When we arrived at the terminal on 11/13/04, there was Christmas Balls and Garland hanging from the Mickey hands up near the ceiling......and a beautiful tree.
As the week went on, there were more and more decorations including garland all over the atrium lobby.
The ship is beautiful at Christmas time.....

Hey GrayFal....just read part of your trip report as part of another thread about things you didn't like and I LOVED your list format and all of the great info on what to do, what not to do, and things you wish you had done! :cool1:

Thanks for the great tips....I have a less than two month countdown to our first DCL experience on the Magic....yup, it's true....haven't even been yet but we are already booked for a second trip with you guys! ;)

Thanks again for the insight.... :flower: DIS NURSE :flower:
Your welcome!
Here it is.....
Thinks I am glad I did ::yes::

Joined the Cruise Meet Thread – With much trepidation, I posted on the “Cruise :grouphug: Meet” thread for our cruise. I mean, how do I know these people aren’t axe murderers? This actually became our DIS Group Mantra – because ya never know!?! My one concern I had about cruising with just DH was who will we be seated with at dinner? Thanks to the Cruise Meet Thread, I met not one couple but a whole group of people to ‘link’ with for dinner….we like each other so much, we have 2 more cruises planned!!! So don’t hesitate, take the plunge and see what happens……if they ARE axe murderers – pretend you don’t see them after the DIS Meet….. :cool1:

Upgraded to a Verandah – this proved to be a :cheer2: WONDERFUL experience – as we had 3 days at sea and time to relax. I am an early riser and DH is not – so I was able to be ‘outside’ without having to get up and out of the cabin. I also liked being able to go outside at ANY time of day or night. I don’t know if I would get one for a 3 day as there just isn’t much down time but would for a 4 day with a day at sea. Since I slept with the curtain open, I always had a FULL ocean view. I wouldn’t take a stateroom with a solid metal verandah as it blocks so much of the view. If I couldn’t get a ‘regular see thru” verandah room, I would book a large porthole room over a metal verandah room anytime.

Canceled my High Tea Resies – by Thursday, we really needed the ‘unscheduled’ time. We packed a lot of fun in the past 5 days so wanted to relax our last day at sea. We also tended to eat lunch a little on the late side (2:00-3:00) because of our late seating dinner so the Tea at 3:00 just wouldn’t cut it.

Didn’t buy the Rain Forest Pass – I planned on purchasing this for Tom and I and thought the price was $49. When I arrived on board, I found out it was now $75. I hesitated more because I was annoyed at the 50% price increased! As the week progressed, I realized that I really didn’t have any extra time to lounge in there. We really enjoyed staying outdoors by the Quiet Cove Pool. I don’t think I would have been able to drag DH away from Deck 9, anyway.

Ordering 2 appetizers – I was a little hesitant at first but this is something we really enjoyed – allowed us to try different foods in small amounts! Several times I enjoyed my appetizers more then my main course.

Room Service Coffee and Continental Breakfast – Glad I read about this on the DIS boards. It was so nice to use the door hangtag each night and decide when to have it delivered. This was a very efficient system – if we chose 8:00-8:30, it was always there by 8:05 – a really nice way to start each day.

No “Planned” Excursions – We decided to do the Islands on our own and it was a good decision for us. We like to snorkel :fish: and we were able to do it on our own in St Thomas. On the other hand, it could have been a disaster – when we arrived at the car rental place, one agency had NO cars and at the other, we got the last car! Also, it is very difficult to park at Coki Beach – there were only about 10 spots and we got one!!! So that could have been very disappointing. I think for the future I will do my ‘homework’ a little more thoroughly.

Get a manicure/pedicure – this was a relaxing, almost 2 hour service for under $100 – I felt it was a good value for the money and a nice spa experience.

