WELCOME to our cruise my parents!!!! AlreadyexcitedGrammy and DH will be joining us too!!!!

Greetings,

I am new to the board and this will be our first cruise -- but we are booked and extremely excited. In attendance will be my hub and I and DD10 and DS9 (at time of cruise). I was excited to see postings for this cruise this early.... I'll be staying tuned!

Also, not really sure how to use all these cute things :) so the colon paren will have to suffice!

scorpio -- WELCOME!! it is just so exciting isn't it!

my DD will be 9 just shy of 10 during the cruise -- she LOVED the kids club when we went last dec (age 7 almost 8 then) and both my DDs are very excited about our cruise!!! the cruise board is a fabolous wealth of knowledge! don't be shy to post with your questions

there are a couplel great sites on DCL if you haven't found them yet - PM me. I bought the Passporter and found it useful as well and am already reading it for our next cruise!

i hope some thanksgiving cruisers of this year will save their navigators for us to read for the first/second CC day and thanksgiving as well!

again - WELCOME!

Thanks for the Welcome!!

Actually I was thinking way too far in advance :)

my DD will be 9 just shy of 10 (Dec 17) and my DS will have just turned 8 (Nov 2) which is one of the reasons I selected this cruise so that hopefully they get in the same group... it is the only month we have that luxury....

I do have my Passporter already and have read it over and over...

I do have a few questions so I'll get you off the side..

Thanks Again!

my DDs will be 8 almost 9 (dec 25) and slightly over 13 (Aug 11)

how embarassing! i guess we already have something in common ;)

Hi Mellissa, and all the gang for the 2005 Thanksgiving cruise.

Well its 2 days till we'll be off for a fun filled very much needed Vacation at the Mouses' House. I can't wait.

Besides a very hectic schedule at work, my DW (Mary) father is very ill. He lives in North Carolina, We just returned from there on Tuesday, and it looks like we'll be going back down again soon.

So pls all pray for him so maybe he'll get better real soon.

Melissa, I guess your kids are all back in school by now. Alex, DGS,
doesn't return until September 8th. So that's why we're going down now.

Densis (Denvick) is at OKW now, and maybe we'll meet up with them while down there. They come home Tuesday.

Anyway, good hearing from you and welcome to all our wonderful fellow cruises.

Hey Kenny,
Have a great trip to the Mouse House. I hope Mary's dad is better. We're thinking of her.
My kids start back to school on Monday. Shawn & I are going to the Happy Haunts Ball in October for a couple nights. So we wil get to pop over to the Food and Wine Fest at Epcot. Whoo Hoo. I love that. By the way, our Mickey and Donald comics are in the parks now. Look out for them. If you look in the front cover you will see my name as Director of Creative Projects.
Have a blast. Hope you find Denvick!

Thanks Melissa,

Latest word from N. Carolina, (Mary's dad), is he's doing much better. Even went out today and got his hair cut. So it seems everyones prayers have helped.

Will definitely look for your Comic books. Do you know where they are being sold. Would like to pick some up.

Getting alittle nervous about next weekends weather but I guess Guston is more of a concern right now for you. With Hurricane advisories being issued for S. Carolina and the storm track heading up the coast.

We fly into BWI airport tomorrow and then onto Orlando. Southwest is great flying and Islip airport is only 5 minutes from our house.

Good luck with the weather. Talk to you when we return. We're taking a laptop with us and the resorts now offer high speed internet so everyone is happy. So we'll be able to check our email accounts.

Kennyk

Hi Kenny.

Glad her dad is better. You can look for Donald Duck Adventures (its in a digest form) or Uncle Scrooge or Walt Disney's Comics and Stories (comic book form) in many of the shops, but I remember that you can find them upstairs in the Virgin Megastore in Downtown Disney, the Animation Building store (next to Playhouse Disney) or the coffee/book shop next to Sci-Fi Dine in Theatre in MGM. They are supposed to be getting put in more and more places. Let me know what you think of them. The WDC&S and US titles are the collector's books, but we also do 2 standard format comic titles which are 2.95, but they are too inexpensive for Disney World. We have a Christmas Parade title that will be in the parks soon as well.
Have a great time! Tell us all about it.

HI. I'm bumping us to the top and making this thread easier to find. Hope you got home ok. So sorry you had to weather Frances. Update us on your trip when you can. Missed ya!

Hi Melissa and all our other fellow cruises.

Well I'm back from the "Wonderful World of Disney" and Hurricane Frances.

Spent 36+ hours in our hotel room (1 bedroom Villa) at Saratoga Springs during the Hurricane.

Disney parks were closed Saturday and Sunday. There is alot of tree damage all around the grounds of Disney property. Buildings look undamaged except for the Fareway Villas on the grounds of Saratoga Springs (phase III) of the development area.

On the evening of Sunday we were notified that the restaurant was going to open up for dinner. They had Mickey, Stitch, Pooh and Eyore there for the evening, they also played Disney bingo and Disney triva games. We won at Disney triva.

The resort is fabulous and makes me think of adding on.

