November 12, 2011 - Magical Double Dip!

WE HAVEN'T STARTED YET!!!!! :scared1:

Love my hubby, but...the packing has started --- 2 suitcases for the 4 of us + we each have a backpack for a carry-on!! We're spending a night in FL on Friday night so I'm struggling on what to leave out for who...I always tend to pack TOO much...I'm determined to not do that this time...I'll pay for the laundry service if needbe!

Happy packing everyone!!

Hi--

We're the Jillsons:

Patty
Mike
Cassandra (11)
Caroline (7)

We came upon the notions of Disboards and fish extenders late (first heard about from a fellow gymnastics mom on Friday), so we won't be participating in anything with you. But feel free to swing by Rm 2512 to check out our decked-out door complete with a family flag made years ago at a Girl Scout family camp weekend...and one-of-a-kind Disney magnets that my kids hope to craft this week before we sail!

We're looking forward to a fun-tastic cruise! (This is our second sailing--first was aboard the Wonder to the Bahamas in 2010.) See you aboard.

happy monday everyone! we spent the weekend up in cocoa beach for an airshow, very windy and cool and rough seas 12-14 ft we are back home in palm beach 2 hrs south, and seas are still 13-15 ft here, so lets do some serious praying this weather calms down the weather service says this weather is gonna be here till thurs so for everyone flying down early just FYI....
weather is overcast cool for floridians ( temps in low to mid 70s)

sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I know a lot of u are flying in early, you may want to prepare the kids that they won't be able to go in ocean.... a lot of beaches are closed due to waves and erosion....

as for packing :rotfl::rotfl2:

haven't even started I always wayyyy over pack (see what happens when you drive and have no luggage restrictions) (and i am married to a pilot go figure)

I picked out 2 long formals this weekend and i have to short semi formal then my other cute dresses for dinner.... we will prob have for 3 of us, a garment bag suitcase, 2 large suitcase, 1 medium suitcase( toddler supplies-diapers,swim diapers, blankets books etc) a duffle for FE stuff and a carryon with snacks and wine and camera and misc.......oh and a duffle for shoes!! I bring a lot like 4 heels, 1 sneaker 2 flipflop, 2 sandals, then my daughter will have 4 pair of shoes also i guess my hubby can fit his 2-3 pairs in there!!:goodvibes:rotfl:

like i said I pack way too much, :rolleyes1

to the family of NICO--------

please put some type of bag or stocking outside your door on the fish hanger, some more magic may be coming your way!!!!

to everyone else----- remember on the FE list you are on that list so don't count yourself!!! (I made that mistake last year)

DOnt forget to bring ZIPTIES to secure your FE to the the fish so it doesn't swim away... we will try to bring a couple extra if anyone needs them....

Omg firefly great idea about the zip tie! I overpack too but you have a toddler so it is ubavailable. Yesterday i went to Macy's to buy a bigger carryon (24 inches) but bought a 25 because it was cheaper and then realized when got home may be too big for jetblue so need to exchange it today! Also need a hoop earing for pirate night (claires).

I didnt post yesterday b/c Sam was up and full of energy at 4 a.m. !!!!!!

Disneydteamer thanks for the update! And was it you who posted about the tiedie Mickey head tee shirts? They look great I was thinking of doing some but I don't want to if you are doing them?

I ordered mine from zazzle last night ( my order had been in limbo for weeks as the site wouldn't process it and I tried several computers) I paid for two day shipping I hope they are here by thurs nt.....):rolleyes1

We are starting to get the family cold but am hoping to kick it by Friday)

Its countdown time :thumbsup2 really getting excited. According to the "Weather Channel" we should have 80's mostly. Chance of showers maybe in Grand Cayman, I usually have a throw away poncho with me just in case:rolleyes1.

Print Door Magnets, finish packing, put wine carrier (for stop on our drive from Mco to Raddison Hotel at the Cape) 6 bottle pouch in carry on :drinking1, double check documents (passport, cruise letters, rental car and hotel info) and I think I am ready :cool1::cool1:.

Its going to be great to meet all of you, can't wait.:goodvibes:goodvibes

Well, we've been in WDW since Thursday, and its actually been really chilly! I'm looking forward to some warmer temps while on the cruise. Today is actually looking nice and warm here, but the clouds are still hanging out.

My son is getting killed with the warm to cool weather and we are currently sitting in our room doing a breathing treatment, :sad2: Poor little monkey is fairly congested, hopefully we will run it out of his system today.

