Thank you so much for pointing me in that direction. I will take a look at it some time tomorrow. Time to tuck the kiddies into bed :-) Yes, with a family history of skin cancer, and me already having suspicious cells cut out of me, I am not taking any chances. I am always wearing board shorts (the long ones not the short girls ones). Never thought to get a rash guard. Another good alternative suggestion. Thank you so much! Maybe I can find a cute new set for the trip:-)

Ok everyone.... had a BIG computer issue and lost all the info for the people who were participating in the FE. If I could trouble you to resend to my PM. Need the following:
DIS Name, actual names of all participating, kids ages and gender, cabin number, if there are allergies.
That should do it. Thanks so much.
Let's get the chatter going!!

Tracey,

Sent you a PM. Thanks again for doing this!

I think I've figured out my gifts! I did a trial run on Sunday and am dying to get to work on them. I'm a little bit frustrated that I'm going out of town for a couple weeks, so I have to put my crafting on hold, but my mom said she'd help me sew my fish extender while we are visiting her, so that should help me get my DCL crafting fix! (Geez, how's that for a run-on sentence?)

Finally got a break in the heat here in Dallas, so that has been nice. What's everyone else up to this summer?

Hi everyone :wave2:
We are down to 120 days til we sail :yay:. What is everybody up to. Thinking about what to pack? Any excursions? All you first time cruisers, what are you most looking forward to/excited about? All returning folks, what are you excited to do again/or for the first time?
No packing here yet, however I have been working on my FE gifts. After having done this exchange a few times now, I am hoping that I will downsize what I am doing, but let's be honest, it doesn't happen :)
Not planning on any excursions this time. We are flyign into MCO on Friday night (after the DS's get out of school) and will be staying til the Friday after the cruise. Not planning on the parks, but how I do love DTD and people watching.

Any platinums out there staying up tonight with me? Just going to go for Palo this time and maybe a cabana, but we have other families traveling with us so we all won't fit.

I haven't announced this yet, but I'm doing a vow renewal on this cruise and my DH and guests don't know about it yet. I can reveal here because they are not on the boards. The guests traveling with us besides my family consisting of my brother, his girlfriend, my mom, myself, DH, and 3 DS, have never cruised Disney before. So we're 4 months out and I haven't really done anything for the VR. Any ideas how to surprise everyone with it. I had wanted to leave passport invites for the guests the day we board. I had told them to bring a nice set of clothes for Palo. Once I find out my time, need to ask them to block out time during Nassau. Don't know when or how to tell DH-our anniversary is Sept 23rd. Would love just to see the expression on his face tellling him the day of or when someone leads him to the Outlook. He would be totally floored if I waited til the day of. He wouldn't be expecting it since it's our 17th anniversary. I had hinted for the 10th and 15th anniversary. The cruise didn't start out as a VR. We had it booked and then my brother and mom decided to come along. Then friends joined in thinking it would be great, then another family added on. we just had one add on 3 months ago. I booked this in July of last year. When 4 families added on in August I decided to call Disney on a whim just to see if the date was available, and both Nassau and Castaway were available. Since there are so many first timers, I didn't want them to lose precious hours at Castaway, so I opted for Nassau day.

As far as FE's go-I normally always participate, but in this instance I don't think I can with everything else going on and this being a short cruise.

I do need to get crackin on invites, programs, magnets, emabarkation bags for guests, and deciding on favors. Don't want to go overboard, just a nice keepsake. Anyone have ideas?

We are interested in doing fish extenders, but I don't have enough posts to send a PM. There are five of us: DD Devin (7), DD Camryn (5), DD Kaycie (3), DW Jennifer, and DH Dan. We will be in room 7116. Thanks for organizing this!

Even though I booked our trip way back in Sept. 2011, I'm just now checking out this thread. I didn't want to even start thinking about it because it just seemed so far away. But now I'm starting to let myself realize that we are going on our first cruise in November. It will be the 3 of us and also my mom and my best friend, who my son calls Aunt. 3 separate rooms though. This is a new thing for us, so I'm excited to hear everything that you guys have to say.

Time certainly goes by fast.... You will have a fun time for sure!! Are you having connecting rooms? Always a bonus to have an additional bathroom handy. Glad to have you joining the fun. Check out the links about the FE's and see if you may be interested in joining.

We do have connecting rooms. And I totally agree on the extra bathroom thing. One of the main reasons we did it that way. I'm reading up on the FE's. Thanks.

LaRae we only have 4 families signed up so far for the FE. Not many at all. Not sure if people aren't reading the post yet or some folks just haven't gotten into the planning yet. The past month I have been having a difficult time, my mom passed away suddenly. Right now between going thru this very hard grieving process we are also in the middle of having some remodeling done at home. Our kitchen and upstairs bathroom have been stripped down to the studs and I am going crazy!

