November 2012 Trip planners #4~almost Disney time! Everyone welcome!

Question to everyone...for those of us not driving, will you be using ME, if not what is your other mode of transportation to the resorts? Trying to decide if we should rent a limo or such? Hired an Escalade last time from MCO to WL and it was sooo nice to be able to find your driver, get the luggage and go!. Then took ME back afterwards. Looking for a good company to deal with.

This is our first time, so I have no experience with the ME, but I know my husband and he does NOT run on other peoples time! When we get to the airport he is going to be ready to leave. RIGHT AWAY. Haha.

I also heard that ME gets you to the airport way too early for your departure flight. H and I fly often for work, and for a domestic flight we never get to the airport more than 1.5 hrs before hand, and I hear people getting there 3 hours early. No thanks!

So, we're using Happy Limo. I was quoted at $220 (plus tip) for round trip service and 1 grocery stop in a stretch 8 passenger limo. Our girls are going to FREAK out -- they've never been in a limo! And, I like the extra pampering :rolleyes1

We used ME on our last trip and loved it. I really enjoyed not having to drive at all on the trip. That's part of why I love Disney and Las Vegas as destinations.

That being said you have to set expectations for the ME and Disney transportation experience. The travel time will be a little longer after you arrive but not having to carry a family's worth of luggage, car seats, strollers, etc is worth it to me. Same for the return trip. Bell service picked up our bags at our room and we checked them at the resort, then got on the bus headed for MCO. We were there early, but knowing that even if security was busy we wouldn't be running to the gate was relaxing. We also had time to enjoy a final meal at a relaxing pace.

The same goes with the onsite transportation. The buses aren't as fast, but are typically convenient ways to get around. We are expecting to not use them as much this year since we will have our own car, but may use them if we just don't feel like driving or aren't in a rush. We know we will be there at a peak time so the buses will be crowded and it may take more than one bus to arrive before we can get on. As long as we prepare ourselves and get in line early enough we should still make it to our destinations reasonably. On the flip side if we are slow to get ready and try to get to an ADR in 30 minutes we will be anxious and feel rushed and where is the fun of that on vacation?

I used to think that three hours seemed really early, but every time we use ME, by the time we actually make it to the airport, it's really not that far in advance. We have stayed at AKL the last few times. We are the first ones to be picked up, we then pick up three more places before heading to the airport. By the time we clear security with the kids, go to the bathroom, and get a snack, we have maybe 30-45 minutes to wait before we have to board. It's really not that bad.

Now if you are looking at it from the perspective of not missing any time at Disney, then driving yourself or getting someone to pick you up so you don't waste park time, makes sense.

We used ME our last trip and really liked it. It really helps to put the yellow tags on the bag though. (I forgot) So we had to pick up our bags and make our way to the bus. Still we ended up with a front seat to get a good pic. On the return trip we got there with enough time to grab a bite before we took off.

We are all for not driving while we are there.

But if you arrive in the evening --and arent doubg a park it is our experience to NOT put the yellow tags on and get the luggage yourself. I think we arrived at our resort around 6 pm last year, wanted to unpack and settle in, but we truly waited the 3 hours for our luggage. Good thing I packed swimsuits in the carry ons!

has anyone heard rumors of bog for 11/11. i saw it on fb and not sure if i should try. that is our last day

I was wondering the same thing. I wonder if that rumor is accurate and why wouldn't they just announce it for 11/11 instead of 11/19? But I'll be there until the 15th, so that would be super awesome if it were true!!!! I'm thinking I'll take a chance, what could it hurt?:confused3

I love to try new crafts I taught myself to knit by watching videos on YouTube. I'm sure you will find lots of how to videos on bow making if you look. The type of bow dictates the type of ribbon so I would YouTube videos to learn about what you need to do it will be helpful

Good morning!
Congrats Smileybug!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :yay: :dance3:

Guess what????????????????????
Today is

my

99th day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:cool1:

OMG! So who thinks Monday morning will be insane??? Its going to be absolute madness with everyone calling for ADR to BOG!! I am calling at 6:59AM- gosh I really hope I get through I want an ADR for Thanksgiving dinner!!!! Its the only place I can fit it in too!! I am sooooooo nervous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope the stars align and I get some pixie dust as well!! pixiedust:

I'll be trying for 12/4!!! Hope everyone gets their dates.

Thats the day we are supposed to leave for home, but I might be adding another 3 days to the 1 I already added at start of trip!! The airfare leaving on Wednesday is far cheaper than leaving on Sunday- by like total of 750$ for all of us, insane I know. What's the deal with that. southwest is still the cheapest but I talked to my boss at work and she has to run it by her supervisor since now I am asking for 2 weeks instead of 1!! Insane isn't it that actually by adding days works out cheaper- I never thought I would ever say that. So now I just have to wait and pray the airfare holds till I hear back which should hopefully only be a few more days.

Thats exciting!! :cool1:

I saw these tutu kits at Joanns I got the Ariel and because there was no Cinderella I had to get the stuff to make it my self. They are going to be a surprise. I also got a couple tiaras and some glow stick, necklaces and bracelets at the dollar store

Very cute.

Is there an Added-A-Day-Twice club? LOL Well, I lost my mind and decided we could use another day on top of our existing plans, so we're now checking in 11/1 and checking out 11/12. AoA-LM is fully booked that last night. So I went even crazier and booked a room-only night in a Cars suite. Still hoping for LM, but DS would love it if we kept the suite, even for a night... And at 75 days at counting, I paid off a third of our trip today, with the rest getting paid off this coming week!

They look so cute and comfy. Not itchy like other dress up clothes.

We've used ME 3 times and never had a problem. Hopefully this holds true in November.

We were double digit dancing today!!!! :cool1:

99 days!!!!!

To celebrate I made pancakes for breakfast and arranged them in Mickey shapes. We had Princess chicken soup, Mickey head cheese, and Cars sugar cookies for lunch. Bed time snack was Phineas and Ferb gogurts. The kids got a kick out of all the Disney food. We also watched Meet the Robinsons. We had a fun Disney day.