We introduced the kids to pin trading yesterday, and that may have been a bad idea. We don't seem to get more than 20 yards without having to stop a CM. I just ordered a lot of pins off ebay and had them shipped to the resort to give them some trading ammo for the rest of our WDW stay and the cruise, :rotfl:

Odd question, does anyone know if they sell bottled water on the boat other than Evian? I'm a water snob, I hate Evian, :snooty: And I drink alot of water, but I can't recall what the ship tap water was like. I don't drink soda, so I will either have water, or some sort of adult beverage in hand, :cloud9:

Jbwork I am so jealous you are in wdw. I hope the little monkey feels better soon, as least you thought ahead to bringing a nebulizer. Re h2o, I buy a case at the grocery store with my case of diet pepsi (hate coke) put sticker on them and give them to the porters. I haven't had a problem. I was hoping to get my kiddies started on pin trading but I was afraid to do a bag of pins b/ c I didn't want fakes and one pin I ordered was a fake. Who did you use?

And a big shout out to Roz from our party who just became a first time Grandma on Friday!

Baby, Faith Lorraine princess: A future Disney Chixer.....

I heard they have bottled water, I'm not sure what kind, but we're getting a case of water to bring on board with us!!! :thumbsup2

Good Evening Happy Cruisers!

I figgered we'd get MORe posts the closer we got to cruise day. Instead, we seem to be getting fewer. Is everyone SO busy PACKING you can't post?

Yes! Packing for this cruise is harder than packing for anything else! We had to pack twice a month for 11 months when we were going back and forth to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, we should be pros!

Do the wave phone work room to room?
yes, and house phones do too. (that is the phones in the elevator lobbies and so forth - you can call wave or room.

hope you're all better by sailaway. One of my group ordered tie dye mickey head shirts from someone she saw at a craft fair. My fingers are crossed that they are nice.

When trading, I always bought my pins off ebay, but started with a few and ended up buying several lots over the years from the same man, since he always did right by me. Unfortunately, he seems to not be ebaying any more or I would surely recommend him.

The ship made tap water is fine - virtually tasteless. I have taken bottled water in the past, but don't any longer. I don't like to lug stuff.

And a big shout out to Roz from our party who just became a first time Grandma on Friday!

Congrats to Grandma Roz and all the baby's disney aunties.

I HOPE this is a lot more FUN!

We're in Savannah tonight and I'm so tired I can't even tell you about the day. Hope yours was a good one. ZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Okay, we're down to the crunch. 3 suitcases for 3 of us, and 3 carry-ons. I was told it would be okay to not bring the kitchen sink.

As first time cruisers we're really not sure of what "extras" to bring. I've scanned the threads and picked up a couple of pillow cases and markers, and made door magnets (DW had a lot of fun with what we have planned for our door).

Can anybody offer any last minute suggestions for things to pack which most people don't think of until they get onboard and say "Oh, I should have brought that? I'd hate to get there and say "Oh, I wish we'd have known that or thought of that". Items such as an extension cord, etc etc.

Gift Exchange Info

Meet & Greet in the Promenade Lounge Deck 3 at 3:00pm on Embarkation Day!!!!
We will meet in the Promenade Lounge at 3:00pm before the muster drill and sail-away to get to know one another briefly, put names to faces, and for those of you who would like to participate, we will also have gift exchange! If you are participating in the gift exchange please be in the Promenade Lounge no later than 3:15. We will begin drawing names at that time!!!

Here's how it works:
Each family will bring a small gift to represent the area they are from, aka their hometown/state For example you could bring something from a local store like maybe a trinket from an artist in your hometown or if you are into sports bring something to represent your favorite home team. Last cruise on DCL, the gift I received was from a very sweet lady from Texas, she brought some local spices & coffee, along with a little Texas BBQ cookbook. It was really cool! It's just a simple gift nothing extravagant, that is unless you wanna give me a free cruise

No seriously just something light and fun!!

At the meet & greet, I will have name-tags to hand out where we will put our DIS name along with our real name, so that we can identify one another easily Then for each person or family who has brought a gift, when you come in find me, I will be handing out some lei's & up at the bar looking like I am in charge : Also I'll be wearing a name-tag At that point I'll write down your name & put it into a bowl/hat for the drawing part. I will also jot your name down on a list of who is actually participating in the exchange. That way everyone who brings a gift will receive one in return You hang onto your gift and have a seat, get to know some other people, have a drink, just relax : )

Around 3:30pm, which should give everyone enough time to mosey on down, we will begin the exchange I will call a name from the list and that person will come up pull a name from the drawing pool and exchange gifts with the person whose name they have drawn.

Very simple lots of fun and it ensures that each person who brings shall receive And no one is pressured into bringing something, it's completely up to each family, but please do come and hang out with us either way!!!

Can't wait! It's gonna be sooooo much fun!!
