November 12, 2005....7 Night Eastern...Who Else?

I saw that too! We were in 20 foot seas last November on our last night on a Southern Caribbean cruise. It was pretty wild. When I was pregnant with Haley I was on a Carnival ship escorting a group and the seas got 25 feet - that I don't ever want to see again! You can't walk - you almost roll out of bed! So no more storms for me!

C&D&F - so glad you got power back! The hot shower must have felt awesome!

Love the ticker === still waiting for the hot shower - posted first - silly me...

and it will be a bubble bath -- a glass of wine and a book....ah....life is good.....

while i am thrilled for cd&f's doc dance-i am far more elated that they are safe, secure and have ELECTRICITY & HOT RUNNING WATER! (ahh, the little things in life-a nice hot shower to clean off the muck from repairing the house :goodvibes ).

HAPPY HALLOWEEN ALL-i'm sure with the time difference many of you are answereing the door as this is posted. when you post tomorrow let us know of any "costume trends" you noticed among your visitors (i suspect we will see alot of "incredibles" at our front door).

We are done - what with the warnins about the storm debris that was going to rise up and grab the little kiddies. We had far fewer trick or treaters and all had parents or much older siblings. The neighbourhood was taking safety seriously. Let's see - we had ONE pirate - early on, I laughed, and one pirate lass. Several ghosts a few flower girls, one devil, a couple of old fashioned hobos, Tinkerbell, - the lights were blazing in my eyes, I could not see well......

Now, it is almost bath time - Bath - remember that - it is best enjoyed with Hot water......

We had a Cinderella, doctor, mime, firewoman, Snow White and black cat. Everything else was either bizarre or didn't make a lasting impression!
Haley was Minnie Mouse - so cute! She'll wear it again on the cruise just for fun! ::MinnieMo

C&D&F - GET IN THE WARM BATH ALREADY! pirate:

our candy caldroun is near empty (would have been long ago if our kids had not tossed their unfavored candy into it) so the lights are out and our "mr. spock pumpkin" is in the trash can. we had lots of ninjas and devils, a few superheros and princesses, the standard stuff. my favs were "a slim jim", "salt and pepper shakers"-but the top winners, 2 toddlers with blue sprayed hair as "thing 1 and thing 1"-mom waited at the curb in her "cat in the hat outfit" :teeth:
i think tonight will be a "late niter" for me, i want to get all the bills made out that must be mailed while we are gone, and set up the ones that can be done on line at a future date.

tomorrow is dh's bday (38-still a baby), so the big surprise will be made known to ds tomorrow nite :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

Wow! How are you going to tell him? I think I remember you mentioning you were buying some things to help the revealing?

I want to hear all about it!!! :cool1:
I LOVE  surprises, ya know!

I had a very special day, one of those that makes you realize what REALLY is important in life....I got to wheel up one of our prized premies (in his isolette) to the hospital chapel and be a part of his baptism with his parents and 10 yo sister. :grouphug: Such a great feeling!....and makes up for all of the emotionally icky days at work.

And the best part was........!!!!!! I actually got my alloted breaks today so I was able to enjoy the DIS boards here and there! (that icon, BTW is the "eye rolling" icon).

......even at the Center for Health and Learning (yes, a designated area to take a break :earseek: ) where there are many computer terminals for use by employees and visitors, they have blocked LOTS of sites, including the DCL webpage. I tried to check my booked excursions. Oh, well......it looks like DCL last I looked might have just recently increased some of their fees for excursions?

Is anyone else watching the weather on accuweather with bated breath?
I really hope :sunny: we get clear skies!

