November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Good Morning Everyone!!!

pixiedust: Hope you make out ok!:goodvibes By the way, did you decide which embroidery machine??

We made it out okay! I ended up with the Innovis 4500D. I need to play with it some more. There is always a bit of space between the design and the outline.:worship:

Hello everyone,

Back from the beach and we had a very nice time. Got a Disney fix at the Disney store. Bought DD3 a Cindy dress and shoes for Crt. She loves her shoes. She wanted to try on all the princess shoes :rotfl2:. My other DD got a bathing suit for the trip. She is getting the Merida dress for her birthday and thats what she'll wear to the castle. I'm going to go back and read and try to catch up. Have a great day!

C'mon DxDP'ers!!! None of us are coming back 50 pounds heavier, all the energy we expend will cancel out all of the caloric intake automatically! :lmao:

I think with all the walking I actually came back in better shape. :rotfl:

Okay. I debated about whether to share this with you all since this is a happy thread, but I really need to. My Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's yesterday. It doesn't come as a huge shock of course. There have been signs. But to have it actually confirmed was a bit more emotional for me than I had expected. I moved recently to be closer to my parents, so I will be quite involved with everything. I have one sister who lives in Texas, but that's a good thing. Anyway, I just needed to tell someone...and you all are the someone. Thanks for listening.:flower3:

On a happy note, my 3 year old granddaughter has been delighting me since Monday evening when they arrived from Virginia. She loves Disney music (and movies) and we have been dancing up a storm together!:goodvibes

 So sorry to hear this. I will be praying for you guys.

Good Morning everyone!! :goodvibes

Hope everyone is doing well, spoke with my daughter last night in Pensacola and she fared out very well. Had lots of wind and rain and was under tornado warning twice, but luckily no real ill effects. Those in Loiusiana made out far worse and certainly my thoughts and prayers are with them all this morning as they begin to cope with all the after effects! Mother Nature can sure be a beast and carry a heavy burden to us sometimes.

I went ahead just for kicks and priced out the RO discount vs what we are getting with FD and upgrade to DxDP and we fare out so much better with what we have in place already. We will end up saving a ton of $$$$ by simply staying with what we have. With everyone's situation different, I just wanted to be sure we were making the right decision and we most assuredly are!!

To those with loved ones struggling with early onset dimentia/alzheimer's- its really a tough and relentless disease. My grandmother/grandfather-- and dad had it and he passed away NYE last year- it was so hard seeing him suffer in the end but knowing he is at peace now and in heaven gives me comfort. As a nurse I know there are many new drugs out on market and even the older ones like Aricept still work extremely well for those in the early stages. Know you are not alone and that there are so many others that share in your struggle. This is a great forum with many supportive people. We're here if you need us!!

Have lots of work to do today so I am off to get started. I hope you all have a wonderful day!! ;)

So glad your daughter is fine.

Good morning all...dd has her appt with the specialist today. Keeping my fingers crossed that we finally get some answers.

I hope they are all good ones!

Okay fellow nov-ites which 2 would you choose for lunches out of the following restaurants?

Le Cellier
Teppan Edo
Coral Reef

My family is no help.

We really like Coral Reef.

we are back..dd has been diagnosed with allergy's and asthma. We will start the new meds and hopefully that will cure the sleep apnea and let her sleep thru a whole night. :yay:

I'm glad you got answers and everyone will be able to sleep better.

ok...set finally for our surprise november trip! We are DVC so all of our stays have been at DVC resorts. Jet blue just started flying out of our home airport 9or will be!) and the first week they are flying out the fairs are 75.00 each way. couldn't resist...soooooo..we are taking a short surprise trip. I was waiting to book CSR with a hopeful annual pass discount..but the same day they came out the resort showed full. We are now staying at pofq november 30-dec 4th. i was all excieted for CSR and am now trtying to get excited for pofq......but any time at Disney is GREAT!!:cool1::worship::banana:

Welcome. Thats a great price for flights. Happy planning!

Oh I can hardly wait until I open my mailbox and see my Mickey Mail!!

Me too!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!!:wave::wave::wave:

:dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3::dance3:

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! Our DD, DSIL and DGD will be leaving to go back to Virginia tomorrow. But he's looking for work (including in Ohio), so they may be back soon. Our DD is due with their second child late October, so they are hoping to get settled...like nowish!!

Our son who lives in Florida is coming home on Monday for a couple of days. He is testifying in a murder trial:scared1: and is being flown here by the prosecution. They want him as a character witness. He's nervous and I'm going to be going to the court with him and we'll be glad when he's done, but we're anxious to see him.::yes::

I hope he finds work soon. Congrats on another grandbaby. My DS3's birthday is Oct. 25th. I'd be nervous too about being a witness. I'm sure he'll feel better having you there.

Good Day everyone!! :goodvibes

Its absolutely beautiful here in Ocean Pines!! Its going to be a warm and sunny weekend, so I imagine Ocean City will be packed- at least the beach will. As far as the water park goes, we are also planning a day there, but will just pay out of pocket for our day there- price wise it just makes sense. To add it to our package would increase our cost alot more. And since we only have one day to go, it more cost effective for us. We would so much prefer Typhoon Lagoon- its our favorite but since its closed, we will head over to BB. Should still be a fun day.

