Thanks for the invite to the thread princesskayla. This is all a little overwhelming to me but here goes. We are traveling as a party of 12 but my family is a party of 4. DH, DD 6 and DD who will turn 3 on Nov.6. We are from Canada and never cruised or taken a family trip. I would have love FE as I am a paper crafter but maybe next time. We will be in DL 2 days prior and all we need is our park tickets and transportation from LAX. I could not keep the secret from my family and we are all so excited. We are doing the pirate ship in PV and the Mexican Fiesta and Folklore also know as the Mild Mexican Outback adventure in Cabo. I have red no reviews on the later so we may cancel. Can't wait to meet everyone. Only 16 more days!!
Do any of you repeat DCLers know if they sell packages of minutes for wireless access? I know they list minutes for 75 cents each using the "internet cafe", but I wondered about getting some for using our laptop.
I am hopeless with sewing, though I do own a sewing machine (for seam repairs and such). BUT, tonight on my way home from work, I went to Joann's and got some background material and two different Disney themed materials for the two pockets and some iron on letters for our names, plus a wooden dowel to hang my creation from.
This being said, I will give it the old college try!!
I don't have ANY prior experience with this exchange. I have my goodies lined up now, but am worried I haven't really "done it right"...

I can't believe how quickly the cruise is approaching. I haven't found nearly enough time to visit the Disboards.
Most of our plans are scheduled. We made dining "reservations" for Colors of Wonder seating on Saturday before we embark and Steakhouse We just need to finalize airport and hotel transfers and our Paramout Studios tour after the cruise.
For all the first timers, your cabin door is magnetic. Many people decorate their doors so they are easier to find and feel more personal.
Things I may have missed:
Did anything ever come of the postcard/recipe exchange? For those interested, that might be a good idea as a FE gifts one night.
Did we decide on a name for our group?
I'll try to get on a lot more frequently over the next month. Looking forward to meeting you all.
Lisa

I would love to premeet at Disneyland. Downtown Disney sounds just fine. I know that some of us are going to Worlds of Color that night. However, I am not sure that would be a good idea to include my kiddos. They won't know about the cruise then.Do you want to do a meet up at Disneyland the night before? I know others have mentioned it and I think it's a great idea. I was think we could all meet someplace at Downtown Disney.
Love it! Olay!I think our Group name should be Mickey's Mexican Fiesta! What do you think?

I guess it's better to join the party late than to not join at all?We will be a party of 4: Me, DH, DS age 9 and DD age 4. This is our first Disney cruise. We have tried to keep it a secret but I think my DS is on to us. I don't know how well we have covered all of the slip ups!
A question for the Disney veterans:
1. What is the scoop on formal nights? I have heard that there aren't any "official" formal nights. I plan on dressing up for our reservations at Palo (because I never have an excuse to get that fancy!) but my husband wants to know if he should pack his tuxedo for a formal night. He likes to wear it, but only if everyone else is spiffed up too.

Yippee
We are going all out for Formal night. I ordered formal dresses for the girls and a tux for my son - (who is 9 as well) My husband is renting a tux and I have a formal gown I got from ebay for $16.the formal night is listed in the navigators for the second night. Not everyone dresses to the nine but some do. We are also going all out for pirate night with full pirate gear for everyone.
Glad to see some new cruisers. Welcome aboard! How are you going to suprise the kids? We are suprising our kids as well. It is also our first Disney cruise and I couldn't be more excited. I know that everyone shares that feeling!
This one's for you!!!I went to go see the ship today!

My plan is to tell them that we are running some errands (which they hate) and then when we have been in the car long enough that they wonder what is going on, we are telling them that we are going to Disneyland (which we will do on Saturday). Then the next morning instead of driving home, we are just going to drive to the port and let them see the ship.No explanation will be necessary at that point!
They are very confused why I bought Pirate costumes but they are dressing up as something else for Halloween. I didn't want them to get ruined before our trip!
We have no problem dressing up (fancy or otherwise). On some of our last cruises we did "Creative Facial Hair Night" for the guys and "Ugly Sweater Night" for everyone. We go to dinner dressed up and the wait staff gets to declare a winner of the best costume, who then gets a small trophy. Unfortunately we couldn't get a big group to go with us this time so we won't be having any theme nights.
Is anyone interested in getting together for a Settlers of Catan game when our kids ditch us to go to the Oceaneer Club?
