November 2014 Car Rentals

Got on the rate reduction train as well. Mid-side 11/13 - 11/18 with AAA from 165 all in down to $119 all in. The base rate was $79 plus taxes. Lowest I have seen in a while. Excellent. Should have stated with Dollar

Any good Alamo codes yet for early November?? Usually the best rates are about a month before your trip--but it seems like some of you are getting good prices now.

Just booked with Costco, full size car from Budget!!!! November 8 to 16th at MCO. $149 for nine days! The cheapest I have seen it! I will keep checking to see if rates will go down more :thumbsup2

I haven't seen anything really good from Alamo yet. The lowest I was getting was with the Vroom Vroom code and free upgrade but even that is still placing quotes in $170. I am vacation planning OCD enough (got the spreadsheets to prove it!!!! :) ) that I check all the majors at least once a day to see who as the best. Hoping Alamo gets in the game discount wise so I can pick my own car but so far Thrifty has my ressie and for the price I can deal being assigned a car...unless it is a PT Cruiser which Hertz used to LOVE to give me when I traveled at my previous job.

What is the Vroom Vroom code? I remember that from a couple years back, and it was a good code then. I already have the free upgrade, and used an ID#7014926 to get my rate of $199 for 11 days in a mid-size. Typically I've paid around $160-$170 for the same--but I'm not exactly complaining about getting $199 this early.

It's ID# 299851 and it works similar to the KLM code that National had where it takes off a lot of the 'fees' from the quote. You can stack coupons with it as well.

Well, I just booked with Alamo using the vroom discount but I must admit I'm feeling very uneasy about using it. If I knew more about it maybe I wouldn't feel this way. I really feel that I'm taking advantage of something I'm not entitled to especially not knowing more about the code. I often tried the KLM code but usually ended up with something better. But at least KML actually flies into our airport. LOL
I will not be cancelling my Alamo reservation with Undercover Tourist at this point. The vroom discount came in at exactly $100 under UT.

Unfortunately I have to pick up at MCO and drop off at FLL so my rates are going to be pretty high. Right now I have a standard booked for $175 - pick up Nov 22 & drop off Nov 29. I am only seeing higher rates now so I think that may be as good as I am going to get...

Booked Alamo midsize through BJs using club discount with free upgrade for $112 for 11/14-11/18. Also an insider member.

Thanks, I used this code and a upgrade coupon code and got a Standard rental from 11/10 - 11/15 for $158. Not the best deal I've ever gotten but its the best I've been able to find recently. I'll keep checking their website to see if it gets lower. :magnify:

Try ... 76892 promo code at dollar ..well if you don't need to pick up at MCO and can get from DTD (if staying at WDW) then it would be about $165 all in.

From MCO it's more expensive. But I just did my change going from DTD to RSW 11/22-12/6 all in for $389 on a premium vehicle. Mind you from a size perspective a standard or full size might be better. We'll have to see.

I keep looking for Alamo to come in lower so that I can walk over to the Dolphin to pick it up rather than go to DTD and walk to Wyndam though. :coffee:

From what I have seen/read it is a 'you don't need a coupon' code from a site similar to carrentalsavers.com Having checked in through the kiosks and online with Alamo I have never had to present a coupon (even when I had them and my BJ's membership)

I just booked using that VROOM code. Pick up MCO and drop off Shades of Green. 6 day rental. $206.

I was flying into MCO because it was less points and MUCH less for the one way car rental from there. However, the first leg of our trip is to Marco Island. I see I can fly into TPA for decent points and now with this VROOM code I can actually get the rental car for the same $206 from TPA.

Anyone have experience with the Tampa airport and/or the Alamo car rental process there?

ETA: I was able to book Dollar right now with the code mentioned above (76892) for 11/24-30, pick up MCO and drop off Wyndham LBV for $164 for a premium! Dollar is OK right? But we are staying at GF so seems like the $42 to drop off right at Shades of Green would be worth it maybe. Would have to take a cab from Wyndham to GF.

Just used the vroom code at Tampa for 11/29 thru 12/6 (compact $175 inc taxes) and saved $75 over Dollar. Thanks to everyone on the DIS Boards.

TPA is easy -- smaller than MCO, car rentals a short walk across the street just like MCO. No shuttle required.

Also, good news -- the National KLM code is active again. Just booked two late Nov. reservations at MCO using it.

Saw the post about the KLM code being active again. Gave it a try but it came out higher than my UT reservation. So for right now I'll be keeping the mini van 10 day rental 11/12-11/22 with UT (Alamo) for $494 and Alamo vroom for $394. We always check in on line or at the kiosk so I'm assuming there won't be an issue.

The nice thing about using National is that you can usually find a minivan on the Emerald Aisle at the midsize rate. But if the Alamo minivan rate is cheaper than National midsize, then obviously that is a better deal.

Finally seeing rates drop as I am now sub $100 base ($144 all in) for MCO pick up for either a compact or standard car per week starting November 19th with Dollar.