Have lunch on Deck 9 – we only went to the dinning room one day for a buffet lunch – too much time! (edited to add that the food was nicely served in Parrot Cay and was good - actually, we went the day of the asian buffet that was also served at Topsiders just 'looked' so much nicer - Topsiders was a 'madhouse' - very crowded, no place to sit - NOISY - just not pleasant in ANY way) It was so nice sitting outdoors and eating near the Quiet Cove Pool (edit-with food from Pluto's and Scoops - never had the pizza from Pinocchio - not a pizza lover except gourmet from PALO). We went to Topsiders once felt like we were in a school cafeteria and couldn’t get a seat – so no more chances for that..LOL. How do they make those ‘drawer’ hamburgers from Plutos' taste so good? (Edit - try various 'toppings' like guacamole on burgers, YUM!)

PALO Brunch – Loved it!!! It was really nice being in PALO in the daytime…there is a beautiful panoramic view from this room.

PALO Dinner times 2 – Again, loved it. We skipped Animator’s Palate both times…not my favorite place – no windows! Our first dinner as a couple was just okay….our server did little to enhance the experience and forgot our pizza order (luckily we had already been there for brunch so knew this was a fluke!) …but the second time with our DIS group was truly outstanding.

Things I wish I had done :sad2:

Got off the ship sooner at Castaway Cay – we really dawdled around and by the time we got off, took a few pictures and did a little shopping, it was lunch time. I never did get to snorkel :fish: there as the water was cool at Serenity Bay Beach and it was then too late to go over and snorkel at the Family Beach snorkel area. (the weather had gotten cloudy and cool :earseek: )

Seen more shows – we always seemed to have something else to do! I will definitely make time to see at least 2 BIG productions and go to the ‘adult’ entertainment a few nights as well. This time we only went to Golden Mickey’s and the 80’s :rockband: Time Warp Show. I will also consider matinees for the ‘big’ shows when we are at sea, frees up the evenings.

Wander around the ship – there really were so many beautiful areas to see and photograph – wish I had done more.

Take the Bridge Tour – why didn’t I do this??? Hmmm…definitely next time!

Use the Spa Showers – Didn’t realize you can use the showers and sauna in the locker room at the spa even without a treatment – more spacious and great products….maybe I shouldn’t mention it here, either….shhhh.

Spend time on Deck 4 – Actually, you couldn’t spend time there – the seas were so rough. Spray was constantly wetting this deck. But I will TRY the next time, as it looks so wonderful!

Go to The Cove Cafe - DH is not as big a coffee fan as I am - but after seeing some pictures posted with the fabulous drinks :drinking1 - I'm there! I never even stuck my head in to check it out,,,,why not? We spent a great deal of time on Deck 9 at the Adult Pool - can't imagine why I didn't even go in...LOL.

Pat...what a wonderfully thoughtful list! I loved it...thank you!

And, yes, since this is our first cruise ever and we're not extremely outgoing by nature, I am a little concerned about "axe murderers." Well, not literally and not necessarily through the DISboard, but I worry we won't have anything to chat with people at dinner OR that my normally fairly well-behaved children will choose 6pm at Lumiere's to melt-down at a table with a honeymooning, child-phobic, or children-are-better-seen-than-heard couple...I have my fingers crossed for patient tablemates...I've read some people pre-tip the CMs...Can I pre-tip tablemates to insure their patience??? :earsboy:

Ok, I know we'll be fine, but I still worry....

Carolyn

Dear clynne....I , too, have that fear and therefore we will linking dinner reservations with other DIS'ers for my our upcoming cruise in Nov, 2005. :sunny:

It will get a little trickier to do so, though, if they are stilling doing the new rotating dining. Early diners either get seated at three different earlier timers (can't remember specifics) and late diners get seated at one of three different later times. Still should be able to link ressies with families with similar aged kids. Food is not a huge entisement for our kids (6 and 8) so I am already planning on feeding them early either at our table or "out" somewhere else and then OFF TO THE CLUB/LAB THEY GO! :rotfl2: So many people have posted that this is a popular and totally socially acceptable thing to do. Bottom line, the kids are happier and so are you! :rotfl:

My DD4 told us she wasn't spending any time in the club, because she wanted to do everything with us, translated to mean: Don't leave me! She thought this untillllll we watched part of the cruise DVD. Now, of course, she says she's in...or, I think her exact words were, "Boo-yah!" So, maybe in a year, she'll be really stoked to play and DH and I can have an hour here and there...:) DD7 has already staked a claim to the lab!