The Disney cruises ended up docking at Fort Lauderdale as Port Canaveral was closed. The ships finally docked on Tuesday from what I understand and Vero Bch was to open on Thursday.

There is wide spread damage especially along the coast and now major flooding inland. We saw many homes with tarps on their roofs and screen porches blown apart. Spoke with one cast member was was staying at the villas during the storm and their home was in a shamble. They didn't know when they would be moving back.

Just encase anybody was wondering, Disney did not offer us any discounts or extras for our inconvience. I was happy just to be able to extend my stay for the extra nights Sunday, Monday & Tuesday. I had heard and encountered many guests having problems extending their reservations.

If you have any additional questions, I'll try to anwser them.

Again happy to be back at home.

So happu you are home safe! Glad you were able to ride out the storm. We are going to the Happy Haunts Ball, just Shawn & I, in Oct. I hope all the big storms are gone by then.

Missy

Hi Missy (I like that nic name),

Anyway enjoy your stay, never went to that function. I'm not much into dressing up in custume. What resort are you staying at??

We really liked Saratoga Springs and are thinking about adding on. Right now the incentives for DVC members is pretty attractive.

For your info the two comic books I picked up were.

WD "Donald Ducks Adventures" , No. 5 in the upper right corner and Walt Disney Comics, March No. 642.

They were in the Disney Art store in DTD.

We're now think of going back to WDW some time in April to catch the Flower and Garden show. Checking Alex's school schedule, to see how it fits.

Take care and enjoy.

:scared1: EEEK! Costumes??? Oh I'm not dressing up for this. Am I??? :rotfl: I'm just going for the Limited Edition stuff and to meet some of the artists. I guess I could go as Cruella De Vil, that might be fun. :p
Anyway, we are staying at the Contemporary. I would love to see Saratoga Springs while we are there. What incentives are they offering?
I hope you liked our books. Its been really hard to get the circulation up and out there. Disney has lots of hoops you have to jump through. But slowly but surely we are gaining. And our Uncle Scrooge won a Wil Eisner award for best childrens selection (forget the exact title, have to check on that)

I just realized I didn't proofread my last post very well, so once again.. I am HAPPY (not happu) you are home safe!

Say hi to all.

Missy

Hi Melissa,

Contemporary, I haven't stayed there since early 80's on a gold plan. The best.

Anyway, There is an open house at Saratoga every day between 5-7 pm, Congress Park Villas, Room 2607, 2nd floor building all the way on the right.

As far as incentives. The way I understand it and I have to call my guide to confirm, is, if you buy 130 pts you can have 2 annual passes + if you buy into phase II can't use pts until late spring 2005 you get an additonal $10 off/pt. Right now I belive Pts are selling for $95.00.

If you finance it through Disney the interest rate is something like 9 %. with 10% down.

That is the way I understand it but am going to check it out further to get a better clarification.

I thought The "Ball" you were going to was something special like a Holloween Custume ball sponsored by Disney but then again I've heard about it but never really looked into it to see what it comprised of.

Well anyway have a great time. I see we have no new takers for our cruise. I was reading a post today and have you seen the new deposits that Disney is now requiring on all future cruises.

They've increased the deposit on cat 3,2,1 to $500/person and they are requiring you to pay off the cruise by 90 days before sailing instead of 60.

There are other changes also for the lower cats 4 -12 but not as harsh.

They claim this is being done to cut down on the last minute cancelations.

Anyway Take care and be safe.

Hi Kenny...Just wanted to stop by and say Hi. We met on the Southwest flight into Islip on Wednesday, and were sitting across from each other.

Feels good to be home.

Joanna

Hi Joanna,

Thks for stopping by on our cruise meet board.

I am glad life is getting back to normal. Work has been really hectic since I got back, but what's to be expected. Was away in NC for a week visiting my wife's father who was in the hospital and then returned for a few days and went on our extended 10 day vacation. Needless to say all that missed work just piled up.

Hope your future cruises go well and maybe you can join us on ours in November 2005.

Take care and nice meeting you. Always great to meet other DIS'ers.

Hi, my name is Sharon and I'm actually crusing on 10/2 and while onboard was considering re-booking for the 11/05 Thanksgiving cruise, so I did a search and found you guys.

This trip would be our third Disney cruise (me and 2 dds) and a celebration of my 40th b'day. Haven't made a final decision yet, but it looks pretty good that it will be this week.

Has anyone cruised during Thanksgiving before, do they do anything special and is the ship decorated for Christmas yet?

Welcome Sharon,

Hope you are able to join us on this Magical cruise. This cruise is a Western and has two days at CC. One on Sunday and another on Friday. Key West is removed from the itinerary as there is a boat show going on there which uses the docks.

Many of the Dis members sailed on the Easter cruise this year and have rebooked for Thanksgiving 2005.

Since this will be my first Thanksgiving cruise I really can't answer your questions. If it is anything like Easter, The menu was the same with a few added entres. They had the Easter Bunny and candy for the kids. Don't know what they will have planned for us on Thanksgiving.

Enjoy your forth coming cruise and besafe with this horrible Hurricane season.
