November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

Just what "pirate" excursion are you speaking of? :confused3 Sounds like FUN! pirate:

I just heard on CNN that gas and guilt are keeping people close to home this holiday weekend. We are clear across the country and that statement holds true for us as well. :guilty:

Did go to Wal Mart today with DD and she had no idea that much of what I was buying is for our cruise! Even scrapbook-type decorations to flavor up the stateroom door! :rotfl: HEE-HEE! She has such excitement in her near future! :goodvibes

I have to tell you all that going to Wal Mart is a love/hate thing.....I feel like I am in another world sometimes. I feel like I am amongst the patrons at the STAR WARS BAR! :guilty: :rotfl: :guilty: :rotfl:

There are, however, a fair amount of DISNEY items there....for cheap....so it keeps us coming back. :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Sorry to stereotype, but at least in this town, Wal Mart is a "different" sort of place! :wave2:

Disnurse,

I too went to walmart today. It is a Super Walmart and you can not beat the price of their frozen food. It was CROWDED. I too have seen many a character from the Star Wars bar. Some that look scarier the AWOLTODAY's avatar picture. :goodvibes

We're booked on the Lord Sheffield "Pirates of St. Maarten day cruise". I'm sure I'll be forced to walk the plank, which is probably deserved after the ruckus I've caused here! I could only find one bad review and that was a simple scheduling snafu. Here's a good thread on cruise critic: Lord Sheffield Review

BTW, I'll be touring different wal-mart locations around the country over the next month as a part of an equal rights for star wars freaks movement. I look forward to seeing you there!

awoltoday-the more of your posts i read, the more i think you and my husband will get along famously :)

Must agree with my DW. Plus I hear that AWOLTODAY is a Diver too! Looking forward to meeting you.

In my area we have about 5 walmart close together. Everyone there seems normal but the prices are different for some items. Now is the time to shop the discount racks

I think, that I will book this one and forgo the car rental. I guess with some of the money that I have saved, we can do this one. Now I must buy some under water cameras

Wow! Guess I had never really paid attention to that excursion....now you definitely have me thinking! I want to research more but if any of you want to chime in help me know more....go for it. :cool1:

Do you think there is still room available? Leaves at 11am? I love that! That's part of why we are booked on the Golden Eagle already....I DON"T want to rush around that AM little a chicken with its cut off. :earseek:

You guys are too funny about Wal-Mart......we are relly bad at work. The other morning I was getting report on a new little premie. The off going RN said, "this is their 5th baby and the mom works at Wal Mart" ;) enough said. :rolleyes1

Okay....update...just searched DCL website and I cannot find this excursion anywhere? Are you guys booking it separately? :confused3 Is it true that snorkel gear is NOT included? Thanks :flower:

not on the dcl site-go to www.lordsheffield.com. the price is 60.00 per adult and 30% lower for each child under 12. we booked yesterday-they respond very quickly to an email. the website gives a lot of good information. in our email respnse they said they provided snorkle gear.

My wife and I have a love/hate relationship with Wal-Mart. Love the really low prices, hate the fact that all the employees there are clueless. We save 40 to 50 dollars there when we food shop but we always leave the store grumbling about how much we hate going there.

And to top it all off I work at a Wal-Mart distribution center :guilty: . I have been there for eleven years :faint: . I so wish that corporate would slow down the expansion plans and work on the "customer service" and "shopping experience" within the stores.

You guys are right about the "Star Wars Bar" thing. My wife and I are constantly shaking our heads at what we see in our local super centers, WHAT ARE THEY THINKING????? :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

Oh well,

Frank

it's strange-we heard about walmart for years but there were none to be had anywhere around us. now like most places they are sprouting up like...starbucks :goodvibes there are a lot of cities around here fighting to keep them out, but walmart has been the best addition to our little town. we have only 2 grocery stores-one is just icky, and the other is safeway (nuff said? way overpriced) it's been great to be able to run close by to pick up stuff for school projects and the like. our store is in the process of turning "super" and should be completed by christmas. it will be nice to see some savings on groceries (between grocery prices and gas prices i honestly don't know how a lot of families manage to get by :guilty: ).

we stopped at sams club after church and my son and I went around and ate at all the little food stands. The wife just laugh at us but we ate pretty good.Good food and good prices what more can you say? for a $1000 we can charter LordSheffield

if a lot of us end up on lord sheffields i have visions of a CNN Newsbreak:

"BREAKING NEWS-PASSENGERS MUTINY ON PIRATE DAY CRUISE"

According to St. Marteen officals, passengers aboard a pirate themed day cruise have overtaken crew members and commandeered the ship. Lastest reports show the ship traveling on a direct route to Disney's Castaway Cay, with adult passengers chanting "more rum punch" and children "mickey, mickey". No crew members have been reported injured in the scuffle-they have however been forced to wear lime green bracelets bearing the rouge passengers credo. Although confirmed identification of the passengers has not been secured at this time, CNN has learned that the leader of the group may have military ties in that he is being refered to as "AWOLTODAY". It is rumoured that the passengers have made several fond references to a possible co-conspiritor located on another ship "Palo".". :rotfl: :rotfl:

25 people at $40 we can charter this ship and have our own dis cruise! Then if we wanted to take the ship, it will be easy. Any takers? We can have a dis meet on the ship :confused3 :teeth: pirate:

do they only have dis'ers booked so far for that sailing? or would we be bumping some other folks already booked :guilty: ?
would it be identical to cruise they already do?
if there are enuf of us it would be great, a an awsome savings ($15 per adult and only $3.00 more per kid). how would they arrange it financialy?

