November 2012 Code Watch!!

I keep forgetting the Be Our Guest restaurant should be open! :cool1: And I suggest doing Cape May for dinner, it's amazing! :thumbsup2

Thanks, good advice! I'm not 100% sure if we are going in November, but if we do, I have to catch the last few days of Food and Wine! I'm guessing that weekend will be insane, which is why I was hoping to get there Thursday to do some F&W festival before the weekend.

We did the last weekend of F&W in 2010 and Friday was manageable, but Saturday was insane! Saturday during the day might be do-able, but I'd probably stay away from Epcot at night!

We're still deciding between late September and mid-November for our trip...September we'd get to go longer, because it's value season still, and the dates just work out better for us since our AP's will still be good, but November has Food and Wine AND Christmas decorations AND better weather! It's a tough choice! I really love going in November!
Yes, I anticipate the last weekend of F&W to be crowded, but from what I heard from friends there this year, they said Friday am and Sunday am were not too bad. Saturday apparently was totally crazy, so we are avoiding that for sure. We plan to hit the booths immediately at 11am and be done by 2pm. Day time is much less crowded than nighttime. If you can do thursday/Friday, that would be even better! We did weekdays at F&W this year and walked right up to every booth.

So wondering what the weather will be like the end of November, do I pack coats or just light jackets....I'm guessing no on the coats, since even here in Georgia we barely wear them, but then again I'm not out all day in it...need to buy some sort of Disney jackets for us all maybe end of season :thumbsup2
I've done the first week of December many times and it is always unpredictable, you have to be prepared for cold and warm. In fact in 2010, it was downright freezing, we wore coats, gloves, hats and scarves. It was miserable, in the 30s/40s. But then another year you can swim and it is in the 70s. So be prepared for anything. LAYERING is key. We didn't bring actual coats. I had hoodies for all of us, plus long sleeve white t-shirts to layer short sleeve shirts over, plus hoodie, gloves etc. However, DH happened to bring a coat and he was glad he did! I did bring my son's coat too. And we bought a blanket for him in the stroller.

Ugh! Frustrated with Disney math!! :confused3 I thought I had decided on DDP, but tonight, I decided to take another look at 1 annual pass + TIW. I just don't know!! GRRRRRRR

AP/TIW would give us more flexibility if we wanted an appetizer instead of dessert or DS wanted an adult meal instead of a kid's. We'd also get some (small) merchandise discounts & MVMCP discounts (small). I just don't know! I wish there was a chart to just plug the numbers in somewhere! :teacher: Of course, I did my own chart/spreadsheet, but I am just not sure :headache:
I have to say, we used TIW in the last two years and liked it. Because we are DVC now, we don't get free dining, so we either pay for DDP or use TIW. I did the math, selecting our restaurants, looking at menus and picking out what we would probably get and coming up with a cost per meal. Then I took the 20% off for TIW (includes alcohol!) and compared. We ended up saving more with TIW, using it over two trips. WE used it for December 2010 and October 2011. We were there for 8 nights each time and I thnk used it at like 16 sit down restaurants. I think we saved like $800 all together. We don't typically order dessert, so the DDP was just a waste to us on the dessert front. Sure it's nice, but no way we can each finish a dessert on or own. We might get one to share every now and then, but not at every meal. It felt wasteful doing that on the dining plan. TIW isn't always cheaper for everyone though. I also liked having an AP- we had planned to get the AP anyhow as we were doing 2 trips within 2 years.

we just got a personal pin for our nov 4-14th dates, thx to saving a hotel on disney.com, but not booking.

30% off vallue, mod and akl or wl.

Pofq here we come! :cool1:
Wow- congrats!

We have officially booked our first Disney trip for November 12-19 at POP. So excited, but so confused as to where to start planning.
I definitely know we would like to do MVMCP, do you know when tickets go on sale for this?

Congrats on booking! We are there that week too.

MVMCP and MNSSHP tickets typically go on sale in May. The weekday parties are less crowded. Locals often come in for the weekend parties, making them more crowded. We almost always try and do a Tuesday party. Remember tickets are non refundable, so many wait to buy on site if they are going during a slower time when parties don't sell out- that way if the weather looks bad, they can pick a different night to go. We always buy in advance with our DVC discounted nights. This year, our MNSSHP was rainy, but thankfully the rain stopped before the parade and fireworks.

Park hours and EMH days will be released in May probably too (6 months out). That is when you can make your dining reservations (ADRs) too.

Congrats on the PIN! :cool1: I would love to get one for WDW but we only ever seem to pick them up for DL; I wonder if it is because we are on the west coast? Also we are not staying very long this time, just 10.31-11.3 so I don't know that my saved itineraries will do any good but here is hoping! :wizard:

Subbing in. We are going November 30th -December 7th. Not counting on a promo or PIN, but it would be nice :)

I know, the whole PIN thing is such a mystery!

ONe year, they sent a postcard for FD pin (which later was open to the public anyhow) to my parents address, but in my hubby's name. We had all done a big group family trip previously and my parents had foot the bill, so wonder if that is why it was sent there with his name. ONe year i did get an email one too, but that's all I have ever gotten. The year I got the email was right after I did the custom maps on the web site too.

So excited for getting the pin! I actually get about two a year in the mail or email, but this is the first to ever acknowledge dates we are interested in. Ive never been able to use any of the other ones.

Okay....Got a bit of news.

My sister decided to call Disney and just plain ask if free dining was going to be offered. The CM she spoke with has been with Disney either 4 or 5 years. The CM told her that FD is being offered through march now. My sister told her she was aware of that. But what about Nov.? The CM said typically when FD is offered through march is it offered through the end of the year. But she really couldn't say anymore than that. :goodvibes

That sounds promising!! :banana::banana::banana:

Why don't you have a ticker?

DH is the computer geek in the family. I tried to do one once & got a nasty virus. Promised I wouldn't do the ticker thing again. I just live vicariously through other people's tickers
