November 11, 2006 - MAGIC - Special Western "Double Dip" Cruise 11/11/06

Hi guys, I posted this on the main board, but nobody seems to like replying to me. I figured this board is friendly, so I'm going to ask away here.

I tried to get Palo ressies but was shut out. So, every day I log in and try again. Well, today I get 4 for dinner at 8:30 on the 11th, the day we start our cruise. :cool1:

My questions for you veteran cruisers is, should I keep this ressie? What do I do with my boys, (11 & 8), and if I want to cancel this one, is there any chance I'll get another one?

Please help, I really want to do Palo with my wife, but I'm not sure about doing it on the first night.

Thanks!!!

Jack

::yes:: Don't you know when women become mom's they magically just KNOW this stuff. That's why I alway call SOMEONE's mom when I need to know the best way to take care of myself. ;)

Dude, your calendar makes me tired just reading it...but then I have to remember you are listing activities for a whole family. Just want to make sure you know some of those activities may be different times or locations on our cruise...

Here's what I'm HOPING is different for us from the previous double-dips:

NEW BAND! Haven't been hearing anything good about the current band on the Magic...though most of the negative reports have come from the first week they were on the ship...so maybe things will imporve by our cruise.

Docking in Cozumel, still holding out hope that the port will have a pier open (they claim October) and that the MAGIC will get it on our day. If so, this will most likely mean we will stay in port longer...enjoy the nightlife, not have to race back from excursions etc.

Well, boys and girls, it's a new week and a new opportunity to loose some weight and get a bit of exercise and maybe work a bit of overtime...all activities that will enhance my cruising experience :thumbsup2

See you in cyberspace!
Yea it is more of a list of things to do. Well that we want to do anyway. I have told every one that is on calendar that chances are that the time will be different.

Faireygodmother,
Do I need to order my rewards card THIS early????!!! I still have credits to earn!!! We're at about $300 but we can get more!

I ordered mine now so that we can allow for shipping and processing. You can add your points to your card at anytime, electronically. I should have the card in about a week. They offer an express shipping, but that costs 10.00 and I am cheap. The standard shipping is FREE. That 10.00 savings might allow me to buy a fellow Diser or two a drink :thumbsup2

Jack I would keep the ressie (just so you have something) and as soon as you get on board go (I think session or rockn D bar) and make your changes. As for the children, why can't they go to the clubs? I cannot remember if my DGD could last time or not. Maybe one of the more recent cruisers can ansewr that one, sorry.

Welcome, mrsgreenjeans...I think there are a few of your 11/12/05 cruisers on this cruise, too!

Peggy...glad to have your excited self back!!! And, happy to hear you'll be accompanying that crazy sis of yours to Vegas. Somebody has to keep an eye on her...I'm guessing she and Miss Dee could get into a little trouble without your careful guidance! (Yeah, right...watch out, Vegas, Peggy's on the loose!)

Anyone chatting tomorrow??

Oh, and having a little Cozumel anxiety here. Could anyone please share their tentative plans? I don't want to spend all day on the ship, but we've also opted out of the day long dune buggy excursion we had reserved. Just think that will be too much after a full-ish day in Costa Maya. And, we'd like the kids to be cheerful for the pirate dinner...not even planning on keeping them up for the pirate party. (Be nice if they do make it, though.) Oh, and just a note, Surly, is no help, either! He just keeps agreeing with everything I suggest! (Not complaining...I kind of like that!:))

Carolyn

Jack...Not a veteran cruiser here, but I like Dee's plan for trying to change your Palo reservation right after you board. That way you can spend the first night of your vacation together. Always time later in the week for the kids to have their own time and you can sneak in your own.

Carolyn

Dee, Thanks for the reply. I wasn't sure but I thought I read that the first night they don't have the kids club stuff. Maybe I got that wrong. As for changing my ressie, if I board and try to change the first night ressie, will I be hit with a charge for canceling less than 24 hours? That's part of why I'm not sure what to do.

Carolyn, thanks for your thoughts. The fact that it's our first night on board is part of the reason I want to change. But, when I was online and it poped up, I figured I should just book it and later cancel/change it.

Anyway, thanks for the help.

Welcome !!!! :thumbsup2 :welcome: Glad you are joining our fun cruising group!

Nice name by the way (my father's - hence my sister Jackie [ibouncetoo] who was named after him)!

We chat on Tuesday nights 7:00 p.m. Arizona time if you are interested I don't know much - since this is my first cruise let alone a DISNEY cruise - but my sister and others are FULL of helpful information!

Hottie Hubbie and I start ballroom dancing lessons tonight! (He's a pro, I'm an absolute rookie!) Hope there is somewhere to put it in use on the boat!!

Jack, you brought up a good point. I think we need to find out if the clubs are open the first night. PoohJen just got off the last dbl dip and I will ask her (unless she pop on over here and reads this and answers the question). If the clubs are not open then I would cancel and take my chances rebooking.

Let me PM PoohJen and ask her and will post later

DH and I tried that in college. Found out we both like to lead! :rotfl: It makes for some odd dancing. Good luck though, and have fun! :thumbsup2

Jack..I just received a PM from PoohJen and she said the clubs are open the first night and her children went. Hope this helps you out.

As I've said, "Peg, it will come back to you."

Now that song is going to be in my head all night! All day I was singing "All You Need Is Love" because we're going to Cirque to see LOVE! (It just took us a while to make up our minds).

okay...about DISTAG!!!! :thumbsup2

i think we will have a little gift for each room we tag...keep it simple and cheap!!! in the past we have given things like postcards from where you live, candy, bubbles, stickers, something little for pirate night and tie it up in a goodie bag to hang on the fish by the door....i personally spent about $1 per bag last year and filled it with lots of goodies from oriental trading and halloween sales!! think of all the sale candy!!!

if i had to guess, we will hopefully have about 15-20 rooms.....right now i have heard from about 8 but i expect that # to climb...i will hand out the DIStag info at the DISmeet in the promenade lounge at 3pm on sailaway day!!!

PM me to add yourself to the list!!!

Excellent choice! It has received wonderful reviews, and we will see it in a few weeks.

Dee, thanks a lot. And thank PohhJen for me. I think we are going to keep it for now, but I'm going to try and change it every day. Maybe I'll get lucky again!.

Jack

It's been awhile since I've been here, so I wanted to come back to say hi. DH and I took our first trip ever without the kids this summer, to London and Paris. DH did NOT let me go to Paris Disneyland. But I've finally finished planning that trip, and now it's on to the cruise!

I'm still trying to decide on excursions. We don't have any yet, but we did do the Chaccoben Ruins tour with Ivan and Dave last year, and it was the highlight of our trip. With two magical days at Castaway Cay, I'm not sure we want another beach day. Disney still seems to have a lot of excurions left to choose from. Has anyone done any of these previously, that they'd recommend? Of course, we could just enjoy some "private time" on the ship while everyone else is off playing.
