November 2017 room availability at moderates

Hi.

Does anyone know what's going on the 1st week in November? We maybe a bit late reserving the 2 rooms we need Nov 2-6, but were surprised at the lack of availability at Riverside at a decent price. All that is left are Royal rooms for over $300 with tax, and no availability at all at French Quarter, Coronado or Pop.

Also, we are novice AP holders and don't see any discounts yet for this time either, but am afraid if/when any AP discounts do come out, there won't be any rooms left anyway.

Our plan is to stay on-site 11/2-11/6, then go on a 4 night cruise 11/6-11/10, then return to an on-site hotel 11/10-11/12. Now we are not sure what to do for lodging.

Can you go ahead and book a room at a rate you're willing to pay and then when discounts hopefully come out,have the discount applied to your existing reservation? That way your room reservation is locked in. I did this for rooms for next May...hoping a better rate than the one I booked is available and can be applied.

Jersey Week. Wine & Dine Half Marathon weekend (November 2-5). Lots of renovation at CBR and CSR taking many rooms out of inventory.

Thanks. We knew about Jersey Week, but had no idea about the W&D Half Marathon.
Tonight we made some safety reservations at Art of Animation on the front end and Pop on the back end.
We still have our fingers crossed for something reasonable at the moderates that might open up.

Can you go ahead and book a room at a rate you're willing to pay and then when discounts hopefully come out,have the discount applied to your existing reservation? That way your room reservation is locked in. I did this for rooms for next May...hoping a better rate than the one I booked is available and can be applied.

The draw back to that is if enough rooms are booked ahead of time, the less likely that resort or room category will be part of the discount. It really is a catch 22.

There's also a fast pitch tournament at WWOS that books up a lot of the All Stars.
