest. As to the thread being quiet, I still check everyday in the hopes that the participation picks up. I haven't been on a thread this inactive before. Even the PC cruise thread for next year is more active than this. Kind of sad that that thread has only been going a month and already has more comments than this cruise:(
Your packing list isn't as bad as I already have all my FE's labeled, packed and ready to go:laughing:

I check daily as well! I haven't been on such an inactive thread as well...hmm, how can we ramp up this thread and get folks excited about the cruise?! Being that our cruise is after Thanksgiving, I believe it'll be a holiday themed cruise---with the gingerbread house and christmas tree on display...

Yeah, I love the smell of the house! I need to figure out that photo bucket thing so I can post the pics from the last 2 holiday cruises. As to getting folks excited:confused3 I guess people are just not that excited to go on a cruise. Thankfully I have the other thread to keep me going cause this one is down to just you and I:hug: and needs to be more:grouphug: Oh well, I am here any time you want to post:thumbsup2

We've done one other holiday cruise. If I recall correctly, the only thing I didn't care for was all of the Christmas music instead of disney tunes... Call me sentimental, but I love my disney tunes on the cruise. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Christmas music, but perhaps they could do some of both on the holiday cruises. We didn't pay much attention to the other holiday cruise offerings before, as we didn't have kids, but now that we have a tiny human, I guess we'll be standing in line for characters and doing the other holiday events...

Just make sure one of the 1st things you do when you get onboard is get tickets for the character breakfast. Last year it was Disney Jr characters like Sophia, Jake and Doc Mcstuffins. Oddly enough I don't remember them doing a lot of holiday music last year. That may be because we were the first holiday sailing and they were putting up the tree and decorations when we boarded. The only thing I missed out on was building a gingerbread house, which I thought should have been a ship instead.

In regards to the character breakfast, do they no longer do it for each dining rotation on at sea mornings?

On another note..just bought our airfare. Getting in around 11:30am thanksgiving morning and leaving late (8:00pm) on the 2nd. Courtesy of SW

It should say in the Navigator we get at check in, but last year we had to go get tickets for the breakfast and 2 other things I don't remember as we didn't do them. They may offer it for early and late rotation, ours was at 8ish if I remember right.
I bought my air yesterday as I was waiting for SW fares also. Unfortunately they were insane so I went with United like usual and I am flying in Wednesday since it was only $20 more than flying on Thanksgiving. I didn't want to take the chance of bad weather and crazy busy on Thursday. We are staying in Houston and driving down on Friday morning and just parking at the port since we can't be there until 10:30 or so anyway.

They were all about the same price for us, plus free bags on SW and that's nice when lugging a car seat around. I'll keep an eye on the navigator for activities that need special sign ups. We plan on getting to port as early as possible (10:30-11ish).

Hi ! Bruce and I (Gina) just booked this cruise. We're from Houston, so we love cruising out of Galveston !
We are platinum and DVC folks. Usually we have several Grandchildren with us, but this time it'll be just us.
I'm crafty so I love to do the FE. Is there one started ? Let me know how to sign up if there's still room.
Last year on our Christmas cruise we did an ornament exchange and a Christmas cookie receipe exchange.
Anyone interested in either ?
Looking forward to meeting everyone !
Gina

:welcome: @hamm1207 and I were just saying how quiet this thread is and now we have a new member. I am doing the FE and somewhere on the last page or so is my "rules", which is essentially we are keeping most info private. We are doing groups of 10 rooms and right now group 2 is at two rooms-you will make 3 if you join. All I need is a pm from you with a room # and an email to send the list to. Optional info is any allergies and favorite characters. The only thing going on here is the FE so if you would like to start any other exchange, feel free. I think there is an ornament exchange on a banned site if you are interested.

Wahoo!! Welcome to the cruise! I'd be interested in an ornament exchange and christmas cookie recipe exchange. Those sound fun!

