November 2012 Code Watch!!

The year we went, the meal was served family style, similar to their skillet option, but included turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and sweet-potato fries. I think there were other meats included in addition to the turkey, but it has been so long that I cannot remember the precise menu. I think many restaurants modify their menu to offer a traditional Thanksgiving meal on Thanksgiving day.

That's sounds great. Thanks for the information.

I was wondering about the change in dates for Southwest flight bookings, and I found this online:

In the Nuts about Southwest blog, Bill Owen, Southwest's lead schedule planner, offers some more insight into the airline's process on release dates: " … We publish our schedule and allow bookings only up to about 180 days in advance … After we publish, we let the clock tick down " … until we have about 120 days worth of inventory left to sell, at which point we publish another block of schedules and push the inventory back up to about 180 days. On rare occasions … the inventory can drop as low as 90 days, and on even rarer occasions we'll have more than 180 days available." Owen also noted that new schedules are generally released at 10 a.m. CT on Thursdays.

It looks like they were booking their existing inventory of flights slower than they expected. Kind of interesting.

What change in dates?

Also, IMO, that explanation does not make a lot of sense when other companies already release flight info for November/December

Tell me, since we have gotten the SW credit card, and we will be flying Southwest, Has anyone ever flown with them? We always fly Airtran and I hope SW offers nonstop flights to Orlando in the morning hours. AND can we lets say fly Airtran on the way down to get a morning nonstop flight and Southwest on the way back?

I usually fly Southwest out of BWI and have always been able to get direct flights in the morning. I love no baggage fees with SW, and have had to cancel trips before due to illness - SW doesn't charge any change or cancellation fees and just gives you a credit to use on your next flights. Once I had to cancel just a few hours before our flight and it was no problem. I love this! You can definitely book a one-way flight with your points, so should be no problem.

However, their rates have really gone up, so although I have Rapid Rewards points in the bank, I am saving them for next trip and flying JetBlue out of National in November. It's going to save us $150 each!

That's exactly how we looked at it. We were doing Dulles with Southwest, but they are limiting direct flights, plus the costs are going up, and since we do not have to park at National (having someone drop/pick us up), we figured doing JetBlue would save us the money!

Flights for November were supposed to be released in May, but now won't be released until early June.

The point is that Southwest releases flights differently than other airlines. They wait longer to release flights, opening up new flights only when they have a certain amount of inventory remaining.

On other airlines you can book much further in advance, but there may be adjustments to the flight schedule or flights cancelled due to under-booking as you get closer to the flight. This is something you don't see too often on Southwest.

It's not really important - I was just wondering why I had to wait so long to book when most other airlines had already released their flights for my travel dates. And I wondered what internal system had caused them to move the date back.

I've seen on the SW thread over on the Transporation forums June 4 and June 19. Don't know which one is correct.

For us it's the distance that is a big deal. SW operates out of a local airport for us which is only about 15 to 20 minutes away. Jet Blue OTOH, operates out of two international aiports and both are about an hour or so away. Since we are leaving Thursday, November 29, we would have to deal with heavy Long Island rush hour traffic getting to the aiport :headache:

We have 3 major airports within an hour or two of our home and I have been diligently checking on flights out of all of them. JetBlue seems to be the cheapest right now but I'm going to be waiting for SW to post their schedule and prices before I book. If SW comes out with similar prices we will definately be choosing them because the cheapest flights with them are normally the closest airport.

When looking at the JetBlue website, I noticed that they have TV at your seat. Does anyone know if this is for everyone or just First/Business class? That would be nice to help keep a 4yr old in his seat :happytv:

I'm sorry - I didn't mention that! I received a card in the mail from Disney Destinations - it's a tri-fold card about 10 " x 16 " big and it looks like a game board. It was personally addressed to us and referenced that we were planning a trip for November, which is what I have been searching/saving on the Diz website for the past month or so.
Well that's cool!!! Thanks for sharing!
Okay...as everyone...well any one who was paying attention to my posts...LOL...knows that I was freaking out about coming during Thanksgiving. My family and I have discussed it and I think we are going to move our trip to November 8-16. Staying still in a 1br OKW villa...but I feel much better about it. My college age daughter will have her trip cut a little but still be able to spend 5 days there...and with the lower crowd levels...I think see just as much OR MORE....so happiness all around!!!! :rotfl:

Still have to make the actual change...but that is what I'm doing....I think!!!:lmao:
I think that would work great...that's our week too- we have a couple of days where certain parks are busy, but we just avoid them and the other parks are great...by Tues it'll be calmed down!
I feel so warm and fuzzy :goodvibes. It's a flyer with a board game theme. And it's for my dates! It's 30% off rooms at value, moderate or AKL/WL for 11/1-11/16 or 11/24-11/30.

I know the codes seem to go out to random people, but I ordered park maps and put on the form that we were going in November. I also just cancelled my June trip so I suspect all that added up to get me on the list. Though I was hoping for free dining, at least I know I'll get something.

Congrats!!
Contemplating if maybe I should book a trip and then cancel it :lmao: what we will do for a PIN!:rotfl2:

Good Morning!

Something to consider though. If Southwest comes out with prices you do not like, or flights that are not good for you, in that time JetBlue might have upped their prices for a flight you are looking out

It happened to us. I had to wait for Betsy to change her license finally with the new last name, and I wanted to wait to make sure what I had on her ticket matched, and by the time she was done with it, the flight going to Orlando changed from $95 per person to $146 per person. Now it is up to $169. The way it works is as they sell tickets, once they sell all Alpha Priced seats, they go to the Beta price, and so on.

We flew them in 2010 and all the seats had TVs in them. You just have to either have headphones or buy theirs.

Well back from the Uro. I have to have a hydrodistention done on 5/21 to confirm but he is positive I have Interstitial Cystitis :( I guess its good I know whats wrong now.

I know this is slightly :offtopic: BUT it does concern those of us planning trips in November...

I'm not sure if you guys have heard yet or not, but Test Track is now not slated to re-open until....December 1 :scared1: .... :scared1: This news makes me  :sad2:

NOOOO! I am so disappointed. We are going to ride it for the first time. :sad2:

I tried that already. I booked, cancelled, order maps, saved vacation offers, ordered planning CDs....and NOTHING! :confused3 I give up! I think I'm on a banded list or something. :rolleyes1

Today my oldest child becomes a Disney Adult. It just occurred to me that I was planning on buying her a child's ticket, so I'm glad I haven't gotten hers yet!

Ahhh... happy birthday! :goodvibes

I am still struggling to plan our itinerary. DH is no help...with his "I don't care. It's up to you" attitude.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Broncobilly, it was because of one of your previous posts that I even bothered to check JetBlue, so thanks very much! BTW, I am in Myersville, so hello, neighbor.

I am glad you know what it is! I don't know what all that entails, will have to look that up!:rotfl: Hopefully he can get you fixed up soon!

Mommyof3......Like the others I'm also glad that you have an answer.

Have any of you done the Richard Petty driving experience? The one I am looking at is the Rookie experience. Hubby is a big Nascar fan.
