November 2013 Pin Code Watch

The group deal is off. Guess we'll just all keep on the lookout for any discounts coming later on.

airfare is too high for middle of Nov. Grrrrrrrrrrrr

I was able to get 4 round trip tickets with Southwest from Chicago in the middle of November for just under $1200. Not an awesome deal, but much better than the $1500-$1600 every other flight was charging.

It was running very high for me, because I had to book 10 tickets, and every decent rate was limited to just a couple. I finally gave in and booked at slightly under $300/ person and I am glad it did, because since then it has only gone up.

stinks- In ALL of our trips we have never paid more then $222 r/t per person.

Last year I literally checked airfare 5 times a day and it was pricing upwards of $400-500. One day it was just under $200 so I grabbed it!

Problem is I will only go with either free dining or a room discount so I can't book air until a WDW deal comes out as I might have to change dates around to get the deal.

ughhhh

I just looked at early November flights out of Midway and they are still higher than I have paid in the past (but not terrible). I probably won't pull the trigger until they get closer to $110-$115 each way. But I am extremely happy that they are still running the 7am flight out of Midway most days! :cool1: (That was big deal last November for us).

Our exact days are up in the air (no pun intended) but we are leaning towards 11/3 to 11/9. I don't think I want to be anywhere near WDW 11/9 or 11/10 with F&W, the marathon, Festival of the Masters, end of Jersey Week etc.

I'm glad that Southwest has its schedules out so that I can start stalking our dates. Bummed that the prices aren't low enough for us to book now, but they aren't terrible either so I am optimistic that we can save a little more. Looking for pay under $1000 for 4 round trip. I was able to book my parents today though for $400 round trip total. They are so lucky flying from a different region than I am.

How often do they change the rates? I was thinking when they first released them they would be lower than later on. Guess I don't travel enough to know any better.

Is anyone else waiting for Frontier Airlines to release their flights for later in November? I am so frustrated that their bookings stop mid-week and they have no schedule for when the rest of the month will be released for booking.

Frequently. I typically buy our November flights in July or August. I know for some airports, release date is the lowest, but that is seldom the case for Midway.

Honestly, I check daily. I've seen flights fluctuate up and down by $50 at times. Also, last year they offered a sale that went into early December (blocking out Thanksgiving) where flights were 40% off. No idea whether we'll get an amazing sale like that again, but I've learned to be careful about booking Southwest too early unless I see a really fantastic rate. Like my parents' flights were at great times and only $100 each way so there was no way that I wanted to wait. For my family though, they were at $156 and $177 each way so I am going to give it a little time and hope they fall closer to $125 each way.

We also stay on top of Orbitz, etc. because sometimes you'll find an amazing deal pop up briefly. The only issue is that now some airlines are charging you add-on fees when you book through a third party.

We are going to be looking for one way tickets for Friday before Thanksgiving...from Michigan. Kids and I are driving down early....dad wants to meet us by flying. Any hope of cheapee flights? Haven't bought tickets in SO long, usually cheaper to drive with family of 5.

Our RT is costing $384.80 about double what we usually pay, I did ok with our flight down that I bought last month when fares first opened up. I watched the return flight go from $249 to 280 and then dropped Saturday to $251 so Icaved this am and bought. I checked around noon to see if maybe it dropped more when I heard SW fares were released and it was back up to $280.

I never flew near a Holiday before but the Friday Thru the Tues before and after Veterns Day is crazy high.

Where are you flying from? If I would have seen $100 each way today for November I would have pounced on it! :rotfl: Mine were both $131.

uetzb, for example, I am paying $108 each way in June out of Midway (both flights are Wednesdays). DH is flying down very early on a Sunday, and I had to pay $131 for that one. For November, I am willing to wait it out a bit and see what the prices do :hourglass

JetBlue has some nice prices from NYC the week of Veteran's Day. We had wanted to go the week before and have the kids miss one less day of school, but there's a difference of $50 each way.

If you don't use it already, I'd highly recommend hipmunk.com. Some of the airlines may not be on it.

As for the actual codes - I think if there's free dining, we'll stay at POFQ. If not, POR.

Thanks for the info. Mine were $131 and $166. I'll chalk that up to my first time flying with Southwest. I am using that 7AM out of Midway on a Wednesday.

My parents live in New England. And, just because I'm obsessive, I checked their flights again today (even though they are purchased) and they were up $20 each way!

For DH, the kids, and I, we haven't purchased yet. Still looking at $156 and $177. I'm hoping we can get them for less because that is way more than I wanted to pay. We may end up flying down one carrier and back on another to get the best deal.

If your flights drop significantly in price, you can always exchange them for the lower fare and take a Southwest credit for the difference. Just don't jump in and make too many exchanges because you can only use 2 credits per transaction, so if you end up with too many credits, booking your next flights can get very complicated and frustrating.

I fly out of HPN rather than JFK which we did once for a lower fare and I was not worth the added Hassle, same with BDL. It seems HPN is usually a bit higher but we love the small airport.

Today was my 180-day mark. (We arrive Nov 4.) I am so pleased to have gotten all the resturants I wanted. I was so nervous since we usually go during a not-as-busy time of year. But it all worked out. I guess getting up at 5:40 this morning was worth it.
