November 10, 2007 - MAGIC - Eastern

hey everyone....I hate to say this, but DH and I will no longer be traveling with you all. We can no longer stand to travel with Dmom and Dsis due to certain events that have taken place. I hate to not be able to go with you all since I have been looking so forward to this trip, but every penny we have, no matter how little, now has to be put towards other things. I hope you all have a great time.

Sorry that you won't be coming, I was looking forward to meeting you. Hope things improve soon for you.

Michele

Are we the only ones not to have our cruise docs yet?
You guys are making me nervous!!!

We didn't get them until around 2 weeks out last time, but it seems like everyone else here is already getting them!!!

We don't have our docs yet either, so don't feel bad! I actually called the travel agent because I was getting paranoid given that everyone here seemed to have theirs. She emailed me that they came to her last night and she is sending them this morning. So we probably won't have ours for another day or two at least.

I was going to post this on the main board, but preferred to check in here with friends before I do that. My son has reflux and the GI doctor just changed his reflux medication to Nexium capsules. Before we were on the dissolving prevacid, so I never needed to do anything to it. Now, I have to open the pills, divide the teeny capsules inside in half and then mix it with something to get him to take it. This is a child that only eats foods that are brown or white (no veggies, fruits, or anything sweet here, just the carb and nuggets diet if you please!) so after some trial and error, I got him to take the meds with drinkable yogurt. He did take the meds once with cottage cheese, but was not happy about it and I can't afford to have him stop eating cottage cheese because it is one of the few proteins he eats.

Anyway, to make a long story even longer, I plan to do a grocery stop on our way to the Raddison at the Port to get the drinkable yogurt. My questions are: will the stateroom fridge keep this cold enough? If not, do you think the stateroom host would bring it to the kitchen for me as it is for medication? If that doesn't work, worst case I can do the cottage cheese thing, but I don't know if they have it on board. Do any of you experienced cruisers recall if they have cottage cheese on the buffets?

Any help would be appreciated!

We have not received our cruise documents yet either! I called the TA yesterday and they said they would call as soon as they come in. What exactly are inside these documents? Can't wait! Only 17 more sleeps!!!

I cannot tell you by experience, but I read someplace that if you have medications that needs some special attention, you will be provided a small fridge, a real one.

Hello. I haven't really checked in for a while. Wow... the closer we get the more talkative everyone becomes:) . We got our cruise documents yesterday. I am getting really excited! My goal is to be completely packed by Oct. 31st. ( I am one of those up until 2am the night before we leave still packing kind of people:eek: ).
I have read the boards but can someone give me a summary on the dis tag and also the Ebay Id for the person that makes the fish extenders. Is it too late to participate in this?
Does everyone put magnets on their doors with their family name?
Thanks, Heidi

I don't think they would keep the yogurt cold enough but like FrenchSnowWhite said, you can call and tell DCL you need a fridge for medical reasons and they will provide one. I would try to call in advance and tell them. You may have to provide documentation...dr's note....but it shouldn't be a problem :)

Buf68, sorry to see you go! I hope everything works out for you :goodvibes

I think the black tennis shoes are a great idea! In fact you reminded me that I need to get something for my little guys too. I just bought them button down shirts, with neckties and black cords. So I probably will do the same thing with the tennis shoes!

We've been on fire watch for the past almost 24 hours! :scared1: Last night, we almost decided to voluntarily evacuate, since the flames and smoke were so close. But for us it seems like the worse has passed. But the fires have been definitely BAD here in Southern California!

So i've lost a couple of days here of prepping for the trip...but i'll be back in the swing of things soon i hope!

Our AAA agent called and said our paperwork is in :woohoo: so hopefully I can pick that up soon!

Anyone have any good transportation companies to get from the airport to the Port Canaveral Radisson? I need to book that asap...i almost forgot!
Trisha, we're keeping your family in our thoughts! :goodvibes What a frightening thing to live through!

WOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
They're here! They're here!!!
:woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

They must've come while we were at swimming class this morning!!

Yay!!!
Oh my gosh I am so behind on getting ready for this cruise! lol...

The docs make it real, don't they?
:cheer2: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cloud9: :cheer2:

Oh man, I'm the only one still without docs! :)

Thanks to French Snow White and Stimpy for the advice on the fridge - I'll probably call tonight.

You are not alone, I still have not received docs, but the travel agent called today to say she received them, so they should arrive tomorrow! Finally! I'm sure you will get yours soon.

You're not the only one who hasn't received your cruise docs - I still haven't gotten ours yet either. But my AAA travel agent called me yesterday to tell me she'd received them, and she's FedEx-ing them to me. I should have them by Thursday or Friday!! :cool1:

On another note, I just wanted to say that although I haven't been as active on this thread as some of you, I still hope to meet everyone on board. If I can manage to haul my derriere out of bed that early, I will try to join those of you who are walking on sea days. My teenage sons and DH are just not into the whole Disney thing, and don't have any interest in the get-togethers, fish extenders, etc. So out of respect for them (and gratitude that they still let me book a Disney cruise anyway!!), I've been keeping a low profile. That said, I will be looking for green mardi gras beads on the ship... :thumbsup2

Okay, this is a weird one...
Is anyone else's spouse not so big on the whole "let's hang with the other DISers" concept?

My DH is humoring me - but keeps telling me "we're not going to spend our entire vacation with these other people... kay?"
And I keep trying to tell him that I'm excited to meet you all but that you'll be vacationing with your own families, thanks, and that this isn't like we're all committing to spend every moment with each other... lol

So am I alone with the overly-cautious spouse?

Nope you're not the only one in this situation...:sad2:

My DH wants me all to himself:love: ;) :rolleyes1 :lmao:

Buy the way, on your door magnet will you put your disboard name so we can identify each other??????:grouphug:

How old are your DS's, and will they be going to the stack at all? I have a 13 y/o DS, but he's quite into Disney. In 5th grade, he had to write an essay on his perfect day, and let's just say he made his mother proud.:lmao: I believe it was the precursor to the year(s) of a million dreams.

Family feels the same way. On our first cruise, no one would go to the meet with me. Last year, I made them come, and they all actually met people that we would see without the cruise.

First and formost, this is a family vacation. I would not alter plans that I had with my family to spend with DISers. However, on a ship with 2000 - 3000 other people, it is wonderful (?magical) to be able to walk around and say hi to people that you "know". Each family is there to have their own vacations, but it just adds a little bit of magic to the whole experience.

That being said, I'm looking forward to sharing little bits of magic with all of you!:grouphug:
