NOVEMBER 2012 Trip Planners Part 2~yes there IS another!

That was my boat too. Free Dining for us, since we are a party of two who stay at either Moderate or Deluxe resorts, is not as good a savings as a 20-35% discount on the room rate

For us, a room discount is better, but if it's not offered, then the FD is the next best thing!! I will take either that I can get!!!!! I will try to call again this week and see if anything is attached to my account.

OK, I need an opinion about when to use my TS credits and when to pay OOP, to help maximize my savings. The following are my ADRs - notes in ()

Artist Point (2 credits per person)
Fulton's Crab House (2 credits per person)
Yak & Yeti (1 credit per person - Lunch)
Chef Mickey (1 credit per person -Breakfast Buffet)
Mama Melrose (1 credit per person -Fantasmic Package)
Le Celliar (1 credit per person - Lunch)
Crystal Palace (1 credit per person -Breakfast Buffet)

We will only have 6 credits per person this time around so I was wondering what should we do OOP and what should be on the plan

Normally the gut tells you to do the buffets OOP, but if the prices are accurate on DIS's current updates for them, the 2 buffets together for 2 people would be more costly than 2 people at say Artist Point or Fulton's, so why waste credits on those and instead use those 2 credits from either AP or Fulton's for both buffets. Right now my only sure OOP is Yak & Yeti since we know the food and pricing as we have eaten there before, and we can get out cheaper than say Chef Mickey's buffet.

I'm with you. To stay at WL with 2 sparse eaters it saves us a lot more to have a 30%+ room discount and pay for meals OOP. Used the free dining pin for now and made 5 ADRs this morning just in case, but hope to switch to room only. We may be in the minority, but there are some of our kind out there!

Everybody is obsessing (in a good way of course, lol) over free dining, but nobody seems to want % off room.

I looked on the historic list of when discounts are offered and it says not until August That is too far away!!

Sorry, just a gripe. It's so hard to plan ADR's when I don't know where I'm staying.

We're with you - room only discount is much better for us. I worked the numbers early on in my planning, and decided the free dining wasn't our best option. Along the away, I've made decisions that close us out of the free dining opportunity even more - we're changing resorts for a three-way split stay, we bought discount tickets from UT, etc. So there's no way we'll be grabbing a free-dining promotion! We'll be leaving that for someone else who needs it!

We might be, sort of, adding another day! It all depends on SW flight times when they are released on June 4. If our only option for getting there at a decent time is the usual 6am flight, we'll probably go the night before! I figure I won't get much of a discount with only one night, but I might try the Little Mermaid standard rooms at AoA just to see what it is like.

Glad to see that some pins are starting to show up!

Talked to my friends who will be traveling with us (3 groups) and they called this morning and got the FD, too. It is truly about the CM I think.
They talked for a good 45 minutes until the CM gave it to them. Now, between the five families we've saved around 4000 dollars on dining.

I said that I'd like to know more about the wording of the pin code about "a first look at free fall dining" (this was after i had priced out the whole trip without a discount). And the guy just said, Okay, I'll give you that." not sure if he misunderstood what I said and thought I said I had one.. but my friends did the same exact thing and got it too. Keep trying with different CM's. Some are there to make you happy!

Please add me to the November list. Our dates are Nov.25-30. We're also doing 1 and a half to 2 days at Universal. DH and DS13 are really looking forward to WWoHP. I'm trying to go by Easywdw suggestions, but having some trouble trying to squeeze everything in. Have to make ADRs Tues. UGGGGH! Been trying to get FD for the past two days with no luck. This is our first time in Nov., so I have a couple questions: Anybody know what time they turn on the Osbourne lights? Are the MVMCP fireworks much different than Wishes? Will the Parade Taping on Thurs. at MK really not make that much of a difference in crowds as Easywdw says? Thanks!

that looks super cute! i am making the kids travel bags and welcome baskets, as well as a couple of shirts/dresses, matching dresses for my DD's dolly, travel games ( it is a 20 hour drive ), welcome letter, penny tubes and the list goes on and on..

What exactly are you saying because I have called everyday and NOTHING!

I too have called every day and even twice on some days and still nothing.

I'm just hoping the GP promotion gets released soon but with slightly different dates. We are booked to check in on 11/2 and with the current pin dates we would have to check in 11/1 to get FD so that means either adding a day or moving the whole vacation by one day which messes up my ADR's. But adding one day would mean DS has to miss 2 school days rather than just 1.
