NOVEMBER 2012 Trip Planners Part 2~yes there IS another!

Just joining in now as I wasn't sure if the trip would happen in June or November. Got the free dining pin, so we are in for Nov 23-30. ADRs on Sunday, little nervous because on our last trip I had 6 months to plan park days and ADRs. I have 3 days.

I am considering MVMCP on the 25th. How crowded do you think that date will be if anyone has experience with it this time of year?
Also, is it reasonable to expect to swim a few days? We have never been this time of year so not sure what to expect.

I was also considering the CP, but not sure if my 4 year old would like it. Has anyone taken small kids to it before?

I am super excited about the trip and am excited to read through the thread to catch up!

Swimming is a very good possibility. We swam 4 days during that week last year.

CP can depend if your child is used to sitting through church, etc. Knowing she was in Disney made it a little long and restless for my DD6 one year and she is used to church. But at the same time it isn't an extra fee and no one would hold you down if you decided to leave. It is a beautiful program.

We are considering MVMCP Nov 27 since it is not a weekend.

I wasn't planning on the DDP either, wanting a room discount instead, but with the FD pin, would be crazy to pass it up in case nothing else comes up. So I have until Sunday to figure out more ADRs than I considered. Good luck (or as DD11 would say, "may the odds be ever in your favor")

So I decided to call & see if I had a pin attached to my name & I had 2 BUT they were for summer travel dates The lovely CM I spoke w/ knew excatly what I was calling for & said " Well that won't work will it, I bet you want the fall FD pin don't you " He told me 3 or 4 times to be sure I call again next week Fingers crossed I have some coming my way

Yes, been waiting months! Last time I called the booking window was pushed out till June 4th. Hoping it doesn't go past that. Prices have really dropped for my dates so trying to wait patiently...

I think it's a bit odd too. It's also confusing...

On the Disney Discount Codes and Rates Board (this board) there is a sticky (a thread permanently at the top) that explains about pins. You should read the first couple of pages. Basically it's a discount that is attached to your name so it is a discount that only a specific person can use. Recipients are normally notified by email or snail mail, but people call the Disney Reservation line just to check if they missed the notification Sometimes I do think that they will give you a pin just to make you stop calling

I have the same issue! So hopefully we can both call and get them next week! We are booked at Pop but I would love to switch to AoA. I fear if I do before a GP discount is released it will exclude AoA so I am holding out, for now.

I've kindof been a lurker on this page, and I apologize.

We are booked for Nov. 8-14th as of this moment. We didn't get that FD Pin email yesterday, but seriously considering sliding our dates back a day to Nov. 9-15th just in case.

Question for you pros... yesterday after I heard about the FD email rumors, I had my TA call and see if there was a PIN on my name. There wasn't. HOWEVER, question is this...there are 11 adults in my party. Although I'm the point of contact, the trip is all on my father's amex with his info. If I called today and there was a PIN attached to his info, could we still apply it to our ressie? How does all that work? Any experts out there??

Welcome! No need to apologize for lurking, but we're so glad you came out of the shadows. . I think if your dad would call, he could apply that to your ressie, esp. if the trip is on his CC.

I called and was lucky enough to get the FD pin! My husband has to travel down a day early to get it, but that is ok. I also got sucked in to upgrade to a moderate resort from a value since we would get the regular dining instead of quick serve. Yep they got me!

So any who, we are going from 11/16 - 11/24 and staying at the POR (DH is staying from 11/15) It is DH and I and my two boys 12 and 13.

So now here's a question for you...since we are travelling on separate days does that mean I can't use the Magical Express?

I hope y'all love POR as much as we do. I'd be leery of any of you using the Magical Express, since you're arriving separately and you're all supposed to check- in the same day for the DP/Free DP....

You can DO it! Just focus and do NOTHING else for the 3 days.

So I tried to get creative. I just called and spoke to a very friendly CM, told him today is my birthday (which is true) and he would totally make my day if he could let me know a FD code was attached to my account! He giggled, wished me a very Happy Birthday and told me no. Oh well it was worth a try!!

I hope you're having a very Happy Birthday and that your FD code/pin is just a little delayed.

Okay, I have a question.. I've already booked and paid the deposit for our trip in Nov/Dec. Does that mean we are locked in for the current ticket prices even if they DO go up?

Also, I'm obviously hoping to get the free dining.. does that mean that we have to give up our current reservations and start all over again with rebooking so as to include the FD? If so, I guess I then pay the currently offered rates for tickets.. which is fine, of course. I'm just wondering how all of that works????