I learned someone else started an ornament exchange on the unmentionable site. But I'll start the
Christmas Cookie Receipe Exchange
PM your cabin # and email.
20 cabin limit
Pass out your favorite Christmas cookie or other baked goods to each cabin
Very easy !! Yummy !!

So the recipe exchange is like the FE in that you deliver the recipe to each room? I am guessing people don't need an extender as you could just deliver it like mail as DCL does, right? Just want to make sure for any interested parties that aren't joining in the FE that they could still participate in the recipe exchange. Not that there seems to be anybody but the 3 of us now posting here:thumbsup2 Well, I will still check everyday if anybody wants to chat.

Yes, just like the FE. But easier, and no you don't need a fish extender. Maybe you could let the people on the other site about it.

Group 2 is now:
Tzbwilsonfam - DH, DW, MIL, DS 2.5
hamm1207/N365PA - DW, DH, DD 1

scrapycruiser - DW, DH

For anyone interested in joining the FE, please contact me. For joining the recipe exchange, please contact @scrapycruiser.

No new info - I am just moving/updating it for a new page for the newcomers who don't feel like reading the whole thread.
Hopefully, all the info to follow will help answer some questions and not scare anyone away:scared1: from joining the DISboards only FE group.

For those that are interested in joining the FE, here are my rules and guidelines. The last group will be closed one month before the cruise and I will then start a latecomer’s group or a pixie dust group. Each group will stop at max of 10 cabins. If someone drops before the cruise, I will not replace them in a group(unless the group agrees). If the group had hit 10, it will stay closed.

Real names are not required – it is DW(Darling Wife), DH(Darling Husband), DD(Darling Daughter) and DS(Darling Son). For anyone who wants to make personalized gifts, let me know and I will see what I can do about getting real names.

Info required to join the FE is room #, who is in the room, ages of any kids and an email to send the final list to. Optional info is any allergies and favorite characters. The only person that will have your email is me and I will delete it from my contacts once we are back from the cruise. I will not share your email address unless you request it. I will send an email to all participants in each group as it closes. I will put directions in the email, but please look at the FE info and make sure it is correct. I will have everyone email me back to assure me they have received their email and everything is correct. After that, the only email you will get from me is if there are any changes in your FE group.

There is no spending limit(spend what you are comfortable with). Gifts can be per person or per cabin, your choice. There is no set day to deliver, just have everything delivered before Thursday(Dec. 1st) night. Please make sure to hang your extender as soon as possible for those who want to deliver early(or daily - it does happen). If there is no extender, please do not leave anything as the participants may have changed rooms.

I will let everyone know of any room changes up to 48 hrs. before the cruise, then I will be traveling to Texas and have limited access to the internet. After that you will either have to go door to door and drop off a note of any changes or I will have a whiteboard at my room to write any messages. Be aware that since I am not going to be in every FE group, most people will have no reason to check the board at my room. I will make sure everyone has my room # so they can check the whiteboard or call if they have any issues.

Closer to the cruise we can maybe plan an onboard meet up on day 1 for anyone interested. If anyone is interested in being in charge of starting groups for mixology classes, an ornament exchange(organized elsewhere), a postcard exchange, a recipe exchange(@scrapycruiser) etc… feel free as I am only doing the FE.

As always, I will try to check this thread daily so feel free to ask any questions.:thanks:

For Key West we've decided to do a trolley Hop on Hop off tour--that way we can hit most of the highlights and stay as long as we'd like. Man is this thread quiet or what... Is it sad that I already have a packing list started?
hi . we did the trolley last year, i loved it. was able to see so much, and have time to do shopping, eating, etc.

I agree, this thread is quite. I guess with summer coming up, not a lot of the passengers are thinking about the DC, it being in NOV.
I have a feeling once we get to the point when we can book excursions etc. this board will light up like a Christmas tree, epecially
with all the 1st time cruisers we have.
hahaha, haven't started packing yet, but have started on FE gifts.

Group 2 is now back to:

hamm1207/N365PA - DW, DH, DD 1
