mommyof3..... I'm so glad that you are feeling better today. :goodvibes But makeup work stinks.

One year away from your trip. I'm so jealous. :rotfl: We have 13 days to be able to say that. And believe me I can't wait. :lovestruc That will be the begining of my real planning. I also believe that once you reach the year mark.....things start moving faster. :thumbsup2 I really like the looks of a ticker that is less than a year. :goodvibes

I agree too! Its like time flies once you hit the 12 month mark! And just think in six months you can make your ressies! Then TIME FLIES lol I have 1 year and 15 days and those 15 days are going so so so slow :)

I am already having an internal battle with myself and wondering what your opinions are since I know you ladies love Disney like I do.

We stayed at POR in August/September of this year. We liked it, but in no way did we love it. I always said the hotel is just a place to sleep but the trundle was awful. Since they redid the rooms (or are in the process of) we are going to give it another shot. But overall, we weren't thrilled with the theming, buses, etc. but again we are trying it in 2012.

So I'm thinking ahead to 2013 already! LOL! I am wondering IF we are still not thrilled with POR, we would start looking deluxe....but with the kind of money we are looking at, I'm not sure if we could afford to go every single year. What's more important to you? Are you the type deluxe only even if its every other year? Or do you not care and just go every year cheapest option you have?

I go every year and stay moderate at POR. I am not a deluxe person myself; I feel in love with POR about five years ago and have gone back every year since.

I stayed deluxe once and wasn't overly thrilled with it.

I hope that happens to me! I have this feeling deluxe would be so wonderful. It would be awesome if I stayed there and didn't feel it!

I really think I would like CBR better than POR just because I am more of a beach/island person than rustic. Just personal opinion but being a family of five limits me.

Hubby and I are actually booked into POFQ. But we have always stayed at the WL. The WL is just home to us. We spend quite a bit of time in the evenings sitting in the lobby in front of the tree or the fireplace or out on our balcony. That place just works for us. :goodvibes But when I was surfing for prices and realized that We could stay at the POFQ for about $900.00 less. Well......that is alot of $$$. And I feel like we would be very happy there. From all of the pictures we have looked at the place is very pretty and serene. But and it is a big BUT......... The WL is just our Disney home. Our trips are no longer commando. They are very layed back. Yes, I make all these plans. But they aren't followed to closely. The planning just keeps me sane between trips. So......we will be staying at the WL after all. I think each family has to do what works for them. From Pop to the GF. As far as I'm concerned there is no "best". Its just all Disney. I hope my ramblings made some sort of sense. :rotfl:

Hi to all of my November 2012 Friends! Sorry I have been MIA lately. A bunch of things came up regarding our trip which I was trying to figure out. I also started a part-time job outside the home. I have been a WAHM for 3 years so having to leave the house for work feels weird at the moment.

So for a little while our November 2012 travel dates were in question and it looked like we were going to have to change dates but we couldn't find anything that worked. DD is in high school and plays soccer and basketball. She doesn't want to miss sports and we don't want her to miss any more than 2-3 days of school, tops. DH is not a Disney lover (yet) and he hates heat so refuses to go in the summer. That made me sick over planning for a little while. actually canceled our ressie for Poly CL:sad1:

So after many conversations with my family we have come back to the conclusion that our original November dates are the best option we have, not perfect but the best for everyone. So we are on for planning Disney for November 3-11, 2012 :woohoo:

But now I need to rebook and I don't think we are sticking with Poly despite my love for it. I just can't justify the cost at this time. So now which resort:confused3

It gets SO difficult with sports! My kids are much younger than your high schooler, but my son plays football and my daughter plays travel softball. From April to October we refuse to vacation. Our kids are young enough right now that we decided to take them out of school instead (how is that for Mother of the year LOL!). I know once they start middle school our dates will be even harder to pick. Right now we try to find a week that we have a chance to have the most days in Disney and with driving. And our best chances at free dining!