"the plan" is that the last gift dad opens will be a box which contains a new t-shirt from the disney store wrapped around the cruise and land docs. there will be a card from "mickey" saying that since has had to work so hard this last year he deserves a special 2 week vacation with his "3 favorite people-your choice" :earsboy: he's going to realy play it up...name every one from the cat to co-workers to ds's favorite teddy bear, start naming off the attributes of a good traveling companion (wears more than just yu-go-oh underwear when lounging around the room, shares the t.v. with others :rotfl2: ). it should be entertaining (and i may have him put in writing anything he "promises, cross my heart" for future reference/blackmail purposes) :) . i will post an update to let you know how it goes.

computers for the public/break time staff to use at the hospital? HOW NICE! i would have loved to have been able to use one when dd was snoozing during her stay last may! i can imagine for folks wanting to update loads of friends and family about a patient it could serve as a much better means that using the cell phone (and trying to find a place it's o.k. to use/even gets a signal). they might have blocked the dcl site because it has the level you can go into that is unsecured (once you enter your password and resis. number), it seemed like these were the type my former employer blocked (not that they were any too bright; when the "i love you" virus was about to hit they did nothing, sent out no forewarning to anyone CRASH GOES THE SYSTEM! along with some personal systems where folks had set up certain emails to go to their home p.c.s ).

i wonder if dcl is increasing their other excursion prices to make up for all of the cancelations on dolphin encounters due to the bad press? we never had a desire to do one, when we cruised dcl to cozumel years ago we saw the conditions the encounters were held in and felt so bad for the dolphins (somewhat bad for the customers who had shelled out big $$$ for a realy nasty looking set up).

cd&f-how was your "tubbie"?. this time next week i imagine dh and i will be having our regular vacation "battle of the bubbles"-i like bubble baths and it's not my fault if ds sneaks into the bathroom at the resort and hits the jaccuzi jets when i'm filling it  but then noone around here likes the tubs i make-SCALDING HOT!!! (thats why we opted for cast iron tubs-holds the heat longer).

night night all.

Good Morning Ship Mates - Do we really cruise in 12 days? Wow - oh Wow - time to buckle down and get packing - seriously..... :cool1:

OK - Can't wait to hear the story of the surprise unveiling -- Barkley - we are all ears....... :earsboy:

Disnurse - how nice for you to be present at a baptisim....Don't know if I ever told you that I was able to work with premies during my college days - it was a program for non-majors - I was famous for finding those courses....Anyway, my favourite was the homecoming when the babies returned to the hospital. "In those days", premies that lived were rare and much to be treasured (the rare part has passed but the treasures remain). :goodvibes

Bath - Glorious Bath - it was Wonderbar! :cloud9: Tonight will be even better as we will have a full tank of hot water and I will have a great tubbie....... Last night, we only had one hour for the heater to fire up.........

The remaining refresher dive was cancelled due to the storm. Not sure if I can fit in one this weekend. DH says not to worry, he will just take the descent slow and I'll be fine. I'm great once I am under......and Blue Island seems very well organized.

I think work will be getting back to normal. Yesterday was so slow, still many governnent offices are closed.

The roofer is ready to roll as soon as we get permits, and that may take a while....But first, I need to select a colour for the shingles. I don't like any of the selections....So I think I shall go with Green.....not DIS green, but green anyway.....What do ya'll think?

Laundry - I can do laundry!!!!!!

OK - Now where is Lake Worth Dad? Are your guys up and running too?

I need a jump start to get back into cruise mode - so - what is everybody doing to get ready for the cruise?

Also to get over the sadness of looking up and not seeing the branches outside the window that used to house the morning song birds. That one will grow back - we are feeding the birds regularly to make up for thier lost habitat....I hope they stay.

So I sent the list out and C&D&F email came back undeliverable. Since I copied and pasted what she sent I am assuming her email server is down as well. So C&D&F.... when you get back on here send me your email again so I can resend the magic list!

Both servers are up.....I will PM you the e-mail address.....

Barkley your surprise sounds like so much fun! My boys got a postcard from "Mickey Mouse" on Saturday saying "see ya real soon" and loved it!

C&D&F...so glad things are getting turned back on for you....you'll have an awesome hot tubbie tonight!

Even though it rained nonstop drizzles last night, we still had 75+ trick or treaters. My parents came over to give candy out while we took the boys (under umbrellas) through the neighborhood. The best I saw was my little 1 yo neighbor and his little 1 yo friend dressed up as Batman and Robin...they were both plopped in the wagon and had no clue what was going on, but they were adorable! After we got home (and of course after we had sorted the candy likes and rejects) we all took a precautionary dose of tylonol before bed!