No question that by the time November gets here, I am going to totally need to do some serious relaxing!

We are arriving the Friday before the cruise. Our flight is out of Boston at 4:30 (just enough time to get to the airport after the kids get out of school). Staying at OKW for the first time so we are excited for that. Anyone else arriving early? If so where are you staying and/or what are your plans? What about after? We are staying til the day after Thanksgiving.

Haven't put any thoughts into FE gifts yet. I have made some mistakes in the past on what we have done, so I hope that this time I don't make them again.
Tracey, so sorry to hear about your loss. Please know your in our thoughts.
We are arriving a bit early on 11/16 and staying at Wilderness Lodge and plan to check out the Fantasyland expansion at MK on 11/17.

This will be our first Disney Cruise. We will be staying three nights after it in Disney World to Enjoy Mickey's Christmas celebration. I will be joined by my DH (for his 40th), my DD (12) and DS (11) at time of cruising. We are also celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. We can't wait. The kids are so excited for the Aqua Duck. I am as well. We can't decide on what excursions we want to do, but we have plenty of time since we don't get priority as it is our first cruise. We are DVC members and it is our first time using points for this. I burn really bad so I am trying to find something that allows sunscreen. Any suggestions?

Looking forward to on board entertainment, rotational dining, etc. The kids are excited beyond belief as it will be their first time ever on a ship.

I may want to do that fish extenders thing if I can get further information. Do I just bring gifts for people to put in those pouches? where do I get a pouch? Is the gift by age, family or what? Sorry for all the questions.
Supernaturalmommy - we are in good company, I am celebrating my 40th birthday and our 15th wedding anniversary. My DH said he would never do a Disney Cruise, see what happens when I beg and plead. :rotfl:

Missed it by a couple days but less than 100 days until we board the Disney Dream!!!!!!!!

:cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

I can't wait!

Very cool! Happy Birthday and Happy 15th Anniversary! I am lucky that my husband has always been interested in a Disney Cruise. We just couldn't ever figure away to afford one (or didn't think we could). I haven't visited this thread for a while. I am always on one of the pin threads when I get a notification, but I need to get cracking on this as I want to do fish extenders.

I'll send the PM to the person who requested it again. Need to re-read the info about them.

Still trying to figure out our before the cruise plans as I want to come early and not have to fly in crack of dawn day of...

Also need to get cracking on the excursion info as it is almost time for us to be able to book. We did book some meals at the park... a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and a dinner package for guaranteed admission to the candlelight processional at Epcot on Friday. Bummed I read the dates wrong and won't be able to go to Mickey's Christmas Party. Looking forward to the Osborne Family light show!

You will LOVE Osborne Lights, it is amazing!

Our cruise is getting closer, yeah!! :thumbsup2
I bought a Fish Extender today and need to get working on gifts.
Anyone been to Castway Cay? Is it worth doing excursions or should we just relax on the beach? If an excursion is worth it, any recommendations?
Can't wait!!! :woohoo:

I need to re-read this whole thread so I know what type of gifts to buy age wise. Or should I just go generic - meaning family oriented, no age specification...

Saw some fish extenders on eBay that were nice. Wish I could sew my own. Have no idea where to start. Have fabric and sewing machine lol...

Melissa,
The times we have been to Castaway Cay we have only done the sting ray excursion. I don't think we would do it again, but it was something to do. We are really not beach people so we usually stay on the ship that day now.
Tracey

Also a reminder.... if you are interested in doing the FE, please PM me your names, kids ages and cabin number and email address. I will email a preliminary list the middle of September to all those that have replied. I will post here that it is going out so you can expect it. So excited to leave for this trip. Really needing a vacation!

Anyone done Atlantis in Nassau? My daughter is dying to go there. DH not so much.

Forgot to attach some of my information for FE so I will re-PM you. Sorry about that.

Was at the store today and saw some new Disney items at a great price. Couldn't resist and bought a few bags worth of stuff for FE gifts. I have no idea what we need or who for yet, but I may as well get started. I can always return it if I don't need it.

Found a great custom Fish Extender of eBay I may buy. Contacted the seller about characters. We'll see how it goes.

I noticed photos of decorated doors. Is that common on the cruise?

This is our first cruise...any ideas for excursions on Nassua or Cast away cay??? We did the dolphin swim at Sea World two years ago and we have have done the stingrays before. I have a DS15 and DS10.
Also we are staying at Disney Vero beach after the cruise for 3 days, we thought we would hang out at the beach but it doesnt look like there is much else to do there any ideas???
