Hi all!

I'd much rather be :surfweb: than :laundy: myself. So i don't blame any of you!

So this is my current dilemma:
I'm wondering if I should take the plunge and change my resort to AoA. The Standard Rooms are now available from mid Sept. Costs slightly more than the other value resorts, but it's manageable. From what I've read, it will most likely not be sharing buses with Pop. I'm worried about the crowds too. It's right next to Pop, which is a HUGE resort. And I can imagine lots of WDW guests going over to simply check out the newest resort. But my main concern is whether or not it will be excluded from FD and other promotions. Our round trip transcontinental flight will already cost a small bomb. So, yeah. Cost is definitely a factor for us, especially when dining at WDW is expensive. What should I do?

I am not sure. I checked those out too. I was considering switching BUT didnt wanna all be crammed into 2 rooms there vs 4 rooms at POR. BUT I have read that ppl who stay in the RGR at POR still get FD even though they are new this year too. I think its a gamble. I would book BUT as soon s FD is offered call to get that offer. If its not available, u might have to change, thats a gamble u have to be willing to take

I would imagine that as long as you are booking through Disney, and paying their full price, you wouldn't be excluded from FD, should they offer that during your trip. This is just my hunch based on my several trips to WDW.

Good Luck! Planning WDW vacations are so much fun, but lots of stress too. We all want to consider every possibility, and make each trip special.

Thanks, RhettsMom and Mommyof3princess27. I will sleep on this for a few nights. Being able to stay at a brand new resort does sound exciting! LM section will only be 2 months into its opening by the time we get there. So, I will mull over this for a little while more. FD or a good room discount would be fantastic. Keeping my fingers crossed!

I am struggling with wether to go ahead with AoA as well, and the discount situation is not as clear cut as it may seem. So far, it has been excluded for all room only discounts, and was initally completely excluded form FD. There is now VERY limited availibility for FD at AoA, but that is the ONLY discount that applies. From what I understand it is pretty typical to exclude a brand new resort form discounts. I am likely going to go ahead and book AoA with the intent of switching if FD is offered for our dates, but not at AoA. The opening of the new Fantasyland expansion is likely to be a big draw as well, so I am wondering if there will be FD at all.

Agreed! :thumbsup2

I'm taking a moment or two to :surfweb: before I have to head off to hand in my last paper of the term...and of my degree! :dance3:  :woohoo:

Awesome!!

Don't you wish the smart people who created these :surfweb: would find a way to make this :surfweb: do this :laundy: ?

Well...................No :rotfl2:

I try to avoid it.... this past year, I switched my park days to avoid it. Our last MK day is friday the 30th so I am hoping it doesnt effect my planning :headache: :faint:

Oh I rather do :surfweb: than :laundy: anyday! But it would be nice if :surfweb: did :laundy: :yay: but then :surfweb: might be able to do :teacher: :lmao:

The one year I made the mistake and took us into the MK during the Christmas parade taping........:scared1: The crowds down Main Street was just unbelievable. But I do have to say once we got past that area, it wasn't to bad. But you had to climb over people to move in that area. :sad2:

Anybody doing the photpass+? We are planning to do many of the dining choices listed on the list. I think it maybe worth it.

I am rethinking my dining choices to include Fantasmic! Maybe doing H&V because MM and HBD just dont sound appitizing to my. Thoughts?

I'm thinking about the Photopass+.
:rotfl2:I didn't realize you had not included Fantasmic. I'm one of those people that really do enjoy it. And my opinion is do it.

I have been peeking in on this resort as well. It just plain looks like FUN!! I would think that if free dining is offered that AoA would be included as well.

As far as sharing buses with Pop. Most of the resorts share in one way or another. So I'm sure the logistics will be worked out and things will work fine.

I completely agree with you.

I know that resort indecision can drive you crazy.....So I hope you are sure of your choice soon.

We pre-ordered the regular Photopass before they upped the prices. I really can not see a need for the + version, but I am still looking to see what else it might cover that I have not seen already

We liked MM for the Fantasmic package last time we were there. Have never tried Brown Derby though, so it is hard to compare.

On a slightly related note, thinking about getting an Amazon Kindle Fire. Does anyone know if it will work on the resorts' Wi-Fi networks?

I know everyone keeps saying this but I'm going to say it again - I want to see park hours for my dates! It's seriously driving me crazy! My biggest concern now is that they won't be out when I book dining

I know everyone keeps saying this but I'm going to say it again - I want to see park hours for my dates! It's seriously driving me crazy! My biggest concern now is that they won't be out when I book dining

October hours were out to travel agents around 3-16-12 or so. I would guess in a week or so November hours will be out....I am also very impatient!!! ;)

I am thinking about a Kindle Fire also :thumbsup2.....can I ask you some questions? :goodvibes
Why the Fire & not one of the other Amazon ones?

Do you have to pay a montly rate for internet time or anything else? I know there is the cost of the Kindle + books/movies/magzines, but is there some hidden cost I don't see?

If you get books from audible.com, can you start where you left off? I have Kindle for my blackberry & I can't, or at least I haven't figured out how to start where I left off. :confused3

Thanks for your help!

Joining in the November planning fun as well! We are booked at AoA from November 11-16 with deluxe dining. We are passholders so I am hoping for a pretty good passholder discount. Any thoughts of passholder discounts for AoA? Can't wait to plan along with everyone! I can't wait until we can book dining!

We will be there the 13th-15th. :cool1: I got a AAA discount, I figured it was better than paying rack rate.

Hi Everyone!! We have just booked 11/19 - 11/24 at BWI. I also booked using AAA discount which took about 15% off rack rate - I'm glad to have at least gotten this, but would LOVE a little more off, obviously :-)

I'm very nervous about crowds - we went one other time during Thanksgiving week and it was super crowded, but with a now teenager, so hard to pull her out for more than a day or two without it being a struggle for her to catch up.

I also booked my airfare knowing how the rates keep going up and it being a holiday week - went with Jetblue - actually like this carrier better than the alternatives.

Hoping for a possible discount for all of us!!!!

Kindle Fire- yes you can use the internet, read books, watch movies, all of it!

Go to Amazon and read the 'boards' you will find lots of info on all the Kindle products. If you want movies, music you will need to get the Amazon Prime, it is $79 a year, first 30 days are free with the purchase of the Fire. You will get lots of free stuff with the prime though so worth it.

Bev

Hi all! We should be booking soon for 11/17-23 at POP I've been wishing and hoping for a discount but I realizr how unlikely that is for the holiday week. Perhaps i should look into booking AAA rate?

If you have AAA you should. You can always switch if a code or pin comes your way. :cool1:

Most of the resorts(or atleast the Deluxes and Mods) have it

If there is any way you could swing arriving on the 15th rather than the 17th you may have a shot at FD. It usually ends the Thursday before thanksgiving.
