Goofystitchfan- I sent you a message with all my FE info. Thank you for organizing it.

My kids are so excited as it will be their first "cruise boat" vacation. They really don't know what to expect. I can't wait to spend time with my family. My sister and her family as well as our mom, brother, and niece will all be cruising together.

What are we most looking forward to?? My dd (12) wanted to do the Dream for the AquaDuck. We live in TX and Disney will soon sail out of Galveston, but that wouldn't do for her, had to have the AquaDuck. Think my DH is looking forward to the balcony room. As for me, Castaway Cay and a good book. Hope to really enjoy this and soak it all in. We will also stay on board in Nassau as we have visited the port already.

Can't wait! :yay::yay::yay:

Hi everyone :wave2: thought I would just check in. Our thread has been very inactive so I thought I would give it a :wave2:.
Reminder for anyone wanting to participate in the FE, please message me your cabin #, names and ages of any kids. If you have questions about it, please feel free to ask!

So excited for our first cruise!!! So many questions thought I would come check out the disboards first and as always have found so much great info!

Hey, Tracey! Thanks again for organizing the FE group. Can I ask how many people you have signed up so far? I'm hoping to sew my FE next month while visiting my parents. Then I would like to get started on my FE gifts while I still have some time to call my own this summer.

What is everyone else doing to get ready for our cruise?

Hello everyone. I booked this cruise so long ago that I kinda forgot about or atleast I tried to. Now thats its getting closer I'm getting excited! On top of that I got a free dinning pin for my pre WDW stay. Yay. Hopefully this thread will start to get more active the closer we get to sailing.

Have you been on a 3 night before? I'm wondering how many people get off in Nassau. We are planning to stay on board that day. My mom is worried there won't be anything to do & I'm worried too many other people will have the same idea.

We stayed on the boat in Nassua last year and it was great. Plenty of activities during the day but many did have the same idea. We still had a great time and we don't plan on getting off this year.

LaRae we only have 4 families signed up so far for the FE. Not many at all. Not sure if people aren't reading the post yet or some folks just haven't gotten into the planning yet. The past month I have been having a difficult time, my mom passed away suddenly. Right now between going thru this very hard grieving process we are also in the middle of having some remodeling done at home. Our kitchen and upstairs bathroom have been stripped down to the studs and I am going crazy!

No question that by the time November gets here, I am going to totally need to do some serious relaxing!

We are arriving the Friday before the cruise. Our flight is out of Boston at 4:30 (just enough time to get to the airport after the kids get out of school). Staying at OKW for the first time so we are excited for that. Anyone else arriving early? If so where are you staying and/or what are your plans? What about after? We are staying til the day after Thanksgiving.

Haven't put any thoughts into FE gifts yet. I have made some mistakes in the past on what we have done, so I hope that this time I don't make them again.

Goofystitchfan, I'm so sorry for your loss.

I will be joining the FE exchange but I have to look up my stateroom number. We are spending three days at Pop before the cruise. My original plan was to the parks after the cruise until I got a free dinning pin code.

This will be our first Disney Cruise. We will be staying three nights after it in Disney World to Enjoy Mickey's Christmas celebration. I will be joined by my DH (for his 40th), my DD (12) and DS (11) at time of cruising. We are also celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary. We can't wait. The kids are so excited for the Aqua Duck. I am as well. We can't decide on what excursions we want to do, but we have plenty of time since we don't get priority as it is our first cruise. We are DVC members and it is our first time using points for this. I burn really bad so I am trying to find something that allows sunscreen. Any suggestions?

Looking forward to on board entertainment, rotational dining, etc. The kids are excited beyond belief as it will be their first time ever on a ship.

I may want to do that fish extenders thing if I can get further information. Do I just bring gifts for people to put in those pouches? where do I get a pouch? Is the gift by age, family or what? Sorry for all the questions.

Tracey, I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. What a time to be remodeling. I'm sure it will be worth it when it's all done. You will definitely deserve some rest & relaxation by November!

We are planning to leave DFW on Saturday, late morning, and are booked at the Sheraton Four Points Cocoa Beach for Saturday night pre cruise. Hoping the weather will be nice enough to at least play on the beach, if not swim. We are staying post cruise at Wyndham Bonnet Creek through Sunday. We just decided to surprise the kids and stay Sunday night for MVMCP, too! (Shhh, don't tell!) We weren't able to add a night at WBC, so we will be at Holiday Inn Lake Buena Vista on Sunday night. Whew! Sounds like we're going to work hard to have fun on our vacation!