Please let us know how you liked the new dining times after your Nov cruise. I'm wondering if the really early ones will conflict with matinee shows??

Well I am back. The weddings are over. My neice was absolutely beautiful in both weddings. Now my sister and I can concentrate on the scrapbooking. It has been a rough few weeks. In the midst of final planning, my son decided to fall of his bike and destroy his ankle and lower leg. He had to have surgery on Wednesday (2 days before the first ceremony). They put in screws, pins and plates. Poor guy he was supposed to be in both ceremonies. He managed to be in one and went down the isle in a wheel chair. My neice was just thrilled he was there. They are more like brother and sister. Anyway with all the traveling up and down the coast, I am exhausted and managed to get strep throat the day after the wedding. Good news is, I have a few days extra off from work. I actually started putting away summer clothes and packing for our cruise next month.

Well that is all my excitement. I am ready for some veg time.

Pat the invite expired. Please resend.

See there has been a little activity since I was here last and some newbies. Welcome.

Glad to see everyone is doing well.

Dee, your sisters email won't accept Yahoo invites....see if she enters DIS-CircleDCL@yahoogroups.com in her address book if it will allow her to join....otherwise, go to yahoo.com and get another email...I WILL send the invite to her in a few minutes and see if she get it.....I am actually going to post on the craft/scrap board about the DCL :boat: CJ to see if any other want to join in....we are almost at 12 people,,,maybe we can get another group of 12 going.....
Glad the wedding :bride: went well,,,,,broken foot and all :confused3

I can ask one of the other two women in our group. I believe she is very interested in scrapbooking. I will shoot Nancy an email and get back to you tomorrow. I will get a hold of my sister as well.

I am getting excited about starting.

Great to hear you soooooo enthused :cool1:

Did I read something about a change in the dinner rotation or seating times? What's this all about? I have to start paying closer attention to what's happening around here! :cool1:

Worked on my basement most of the day. Did have to break in the heat of the day to watch the princesses swim. I tried to read Harry Potter. Didn't get too far w/ Jessica continually howling... watch me Mommy! Count for me Mommy! Dip me Mommy!

Perhaps tomorrow I'll visualize CC and it won't be so bad, looking at the rolly polies, digging out leaves from the skimmer, trying to be a fair judge in the dive board contest. :teeth: Perhaps I'll just go to bed right now and visualize it in the peace of my own bed!!

Nighty night! :wizard:

from what i understand, the early and the main seating have now turned into six seatings - the early seating has three seating times each 15 minutes apart and same with main seating

is that what you are referring to?

I ma not sure about this dining rotation thing. I must be tired. I will have to re-read this later.

Hey guys!

Just checking in again.... getting my quota in for the day. :cool1:

Hey Pat! read your list above; don't worry, the water was very cool on the family beach too for morning snorkelling! The twins lasted 3 minutes then high-tailed it to the Club!

Hi Y'all! I'm looking forward to the Magic's docking here soon for renovations. It makes me smile all morning when I drive past the DCL ships in drydock on my way to work! To you Dec 05 cruisers, make sure you have a toast to me!:earboy2:

Toast to you?? I plan on dancing the night away at the clubs and telling all the cm's that my name is poohjen  :rotfl: . That way, you will have a reputation by the time you get there! Or you could just go with us and start your own reputation. :cool1: :earboy2: (love you! stop throwing things at your screen :teeth: )

Hi Ho, Hi Ho...how Much Time Before We Go?

:sad1:
Just checking in with my fellow cruisers.
I am suffering Disney withdrawl. We do not have a Disney trip or cruise planned for this year. Fall is usually our travel time. It is very different to not have a fall Disney trip to research this time of year.
I even had a co-worker ask me this week if it isn't getting to be time for my Disney cruise. :rotfl:
I guess we are predictable.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Cool Linda! Just make sure Ed has his video camera out, and posts it to Hannomax for us all to enjoy!

hmmm, maybe he could have a "CruiseCam" with a live feed for those of us left behind... :confused3

Happy Talk Like a Pirate Day, y'all!...Aaaargghh pirate:
