First WDW DVC Trip Report! BWV, BCV, PIT VS RIV AND VERO! PIT Edition! 🌸🌋🌊

I think when reading trip reports im always going to ask people, what time of year did you go 🤣🤣 Because that can really affect the trip!

If i had to wait 45 mins for a dole whip and not be able to do things I would be really upset and choose riv too. That is, in fact, how i felt when i toured it during a busy Rundisney weekend. It was a big hell no. Come to think of it, i remember there were sooo many people taking pictures of the Island Tower that it was just plain annoying even trying to see it. Riv was a freaking escape from the madness 🤣🤣

Aside from the BCV first day unfortunate pool incident that happened, the pool was so quiet on some days. I was thinking no way can it be this dead all the time. The day we were building sand castles and had a lot of fun I couldn't believe how empty it was. We didnt have to wait for a floatie and we never had to wait in line for the slide. That was my favorite day 🤣 Would love to read your trip report once you get to PIT!
I think you a very right. Time of year makes a big difference. You might have missed a thread I started last month where I was debating whether to book part of our spring break trip next year at BCV or BWV. I initially wanted to do BCV, but several Facebook pages I was reading about BCV were talking about people rope dropping Storm Along Bay, lining up an hour early just to get their preferred spot at the pool. That sounded so crazy to me. I think that might ultimately have been a short lived thing though, and sounds like your experience was nothing like that (once you take away the unfortunate and shocking incident).

No plans for PIT next year (at least not yet). CCV, BWV, VB, and then still figuring out our June trip - I think I want to try BLT before PIT, but I'm sure I will get to it at some point.

I like doing comparisons, so I def would have liked to do a PIT and BLT back to back (best fireworks resort at seven seas showdown) so maybe you can do that next time!

Noo my bcv experience def wasnt like that, im really glad we're having this conversation because I didnt think much about time of year before, it was more like when is the low point season and im interested in holidays, but I think going by time of year is best after this convo.

The biggest downside to August/Sept is the every day spontaneous down pours of rain. (well the heat too)

Yeah, I could see several factors. DVC rooms, by design, are supposed to be filled by DVC members, and the points charts are designed to keep them full at all times of the year. At resorts like Poly, you have the hotel component which, depending on the time of year, could be fully booked or not. And, even if it is fully booked, I imagine September is a time of year where there are more adults without kids taking trips simply because a lot of kids are back in school. And, you have the non-resort guest visitor dynamic as well - like, over July 4th, sounds like the monorail resorts do tend to get a lot of non-resort visitors. Any way you cut it, sounds like you picked a great time at Poly!

Last August, I just remember trying to apply sunscreen at Typhoon Lagoon. Walked from our car in the parking lot through the entrance, and then back to the kiddie area (Ketchakiddie Creek, I think). I should have applied sunscreen before heading there because I was sweating so profusely at that point that all of the sunscreen I applied just dripped right off with my sweat. I'm not sure I have ever quite experienced that before. That said, I'd do it again!

I would highly recommend this time of year for a Poly stay!