As for where to stay, let us know what your choices are...I love helping others plan their trips :)

Deep breath and have a few of these. :grouphug: Instead of thinking about the go, go, go of Disney. Think about the relaxing part with your family. Maybe that will help you narrow down your choice. :goodvibes

Just about same as us. Just not sure if we will arrive 23 or 24 :)

You know I have always been good with 5 full days in Disney. I never really understood wanting to stay longer than that at one time. Well, I'm starting to understand. This trip will be 6 1/2 days. And I wish I could push it to about 10. But we probably won't be able to do anything longer until we hit retirement. And with today's economy.......when does that happen? :rotfl:

I'm older than both of you. My kids are grown. But I was always a believer that family time was very important. It didn't bother me in the least to take mine out of school for a few days in elementary or middle school. But once they hit high school it was just to difficult on them to miss school and sports. So I unerstand the juggling that has to be done.

Thanks! Regular soccer season ends the last week of October and basketball starts the week after Thanksgiving and ends in March. So November or April/May would be our time to miss sports. DD's school will definitely be closed the 8th and 9th of Nov. next year and possibly more days that week so it seems like the best time. However, she threw a wrench in it for a while with a lot of what ifs. What if I make Varsity next year and what if Varsity makes the play offs??? The play offs are the 1st-2nd week of November. Finally I just had to say that there will be a million what ifs no matter what but these are the dates that work best so we are sticking to them. I will purchase insurance and if by some miracle she ends up starting Varsity and they are in the play offs she said she will choose to stay home with her grandparents. I would feel terribly guilty but she told me not to because she has been to WDW twice without her bro and will go back for her senior class trip in 2015. She also said she would rather go back to Turks and Caicos or Jamaica than to WDW which we will be doing for her sweet 16 so she seems content either way.

All that rambling is just to say you are right. the older they get the tougher it is to plan, but I also have a toddler to consider and I really want to bring him to Disney.

Thanks so much! The reason we are booking a longer stay is because DH told me he wants time to relax and I told him if it's a 5 day trip then it will be commando style but if we stay longer we could relax more, lol. We will be there for our 5th wedding anniversary:love:

The two resorts I am considering right now: POFQ and WL. Decisions...decisions. The family originally agreed on WL. Then I spent too much time on the Poly thread and jumped the gun on the Poly CL booking. Now I am back to reality and leaning towards WL but I also like a lot of what I'm hearing about POFQ (compact, boat to DTD, access to POR facilities as well, moderate pricing looks good too).

I loved Poly CL but with 5 of usnow(baby didnt count before) and one child counting as an adult, I cant justify the $8000 I could go 2x for that amout! On the other hand, I loved deluxe. Thats why this ti,e we are trying POR. I CAN NOT stay at a value. Not saying they are bad, just not for me-esp the theming- so we will meet in the middle and stay at a MOD.

I told DH athat our next trip I wanna stay at the WL during Christmas time  That would be the best!!!! Has anyone ever eaten at Whispering Canyon?

I have yet to even visit WL but if that rustic feeling is what you like, you may love PORFQ plus think of the savings! The savings does it for me every time LOL!

Where in NJ do you live? I'm in NJ as well :)

I wish I could snap my fingers and make a tried and true answer appear. You'll get it though. I have faith in you.:goodvibes

Many times and we love it. :goodvibes

Savings works for me everywhere ..... but Disney. :rotfl2:

We've stayed at WL, AKV, POR (when it was still Dixie Landings), ASMo and my grandfather's house. Each had their benefits & drawbacks. We go every other year with a smaller trip somewhere else on our off years. This year was Washington DC & Gettysburg.

I have a list of what I want from our hotel room. Fridge & microwave mainly - bfast & leftovers. When we stayed at ASMo, I did a fridge swap. The amenities at the deluxe resorts are great, but not necessary for our vacation. We'll be back at AKV because our son loved seeing the animals everyday. It is a studio, so there will be a kitchenette.

I think it really just depends on what works for your family, which is a great thing about WDW :wizard: We are just the three of us. Five would probably be much different. When my cousin goes with the 6 in her family, they plan & organize much differently than I do. I have a friend with 6 in her family. They camp at Ft. Wilderness in their RV each year. I think it is great to have all of the different options. :goodvibes

Maybe you could narrow your choices for 2013 and take a detour or two while you are there to check out the options in person?