if we can pull it off, we are currently booked for 2 adults/2 kids so that would take the total needed down to 21... :bounce:

We are back from our week with the Mouse. No lines but lots of heat. The line to check in yesterday was out the door so everyone was coming in for the weekend. Haley had a ball and decided that the castle was "Haley's Castle". We have pictures on the disneyphotopass website so if you would like to see send me a PM for the password. Haley got kissed on the forehead by Snow White and then by Alice in the parade. It was magical! :wizard:
We are trying to decide wether to just fly down next time since gas cost us over $120 just to get home. We can switch our tickets that we were supposed to use for CA for a total of $150. Seems like a no brainer huh? :teacher:
I just checked our dining time and it says Late 8:30.... 8:00 would be better - 6:30 would be even better, but I'm not going to worry about it. I checked the availability for Palo's and only Saturday night was left. We'll just worry about all of that when we board - I know they had lots of opening last time we sailed.
I watched CNN every afternoon while Haley napped in horror. It made me so sick to watch those people crying for help. I'm not so sure everything is being done that can be done in a very quick manor. I will be donating some of Haley's baby clothes this week.

You guys i feel sick there is only one thing that will make me feel better its a disney cruise. lol hold in there everybody the cruise is almost here :Pinkbounc

OOOOOoooooohhhhhh! That sounds like so much fun to book as many of together on Lord Sheffield's.....I guess that name in of itself is what made me not pay attention. If it was entitled "Party Cruise Full Of Disers with a Pirate Theme".....then I may have paid attention! pirate:

Tell me more about this excursion if you will!

I will search what I can....but how, may I ask, did you hear of this as an outside excursion and how did you do your research? How do you get there? Is it long transit? How could we make sure we are all together? :confused3

Big question .......does snorkel equipment come with the gig? We are not bringing any! Too big and bulky and not worth it to us.

About Wal Mart.....I am embarassed sometimes to admit I even shop there to co-workers, friends, etc. I have observed just recently that the TOOTH TO TATOO ratio is quite high during my shopping visits.

........a couple of teeth to LOTS of tatoos! :rolleyes1

Hi folks - Good :sunny: Morning and Happy Labor Day....to All.

We spend Friday-Sunday at WDW and I see I have few posts to catch up on.

First, returning home, our two tall Queen Palms are no longer. The hurricane killed one and lightening another. Still I have walked past theme ach time I entered and left the home since we moved in.... :sad2:

WDW was great :earsboy: . The drive up :moped: was one of the worse I have had - it was raining :umbrella: and the traffice was very unusually bad. Not just traffic, fast traffic I can take, but speed up, slow down, jam together, for no reason. Gas proces of course are high, 3.19 at WDW for high test the day we arrived....3.18 the day we left ???????

It was pouring so we skipped the firewords and went to Boma for dinner --- anyone want the details, let me know and I will post. It was yummy. Stayed at Pop Century - great Fla. rates this time of year...

Saturday we were up to see the Kindgom....hint - go early - at 11:00 it is crowded. We saw Stitch - inperson - and the ride...The Pooh ride whcih replaced Mr. Toad, we had never been on it -cute. And Pirates of course. The stage show Cinderellabration and of course, the castle decked out for the 50th - Wonderfully beautiful.

Then it was over to Epcot to meet some of the folks on our May Cruise Ha a long lunch at Rose and Crown...then to Pleasure Island for the DVC members party - too loud, didn't stay -- so we went to Coronado for a respite during the rain....sat at the bar and relaxed before returning to Epcot -- had dinner at Morooco - did some sightseeing etc and hit the hay. It was pouring again so we skipped Wishes. I love Wishes - :cloud9: but we had seen it and my ankle (badly torn in March) was ready for rest.

Sunday we were up early for church - then to Marketplace for shopping (T-shirt for the pet sitter...) and to the yacht Club to meet more folk for our May Cruise, Couples and kids from Tampa, Daytona and West Orange.....We took Spacecraft Earth - Sorain' before returning home....,

no trees outside, still sad.

So, that is what DH and I have been doing.......

This is the fun post. The next one will be sad....

The sad news fron New Orleans continues.....

[QUOTEi saw on the news last night that carnival cruises was sending ships to house people-so do they just have a bunch of extra ships? or are they canceling low booked cruises?[/QUOTE]

Two of the folk we met were returning from the Pannama Cruise. They had fellow ship mates who were fron NO and "lost everything". They were glued to the TV or weather channels on the net - nothing they could do.....We also heard that there was one Carnival ship that left out of NO and was at sea when the hurricane hit - it was returning with passingers who are mostly from NO and would stay to house resure workers....perhaps those who were slated to go are scattered......Those who have lost tickets, and believe me I would not like to give up my vacation, but this has affected the entire county and that is their gift - they will not cruise because the ship is needed. Perhaps some can be re-routed to other destinations....

Dis Nurse said -- how if we were in the situation our pay would presumably continue (govenment employee and retiree) but all those folks whose work sites literaly no longer exist!
I cannot imagine....I expect if you are in a shelter with nothing but hand me down clothes, things take on a new priority????

When we go to WDW we normally have one rule - NO TV, NO NEWSPAPERS, NO RADIO, only the mouse and relaxation - we have broken the rules at times...when Columbia explored, the morning Hussain was captured and this weekend, so much devestation. Our local media had donations everywhere. DH's store takes matching donations at the register as does the grocery stores....The NASCAR race devoted much of its commerical time to donations...The County is pouring out generous donations....