Oh, and one more thing... if I've made some "hard to get" ARDs when the FD is offered, do I lose them and hope to get them again, or will they travel with me to the newly booked reservations that have the FD attached??

I agree with a PP. The fine print on the reservation says they CAN increase your amount owed when ticket prices go up, but I don't think they WILL unless you need to mess with your reservation, like cancel/rebook.

You will NOT need to give up your dining reservations. They'll just add Free Dining to your reservation.

You won't lose your "hard to get" ADRs either. You worked hard enough already for them, right?

I guess I will finally try to call to see if I have a pin. I guess it is worth a shot. But, which number do I call? I see vacation packages, room only, dining reservations ... I don't know which number to call.

Sounds like that was a serious hint for you!

I forgot who mentioned about it depending on the CM you get when you call, but I just wanted to give a fond mention of Antoine and Wilton who were the VERY nice and helpful CMs we got went calling for our ADRs and our FD pin. They were both just awesome!

Maybe hope isn't lost after all! Have you stayed at POR at that time before. Curious if they have Christmas decorations up yet...I've been to WDW probably 12 times, and never been inside a resort (except to go to Cape May), so I'm super excited!

I've only been the week after Thanksgiving, and we stayed at the POP. This will be our second trip.

I don't have any experience with ME, but I would assume it wouldn't make a difference. Just be sure to let them know.

As long as it's not a Friday (when all the locals go), it shouldn't be too bad.

As for swim days, you just never know. We went the week after Thanksgiving in 2010. The day we arrived it was very warm... sundresses and shorts weather. Five days later it was in the 30's and freezing. It's best to pack for all seasons (easier said than done if you are flying), and plan a few backup activities.

So I tried to get creative. That depends... do you have a room only reservation or a package? If you have a room only, they will have to cancel the reservation and make a new one. If you have a package booked, they can just make the adjustments and you won't lose any of your ADRs. I just made our changes yesterday and it didn't affect anything. Good luck!

WOW.... 2 pins in 2 days!!!! I am on just called Disney Reservations and received a FD pin. I have been trying this whole week and finally today they found a FD pin for our family. I really think its all about the CM you talk to. The one thismorning just seemed to be having a GREAT day and ENJOYING his job. For those of you searching for the illusive FD pin, be persistant in finding one and also let them know what you are looking for. Not just any ole pin the FD PIN!!! GOOD LUCK

I couldn't agree more. When I asked if I had a PIN, I was told no, but when I asked specifically for free dining, I was given a discount. The CM I spoke to was the nicest CM I've ever dealt with. Keep calling y'all!!!

Question...im booked for 11/25-12/1, if a public FD is offered with the dates corresponding to mistybroussard's pin does that mean I would get FD for 11/25-11/29 portion of our trip or would I need to match the exact dates (11/23-11/29 in her example)?

As long as the discount is offered on your check in date, you qualify.

Happy for all of you that are getting your FD! I'm really looking for an AP or room discount. I have a AAA discount for 15% but was hoping fto do a little better than that. We will only be at POR for 2 nights before moving to SSR. I am assuming there is a minimum number of nights required to qualify for FD?

I think it was either 3 or 4 nights.

Ok you guys....I just priced the same vacation we have currently booked at WL (standard room, 6 nights, plus dining) at AOA and it would save me over $1300 to switch to there. I could even add deluxe dining and still save almost $1000. I don't know what to do!! It's our first trip and I'm having serious anxiety about the cost but loved the new rooms and feel of WL, that being said, AOA standard rooms will be only 2 mos old when we go. What to do, what to do!

Have you thought about POR? We upgraded to the deluxe and according to my calculations, POR was only going to cost $200 more for our family of 4. This mainly due to the cost difference in upgrading from a quick service plan to a deluxe and from a regular plan to a deluxe. I think the rooms have been refurbed too. Not to mention the queen beds, free wifi and fridge. I really want to stay at AoA, but I'll wait. I think it would be neat to stay at a brand new resort, but I think it's going to be very crowded... and I don't like crowded.

I booked my November trip (Nov 24-Dec 2) on Monday, and called Disney this evening to see if there were any PINs attached to my name. A very nice CM searched for me and found one that took a little money off my balance. After getting off the phone, I did a little math and figured out that the PIN saved me 17%! Not bad... at least its something. I'm crossing my fingers for free dining though!

Yes, you should call back. We have been through 3 different pins already, 2 within the last 2 days.