Happy days to all!

Good morning all!! I am alive. Things here have been crazy. Mom & Dad came down Friday to spend the weekend. We hadtheir 40th anniversary dinner celebration Saturday night at the Wrigley Mansion (a home built by the gum family many years ago that has been turned into a place for events with some of the rooms being used for serving dinner to larger parties). So, we had a private room with a great balcony that overlooked the city lights. My brother's family & Chris & I splurged & rented a limo for all of us. That was great fun. None of us had ever been in one (besides a funeral).

Sunday was spent running around & then yesterday was kids school parties & trick-or-treating. I was lucky enough to convince my two to go as pirates, so I only had to buy one set of costumes! Princesses, Darth Vader, Power Ranges appeared to be pretty popular around here. Our candy bucket is more full now than it was when we started. But, the Great Pumpkin visits our house after a few days. The kids are given the option to leave their candy out for the GP to take. In its place, he leaves a treat. Sometimes a good book, sometimes a new movie, whatever strikes his fancy. This year he has Cinderella & a Thomas movie waiting for the candy decision. The kids have never chosen to keep their candy in the 3-4 years that we have been doing this. Then houseforsale willtake the candy to her office candy jar :)

I'll try & get the post count up by going back several pages to catch up and respond to your conversations (I'll choose to not respond to DISNurse's stalker).

OK, I'll start; I'm fluent in sign language. I have never taken a sign language class in my life, nor has my sister, but we are both nationally certified interpreters. Our mother took a sign class at church about 30 years ago and it allllll snowballed from there.....My sister & I grew up around deaf people due to our mother's volunteering efforts in the deaf community. She even founded the deaf center in Pensacola 20 years ago.

That is SO neat! Awol used to work with a deaf guy, so he took a couple fo work sponsored classes to at least be able to communicate. I have an aunt that is fluent too. Me? I know nothing!

I always burn muffins on the bottom only. :confused3

I can completely relate! I can cook some of the most complicated recipes, but I CANNOT make garlic-type bread while doing anything else at the same time. I always pop it in & completely forget about it until the smoke detectors remind me......

Wow! Took me a while to figure out what happened. All I can say is "whatever". We'll move on...

Can someone give me the details of the postcards and wine from your home state? I told DH about it today, and could not give him any particulars. Date? Time? Place? I guess I'm not paying attention. I'm too busy worrying about ALL that I have to do to get ready for the cruise, and have not started any of it yet. :cool1: 2 weeks will go by VERY fast.

I'm not sure if anyone has responded to this yet. I didn't see it in the few posts following it. The postcard exchange will happen at our first meet on Sat at 3:00 at the Walt Disney Theater. Everyone is bringing 30 postcards from their state to share so that the kids get a little education on the trip :). Some people are signing the back, others have added some pieces of info about their state.

I don't think that we have decided on the wine/chocolate date/time yet....

So, while I realize that we are late on the ball on this, but did you all book this tour privately or as a group? Is there still room? We decided to do one excursion and after much researching, I have decided this is the one I would like to do. (It also helps that it appears that this is NOT a Disney sponsored excursion and that my 4 y.o. son could go...most other excursions of this type thru Disney start at age 5)

We all happened to book individually on the same non-Disney excursion :) Last I checked, there were 21 in our group. Give them a holler & see if they have room. We are excited about this one. Our DS is 4 too & I'm glad he'll be able to come along (we wouldn't have booked it if he couldn't).

And where the heck are Choc_marg and awoltoday? I know......really busy putting the finishing touches on his scary self....ready to scare the pants off the cute little trick or treaters come Monday night!

Until later.......enjoy the extra hour of sleep everyone! :cloud9:
Or should I say, to those of you in the country who celebrate such a thing depending on your time zone?

Thanks for noticing! Made me feel loved ;) By now you know where we were. BUSY!! No extra hour of sleep for us. With a very small exception, AZ doesn't do daylight savings.