Wish we could have gone pre cruise for free dining. This is our first time to stay off-site and I'm a little nervous. The Bonnet Creek thread on the Resorts Board is making me feel better, though.

Not sure what you're looking for that allows sunscreen?

This is our first cruise, too, but as far as I can tell, you do what you want/are able. There are a few threads on this board about making fish extenders and gift ideas and I found some info through googling. Some gift ideas naturally tend to be family gifts and some tend towards men/women or boy/girl gifts. I think the point is just to spread a little pixie dust and get to know some of your fellow cruisers.

Looking forward to getting to know you all a little better as we gear up. Less than 5 months!!!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1:

I am sorry to the person who's mom just passed away. My husband's sister passed at age 31 a couple weeks ago. I can't imagine losing one of my parents. My thoughts are with you.

The sunscreen coment was because everything I read that has any sort of fish/dolphin/sea lion animal encounter doesn't allow sunscreen. I HAVE to wear sunscreen. My mom's dad and both her siblings have already had skin cancer and I have their complexion. I also already had pre-cancerous cells cut out of me. The person who we booked with at DVC was the first to inform me of zero sunscreen rules for a lot of the excursions in order to not make any sea creatures sick. I understand the rule so I am looking for stuff to do with the kids where I can wear sunscreen.

I will try googling fish extenders and looking it up more on this board. I just joined here a couple days ago and there is so much to go through. I installed the app on my phone for portability so I can spend more time here.:-)

Oh, and I discovered yesterday my big ****oo. I had my dates wrong when I looked up MVMCP so when I went to buy the tickets yesterday I found we won't be there for it :-( Now I need to talk to DH to see if we want to extend the vacation or go a little early so we can attend.

We're not planning any excursions. We learned last year that on the 3 nighter, were always too busy trying to do everything on the boat that we can in three days. We dont care for Nassua at all so we just stay on the boat.

Sorry I'm not much help with the sunscreen question but I'm sure you'll be able to find something. Have you looked at any non DCL excursions?

No. We were hoping to just stick with Disney. My kids are dying to see Atlantis so maybe we will just hit there in Nassau. Everytime they see a commercial for the place they go nuts. My husband and I have cruised in the past but not with Disney. We LOVED doing excursions and didn't do anything on ship. I am sure that will be different with Disney. But my kids really want to see Castaway Cay as well. My DD is a little fish and is in a cast for the 2nd summer in a row following surgery last week and last year so she will be wanting to make up for it. I want to be as informed as possible. I can't believe I never knew this forum existed but I generally don't have time for forums so I guess that explains it. Once upon a time I lived on forums but life changes and now priorities are different. I am grateful to have found this place.

When we did the sealion excursion, sunscrean wasn't necessary. We had wet suits on and we were under some sort of canopy thing. It was more confined than I think the dolphin is. Just an FYI, it is also less expensive (it was $99/pp) and you can still see the dolphins from the doc and roam around and use the beach at that place too. CC you can definitely use sunscreen, however not sure if you are to do the stingrays there if you will be able to.

Thanks for the info. The stingrays was recommended to me by someone who also burns like me. She said she never had a sunscreen issue, but the DVC agent told me when I booked that I couldn't wear it. Wetsuits sound like a perfect alternative, and I would love to do the sea lion thing. I have done a dolphin enocunter before (on my honeymoon) and got FRIED. My kids will probably be too afraid to do the dolphin encounter, so maybe I will investigate the sea lion option. Thanks for the information!

Oooohhhh, now I get it! I have to wear sunscreen at all times, too. I'm very fair and have a family history of melanoma, so I totally understand. We aren't planning to do any of those types of excursions, so I hadn't even thought about it. I do remember when we went to Xel-Ha in Mexico a few years ago, there was a special kind of "fish friendly" sunscreen they wanted you to buy & use. Or look into a "rash guard" shirt with a high UV protection.

There is a "sticky" thread at the top of the Cruise Line board called "Sticky: *** DIS DCL FAQ - New Alphabetical Listing of DCL Information ***". You can find all links from there to all kinds of questions you never even thought of asking! :rotfl: I haven't cruised with DCL before, so I found plenty to read there. And, of course, ask here anytime!
