November 10, 2007 - MAGIC - Eastern

And after that mushiness, I just want to say that:banana:  I got all of my paperwork printed out today, and as everyone came home from school/work, i made them sign forms. I can't wait to go.

Lauri: One DS is 13, the other 15, so yes, they will be spending a lot of time in the Stack. I really don't expect to see much of them at all except at dinner and maybe a couple of the shows. I think my 13-year old will also like Ocean Quest, and will probably go between the two locations, depending on how many kids his age are around.

I think they'll have a GREAT time (at least I hope so!!), and I wouldn't have booked the cruise otherwise. They're just at an age where they think Disney characters are embarrassing and lame. And my husband would prefer to spend the entire cruise in the engine room....:rotfl2: I agree with what you said about the extra "magic" and hope to be able to say hi to all of you at some point during the cruise. :flower3:

Hey gang! I'm about to print an other door magnet, and I want to know if you're gonna but your dis-name on it???;)

Gee, my DIS name? I don't want to give away my real identity:rotfl: .

Seriously, I've seen door signs with both.

I have Mickey head magnets with each of our names on it that I use on our door from cruise to cruise.

Okay, this is a weird one...
Is anyone else's spouse not so big on the whole "let's hang with the other DISers" concept?

My DH is humoring me - but keeps telling me "we're not going to spend our entire vacation with these other people... kay?"
And I keep trying to tell him that I'm excited to meet you all but that you'll be vacationing with your own families, thanks, and that this isn't like we're all committing to spend every moment with each other... lol

So am I alone with the overly-cautious spouse?
My husband really doesn't have a clue what the DIS is all about and that is OK. He doesn't need to. This is my family vacation and I expect that I will spend a majority of my time having fun with my family. However, it will be nice seeing the faces of everyone we have been chatting with. Running into new friends on excursions is a bonus. I will play it by ear but would certainly love to chat with people from all over the country and Canada.

. . . Thanks to French Snow White and Stimpy for the advice on the fridge - I'll probably call tonight.
As an alternative or backup, consider bringing a small soft-sided cooler. Your room steward will bring ice daily to your cabin.

You can also use the cooler when bringing the yogurt onboard, though they will not allow ice when going through security.

For those wanting a short DIS meet on embarkation day at 3:00 p.m., we should finalize the location.

If the weather is good, we will meet near one of the pools. We need to decide which one -- Mickey's Kids Pool or Goofy's Family Pool?

Of the weather is not up to par, we will meet at the Promenade Lounge (on deck 3).

A good location (where we met last year) was the drink station by the Mickey pool. That way there is no confusion on where by the pools. Also that way the kids can be using the slide while the grownups wait for each other. How does that sound?

I do have one that has my Dis name on it. Made by Pat....THANKS!

I didn't put my Dis name on mine - Phelps is my maiden name and I never legally changed when we got married. While hubby is pretty good natured about it, I know it bugs him a bit, so I try not to put Phelps (or Phelpsie in this case) on anything family related. ;) Anyway, if anyone is looking for us, our door sign has our family name on it- Orszak.

Thanks Woody, I do have a small cooler I can bring. Will they allow me to bring a small cold pack onboard, or is that the same as ice to them?

Yndy, Lauri, Cheryl, I'm right with you on the whole Dis meet thing - this is a family vacation, but I would love to meet others and have some friends onboard to chat with. I have a feeling I am going to be doing the different activities alone, since my husband just wants to chill, and my son constantly informs me that he wants to be in the club where no grownups are allowed. :rotfl: So I think it will be nice to see friendly faces at the different talks/tours, etc on board, but I don't expect that all of us will be hanging out together during the cruise. The funny thing about this whole thing is that I am the shy one, my husband is more social, so I think he finds it funny that I have made friends already when normally he is the one who meets people when we go anywhere.

Also, as to the meet on the first day, I know that other than the club, my son wants to do the Mickey slide most of all, so I know that's where we'll be that day!

I do not know if they allow cold packs. I would not chance it. Besides, you won't need them onboard and it's just another thing to pack to bring home.

Instead, I would put ice in zip lock bags, then toss them before going through security.

Sounds good to me. Any other suggestions before we decide?

Finally got our docs today! Yeah! It does make it all seem real. So much to do before we go. I really think I must be crazy trying to bring my 5 month old. But, if we didn't take this trip we would have lost all our $ since we are staying in a suite.

You know what's funny Michele, I have the exact same feeling. I think Mark and I will be wanting to do different things and that's OK too as long as we get some time together. This vacation is what you make of it. If he wants to spend all day at the BB courts...cool. I will be chilling, taking a galley tour, playing bingo, getting a massage or whatever else I want to do. My kids are big time swimmers and I am sure we will spend a lot of time there as long as the crowds are not too bad. I just read someones comment on another thread that said she wished she knew that the pools were so crowded. Eeek  So lets live it up. If there are others Dis'ers around then great! I would love to meet everyone at some time onboard. It has been very nice listening to everyone advice and sharing the excitement leading up to our trip. :disrocks:

I called DCL, and they said that the fridge should keep everything cold enough. Not what I've read elsewhere, but oh well. I asked about a cold pack, and they told me the cold pack would be allowed, but not a soft sided cooler. UGH. I think I'll use your ziploc/ice idea and pack the yogurt in a plastic grocery bag. Thanks for the tip! :goodvibes If I add more ice after we board it should hold up until we get in our room. I suppose I also have two weeks to find something else to mix his meds with that won't cause all this rigamarole. :thumbsup2

Cheryl, I totally agree with your post!! DH and I aren't the types that have to be with each other every waking moment, but we have some together stuff planned, which will be nice. On the other hand, I have tons of stuff on my list that I know he won't do, like the galley tour (see you there!), the dessert demonstration (I love to bake), and all the fun Disney things.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed that the pools aren't as crowded as I've heard. Connor loves the water but hasn't fully learned to swim, and he hates to have help so he tends to go under quite a bit. I'm always in the water with him, and usually he wears a swim vest, but if its crowded that worries me. Which reminds me, have to pack the swim vest. I am going to have to get bigger suitcases! :lmao:

Michele,
How about Motts Strawberry Applesauce? My kids love that and it need no refrigeration.
