November 2012 Code Watch!!

I am sticking to my week starting the Saturday after Thanksgiving to the following Saturday. It is super early this year; November 24th to December 1st.

I already have a ticket left over unused from a previous trip and when I go solo, I don't do the dining plan. So 7 nights at POR is $1365.00 for just me.

I looked at going back to the land/sea package that I did the first three years I started going to Disney back in 2000. A four day parks package with a three day cruise package; obstructed porthole view room on deck 8 is $1,945.00.

A room discount with the entire week at POR would be the cream of the crop. A room discount with the four days of the cruise part would be awesome too.

Right now, I am sticking to the 7 days at POR, but may upgrade to the land/sea package if the room discount comes out. Even if it only part of the trip, it will be worth it.

However, right now I am erring on the side of caution; when my taxes come back in February, I know I can pay off the 8 day resort trip and have money left over for spending. The land/sea package is tight right now.

And of course, this year is carpet replacement for the house, new a/c unit, painting, etc. Hate when the house takes precedence over the Disney trips......:sad2:

We are still trying to decide to do a November trip again in 2012 or wait until 2013. Guess I'll watch for discounts :)

I'm so excited that on Christmas Eve I will get to call DVC and book our 7 night stay at Villas at Wilderness Lodge :cloud9:. We will be arriving the day after Thanksgiving, staying at Pop (most likely) our first night and then moving over to VWL for 7 nights. We are secretly hoping for free dining during a portion of our trip, which would mean changing our plans and staying at Pop the entire time. That would actually save us $$ since we were planning on using my DVC points and paying OOP for the dining plan. If free dining does materialize, I would be able to save my DVC points for another trip :woohoo:. Has anyone seen the new additions to the dining plan in 2012? Many places that never participated (RFC, T-Rex, Portabello, Fulton's to name a few) will participate in 2012.

Hi ladies!!! New to the boards! We are planning to go to Disney Nov 15-20. Staying at POR unless we decide to buy in DVC......If we don't buy DVC. Hoping for FD!!! When we went to disney is Oct there was NO specials :(

Hi there!

We love going in early November - the weather is usually perfect for us.

We will be staying at Pop - it is my daughters favorite resort, and I have to say that I really like it too.

Happy belated (or early!) birthday! I will try to remember to send you birthday wishes closer to the date. :)

LA

One day I'll get to go in early November. It's just impossible for us right now with the kids' school schedules.

Good morning y'all! Miss me? We have been so busy lately I haven't had time to check in. I get a daily email of any posts on this thread so I have been keeping up y'all.

I took the morning off so I could go to DS's Christmas party at preschool. After that I only have to work this afternoon and Monday, then I'm off until the Wednesday after Christmas!! I think I'm as excited as the kids! I can't wait to spend more time with them. We have all kinds of fun activities planned for each day.

On a Disney related note, I still haven't changed our Disney reservations from the week after Thanksgiving to the week before. That's on my list for next week too.

I hope everyone has a fantastical weekend!!

I missed you. It's been awfully slow here lately. I hope you enjoy all your time off. It's tough getting up and going to work when the WHOLE rest of the house is sleeping. Plus, it's been so dark. I'm so happy the days are going to start getting longer again. I need LIGHT!

Good luck deciding. Sounds like you have a great plan. BTW, I'm sorry about your beloved kitty......

I vote for 2012! And THEN 2013!

Sounds great! Are those restaurants just on the premium and platinum dining plans or the regular and deluxe, too?

Welcome!!!:goodvibes Ooh, the thought of doing DVC is so exciting! I say go for it. (I'm GREAT spending other people's money, aren't I?!

Happy last tuesday before Christmas ya'll. :goodvibes

Same to you! Hope to see you post more again.

Well, it looks like Contemporary is out, BUT we have finally decided upon the Yacht Club and we are all SOOOOOO excited! We can't WAIT to stay there.:dance3::yay::cool1: Woo-hoooo!

So busy. Trying not to drive myself crazy. NOTHING is wrapped yet. I HATE wrapping. I'm quite sure this is because I leave it all to the last minute and then it all has to be done NOW. But, I never learn and do it a little at a time.:sad2:

Oh, gosh, I can't believe I forgot to mention:

We got a PIN in the mail today! 30% off select hotels in November 2012. UGH and of COURSE, it's not Thanksgiving week (is there a banging your head on a brick wall smilie?!). ARGH! :sad1::sick::headache::sick::sick::sick::sad1::sad1::sad1::sad1:

We'd actually be able to do three days this way, but the only deluxe resorts included are AKL (standard room, which only sleeps 4) and DWL. If we went back to POR, it doesn't include our dates at all..... BAH HUMBUG! :sad1::sick::headache:

Hello everyone! I am hopping on board...we are deciding on room type at Beach Club in November. I can't wait to see if there is a deal. Was there one this year??? I have been going every year for the last three and still don't receive any Disney mail/pin codes. How do you all get those?