Well my DH and Rachel are taking this mamma out for dinner tonight for my birthday!! Hard to believe this old mamma is 50 today!! :crazy2: I just can't get over the fact that I am half a century old---where does the time go??? But then again you are as young as you feel so I am choosing to feel young and vibrant- even though there are days I definitely don't feel that way.

Hope you have a incredible day and an wonderful Labor Day weekend!!!

Happy Birthday!!!!!!party:

The anxiety is starting to set in ... I am really worried about over-doing it with the girls. At 6, 3 and 1.5 I just don't think they can handle hours on end in a park. I told H I plan to leave each park for a few hours aftrer lunch each day to go back to the resort and rest and he thought I was nuts -- he said "We spent $XXX.XX to go to these parks, we're staying all day!" but I just don't see the girls doing that.

My youngest 2 still need their naps, even though I think they would sleep in the stroller I would much rather have them in a bed.

Has anyone done this trip with little kids before? How did you fit in rest time? I can use all the advice you have to give!

I know we'll be back in a year or 2, but I find myself trying to JAM as much into our schedule as I can. I am tempted to cut out most of Epcot -- which is right in the middle of our week -- we'll go for breakfast, do some stuff, eat lunch and go back to the room for the rest of the day until our dinner ressie @ 7p (MH are until midnight in teh event that we wanted to do more there).

I'm so worried we'll have two cranky toddlers on our hands and H will vow never to do Dis again!!! :furious:

I am completely happy with all of our ADRs.
So.... WHY do I keep searching the dining site? I'm not going to change anything. I just can't stop! I need an intervention!!!

When we went last time my oldest was 5 and the youngest was 22 months. We spent the bulk of the day in the parks, but skipped Epcot. The girls slept in their strollers while we walked about or found some cool places to stop and rest at. DD2 slept during the Nemo show at AK. We only had one meltdown through the entire trip and that was in line waiting to see the Fairies. The line was long and DD2 just didn't want to wait. I took her out of the line and we wandered around in the store and outside while DD1 went and got pictures and autographs. DD2 crashed out in the stroller not long after that. We also tried to go between outdoor activities and the indoor shows to cool off. November shouldn't have that issue so much I would think, but even being able to sit down to see a show can help calm the kiddos down a bit.

Waiting for fireworks/parades was another challenge. In order to get a spot where you could see and not get trampled on you kinda had to get there early. This resulted in a bit more waiting and in the humid September heat the girls really didn't want to just sit around.

The great thing though about all of that was when we would get back to POP at the end of the day they would crash almost immediately. As you know it can be a challenge sometimes to get little ones to go to sleep, especially when they are in a new place and there is a lot of excitement. The parks wiped them out though and they were asleep before their heads hit the pillows. DD1 quite literally fell asleep in the stroller from the bus to the room and we had to take her out of the stroller and put her in bed and she didn't wake up until morning.

We have some friends who go multiple times a year (they get the military discounts) and have gone since their oldest was an infant. They now have 3 kids and still go regularly.

To make a long story short (too late!:rotfl2:) the parks can be done and the kids will set the pace some. I don't think it's needed to go back to the room, largely due to the time it takes to do so, but it certainly can be done. The blog http://www.tipsfromthedisneydiva.com/ has some tips on taking breaks in the parks that can help out a lot.

As a dad I know there is the urge to say "I didn't spend all of this money for you to sleep in a hotel!" but you have to do what is needed for the kids. It may mean cutting out certain parks or certain areas of parks or going back to something more than once if that's what the kids really want to do. Play it by ear and have fun!

There is so much to do and see at Disney. You just want to naturally do it all. Its so easy to get caught up in everything. But you have to plan with your families needs in mind. Those needs don't change just because you are on vacation. And our personal experience is if we push to hard we come home either sick or just to overly tired. :goodvibes

I am completely happy with all of our ADRs.
So.... WHY do I keep searching the dining site? I'm not going to change anything. I just can't stop! I need an intervention!!!

You must have been drinking the Disney koolaid. :rotfl:

I really need to decide about keeping FD at WL or keeping the Dolphin...leaning towards WL. In case we do, that means I need some more ADRs. And what a better place to ask for advice than here amongst ADR experts?!

I have had the following since the 180 day mark:

CP breakfast (our tradition)
WCC dinner (if staying at WL)
'Ohanas breakfast (new)
50s Prime Time lunch (new)
Chefs de France dinner (new)

Need 3 more. Not interested in any more breakfasts. No hoppers so somewhat tied to park days. Would like to try new places this trip.

Need ADRs for:

Epcot Day: Thinking Teppan Edo or Via Napoli or Cape May or La Hacienda for a lunch or dinner. Any advice? I actually love CS/making meals out of snacks around World Showcase but last time I wasn't able to redeem TS for CS at various WS locations (which I know some of you think I'm crazy to even consider...sorry)

AK Day: we will probably finish by 2:00 so dinner could be anywhere that's not too inconvenient to reach from WL. (Or Rainforest Cafe on the way out?) If we end up doing MVMVP that evening we will try out the Plaza but since we don't have hoppers that's not an option if we don't do the party. I really don't plan to do DTD at all this year, we aren't big shoppers, so that's out.

