November '08 ~ What Do You Mean It's Over? Should we plan another???

Count us in, November 7-10, quick trip since everyone is in Middle School now and it's harder to catch back up. We're staying at the Beach Club, first time there although we have had several YC stays. Bringing DD13s best friend for her first trip so it'll be fun!

I think that our home in the New Orleans area is okay. We don't have power though, so we are going to stay in Destin until Thursday. Thankfully, the storm did not appear too bad for our area. Thank you for all of the well wishes!

Driving straight through with no stops is anywhere between 10-12 hours depending on construction and what time of the day we hit certain places. I am hoping I can get all the way through Alabama/ Georgia without stopping. The kids should sleep through the whole first half of the trip so then we can stop for breakfast right into Florida.

Hello, we are going on 3rd november to the 17t november, staying at qip, on i-drive. We stay there everytime we go! Is anyone else going round that time??? xxxx

Update: Due to a few reasons (mainly airfare and $$) we have had to revamp our November Trip. We are now going to be there November 12th-18th and we are now staying at Pop Century. I'm a little bummed about not staying at POFQ but I know we will still have fun at Pop.

Now I am trying to get in on one of the Fridge swaps and a Photo share.

If we lived any farther away, we would definitely be flying. Last time we drove this far with the kiddos was when we went to DW in 2000. Our youngest wasn't even born and our oldest 2 were 4 and 2. Surprisingly they rode really well then. I doubt it will be quite as easy this time.

Do you have any DVD players or a laptop? Movies help for my two, along with iPods and Disney trivia books. We're in West Central GA and our drive is around 7 hours. THis time it'll be 2 13 year olds and an 11 year old, we're taking DDs best friend. I think we'll leave around 6 AM putting us there around 1 or so. Thankfully they'll sleep for a while so none of the whining.

Do you have any DVD players or a laptop? Movies help for my two, along with iPods and Disney trivia books. We're in West Central GA and our drive is around 7 hours. THis time it'll be 2 13 year olds and an 11 year old, we're taking DDs best friend. I think we'll leave around 6 AM putting us there around 1 or so. Thankfully they'll sleep for a while so none of the whining.

Yep, and we use the laptop or the old Car VCR on all trips over a couple hours away. But I don't think it will work for much longer than that. I do have some travel games for the kids they ae new just for this trip. So hopefully that will pass some time.

If you have the AC power cord you can purchase a power inverter at WalMart or Lowe's for anywhere from $20 on up (depends on the number of watts you need to power). You plug that into your cigarette lighter and then the power plug into that. We run the laptop all the way with it (my battery is dead). We also had to use one after the cigarette plug was slammed in the car door (that's another story though). DD13 asked the other day if we could get a powerful enough inverter so that she could use her CHI straightener while we're driving down! DH just shook his head in disgust

With us by the time we hit I 75 in Tifton (about 2.5 hours from home) it's "how much longer, what's for lunch (dinner, whatever) I'm bored, change the radio, etc. I'm not looking forward to this trip with three tween/teenage girls in the car. Especially the BFF, she's a bit of a nut case, burping, laughing, etc.

HOLY MACKREL!!!! My ticker says 1 month 29 days!!!! O-N-E MONTH!!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!! Love seeing that first thing in the morning after a long weekend! I never thought it would say 1 month.

Oh and a house update... We spoke with our mortgage broker because the last thing we need is for the loan paperwork to get done and then we can close. (we put in our agreement that we have the right to close on OR BEFORE 9/19) According to him it will most likely be done by the end of this week! So i got right on the phone and called our realtor and let her know that I want to close ASAP once we have the commitment letter of a loan from the bank. I'm convinced our realtor cringes when she sees my number... she always use to answer my calls.... now i get sent to voice mail.