Well crap- Disney just announced they have moved the Wine and Dine marathon to the last weekend of food and wine. It is usually the first weekend. They just announced a new race- the Twilight Zone 10 mile run that will happen the first weekend of F&W. ugh. I am booked Nov 9-17th at BLT (DVC), which means it is going to be more crowded Nov 9-11th weekend due to the race. That weekend is already festival of the masters too at DTD. UGH! Save me now. I would change, but it is a hassle and the week before I think is Jersey week. Week after is Thanksgiving.

No, I haven't see the list, but I guess I'll be putting T-Rex on my itinerary!

We have been considering changing our dates from the week after Thanksgiving to the week before Thanksgiving, and had finally made our minds up. Don't forget this is Veteran's weekend.

We're planning on the 10th-17th and I agree that this is nervewracking! That weekend is going to be packed - no way around it. But will it be worth it since Tues-Fri will likely be awesome? We're not planning on hitting the MK until at least Tues of that trip. BUT, I'll admit I'm considering switching to the week after Thanksgiving.

Who has their crystal ball out to tell me what to do???? :confused3

can anyone share their codes>?

The NJ teacher's convention is Nov 8 and 9 and Tuesday Nov 6 is election day, most districts will have off the entire week. We go every year during Jersey week and some years are worse than others but we usually leave on Friday before the last weekend of W&D. We were also there and ran the 5K for the W&D this past year. I love the IDEA of having the race at the end of the festival, but that being said, the crowds will be crazy. Assuming they will also have an afterparty it will make flights home on Sunday $$$.

Ok-so when is Wine and Dine marathon and when is Jersey week? I think I have confused myself.

They moved the Wine & Dine marathon weekend to Veteran's Day weekend.

can anyone share their codes>?

Codes can not be shared. They are assigned to individuals, and others are not able to use them.

That's my worry. :confused3

I am driving myself absolutely crazy!! Last year we went to Disney (our first trip) the week after Thanksgiving. It was a perfect 1st trip. We are going back next year, and had originally planned to go the same week, but decided to go the week before Thanksgiving for several reasons.

(1) I kept an eye on the wait times for the major attractions at all 4 parks on several phone apps for both weeks, and the week before Thanksgiving had shorter wait times. Not sure how reliable it was.
(2) With the Veteran's Day holiday and Thanksgiving holidays, I can take 7 days off work and get two full weeks off, giving me plenty of time to unpack, wash clothes, and prepare for Thanksgiving.
(3) If we go the week before Thanksgiving, it will give the kids (2nd grade and preschool next year) a week at home to "recover" from the trip, and give me more time to spend with them.
(4) And last, we can squeeze in an extra day the parks!

Now I'm reconsidering going the week after Thanksgiving for several reasons, but I'm not sure how valid my reasons are. :confused3

(1) The Veteran's Day holiday is sure to bring in more crowds since Disney moved the Food & Wine Marathon weekend to the last weekend of the Food & Wine Festival, which also happens to be Veteran's Day weekend. (We would be arriving that Sunday.)
(2) I'm not sure when the Thanksgiving crowds start descending upon Disney World. We would be leaving the Sunday or Monday of Thanksgiving week. I'm sure Sunday would be more crowded, but that would be our last day and we would be just revisiting a few attractions and picking up last minute souvenirs.

DH is no help. He just says, "Whatever you want" since I handle all the planning. My MIL is going with us, and she's less help than DH. She says, "I'm taking the whole month of November off work so whenever is fine with me."

I can't tell you how many times I have gone over this in my head, and I just can not make a decision. My indecision is driving me nuts because I'm not normally indecisive.

I am totally with you! Ever since we got back from our last trip 2 years ago, I've been researching the week before Thanksgiving. It all sounded perfect - low crowds, mostly decent weather, Osbourne and castle lights (never seen either).

But, of course, 2012 is the year that has all the new factors to consider for that week. Plus some of New Fantasyland opening. I'm still leaning towards keeping our plans for the 10th-17th because the odds are better for warmer weather. We've been during Jersey Week before and considered that but I really want to see the Christmas lights.

The thing is that none of the weeks are perfect. I am placing all my faith in the hope that the crowds will magically disappear after all the F&W festivities. Then we'll have walk-on rides for 4 days. A girl can dream, right?:rolleyes1

And my DH also says "whatever you want to do, I trust you. You're the planner." He loves just showing up to my meticulously planned vacations! Lucky man!

I forgot to add that I got a 40% off pin code in January 2011 that was good for many dates throughout 2011, including November. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get the same thing in the next couple weeks for 2012...