As for the third, we will probably just try to schedule another impromptu WCC meal when we are hanging at the resort and are hungry, to use up the TS credits.

Considered combining for a signature to prevent a regimented ADR daily, but with DD11 and DD6, probably not.

I would also prefer places without the CC guarantee since I am still up in the air and may cancel and don't want to worry about tracking charges.

Wow, that's a lot to ask. Maybe no one will want to help me after all!! If you do, God bless you!

I do this all the time! Don't even know what I am looking for, but I keep looking.

Last year we went in sept with a just 2 year old and still 3 year old. They both napped at home still so we just left the park after lunch. Sometimes we made it back to the park but a couple days we just stayed at the resort. They were just as excited to swim and explore the resort as they were to ride rides.

I think your husband may need to read " The Unoffical Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids" It changed my perspective completely. I followed the tips in this book and we had no melt downs and everyone including us parents had a wonderful trip.

:thumbsup2The section where they have advice from a children's psychologist is just brilliant.

I haven't been to Disney yet but I always feel so bad for the kids at other parks when there is an adult telling them they HAVE to do something b/c they paid so much for this trip, etc etc... It's their trip too and as the adult we have to accomodate their needs to make it an enjoyable trip for everyone!

But I certainly think it can be done, just knowing what you're children can handle and giving them the breaks they need should do it.:goodvibes

Subbing! I'm pretty close to booking a quick getaway for DD's birthday the weekend after Thanksgiving. We have a companion ticket to burn before the end of the year, and the room only discount sold it for me.

For those that have been in late Nov, is the weather nice enough to swim outside?

Feeling a little closer to getting everything done. Called and cancelled our extra ADRs and confirmed our ME earlier this week. Booked and paid for our stroller rental today. Next is order our waterpark passes, order our photopass +, get a LC lunch reservation. Other then that just need to pay the remainder and pack.

Good Day everyone!! :goodvibes

The parks are full of little ones who needed a nap and didn't get one. You can spot those families a mile away.:scared: Trust me, no one is having a good time! If you think your kids will nap in a stroller, that's great. But if not, leave the parks and get them their naps. (A lot of adults actually take naps too!;)) The thing is, yes, you spend a lot of money to go, but going back for naps doesn't mean you can't have a wonderful time. We left the parks around 2:00 or so all but one day when we were there in April, thinking we would return, but never did because the pool was such a huge draw and we thought, as long as our little 5 year old is happy, we're happy too. Was it Disney World the way we usually do it? No. But we made the trip about what our little one wanted to do and we had a blast! You know your kids, so you'll have to make that call. It is such a temptation to try to do everything on your first trip. You can't accomplish it, even without kids! The scope of the four parks is something you have to experience to fully understand it. Good luck to you. :goodvibes

:lmao:

Actually thats a really good prank..Put the powdered koolaid in the shower head. :scared1::rotfl2::rotfl:

Why Smileybug, I'm shocked....NOT!:rotfl2::rotfl2: (I think we would be good friends if we lived close to each other!:rolleyes1)

For your Epcot day I'm with you on the Teppan Edo. Love that place! We also like Le Chefs de France. Haven't eaten at your other possibilities, so can't comment on them.

For AK day, would you consider Boma? We have been eating there every year for about 3 years now and love it. I don't think they open until 4 for dinner, so that may not work for you if you're leaving at 2 unless you want to stroll around AKlodge and watch the animals from one of their observation areas. They have a wide variety of food and some really yummy deserts!

If you do WCC earlier in your stay, I wouldn't do it again. (although we very much enjoyed our meal there!) I say do the party and eat at the Plaza. That sounds like loads of fun! If not the party, 1900 Park Fare sounds like a fun place to eat. I have no idea if the ones I suggested ask for a CC or not, sorry. Good luck with making your decisions!:goodvibes

The weather is always up in the air (no pun intended:rotfl:) but the one time we went in November it was indeed warm enough to swim. In fact we spent a day at one of the water parks.::yes:: Where are you going to be staying?

Thanks! Looking at a split stay at Pop and Poly since we've never experienced either. We're going to do MVMCP on her birthday which will be another first for us. Is it true that the monorail stops operating after regular park hours and would that include events like MVMCP?

Good Morning!! :goodvibes

Welcome to September, just 2 more months and we'll be on our way to the happiest place on earth!! We are getting so excited and the kids are now beginning to really talk about it more and all they are looking forward to. Its really fun- gosh its been so long I even feel like a little kid in candy store!! :)

Had a great birthday dinner out last night, food was fabulous and even though my Sarah is back home in Pensacola I still felt her with us. Can't wait till we are all together again- meeting up in Disney.

Thank goodness we have Monday off and an extended break this weekend. I have alot to get done. I want to go and see what outfits I have and exactly what I want to take with me on the trip. I bought a few cute things yesterday---the Labor Day sales here are really great!!

Well hope everyone has a happy and safe Labor Day!!
