Nov. 24, 2010 4 Day Wonder Turkey Cruise!

Hello! I am a newbie...which is kinda funny to hear come out of my mouth. I am a regular on other forums and even know Pete, but never hopped on his forums. We just signed up for the Turkey Day cruise and thought this would be fun to hop on and meet some new Disney friends on this cruise.

Am I took late for the FE? I have 2 adults/2 kids (6 & 4). We are in stateroom #2231.

Thanks!

Allison

Welcome to the Turkey cruise Allison! I also hang out in the Dis Camping Forum.

Ok, it seems like we have a few new faces! I am compliling the FE list, so if you have not already sent it to me, please PM me your name, the names of your travel party and ages of kids. Also let me know your stateroom number if you have it!

Should we give a cutoff date on the FE exchange? I'll wait to see who responds to this final request today and then will send out an updated list to everyone tomorrow. That way we can really start planning.

Hey Jennifer,

I have two packs of crayons that someone lovingly created for a FE thing a few years ago. I was suppose to take my neice with me on a cruise and at the very last minute she couldn't get out of school. So, I got a few trinkets sweetly delivered to my my DH & I's cabin that I have been giving away over the years. Anyway, it's just DH and I on this cruise, so I don't really want to particpate (good luck finding my cabin on deck 6 anyway). But, I would really love to share these two gifts for your exchange. One is a handmade Peter Pan crayon pack and the other is Belle and the Beast. I'll be happy to bring them onboard with me. Just tell me if ya'll want them and what to do with them. :)

We are getting excited.
Our little one is marking off the days on the calendar and we are getting FE gifts ready.

See everyone soon.
Steven

I have scheduled Mickey Mouse to call our house tonight.... This is a fun thing to do. By logging into the Disney Cruise Line Website you can schedule a call from various Disney Favorites. You can choose from Mickey, Goofy, Ariel and others. It will allow you to choose the date and time of your call. This is a fun way to get the kids excited.

I do believe I am the most excited one in our house right now !!!

Wendy

Hi Wendy,

I have ten posts now so I can PM you about the FE :)
Yippy! Steven

Just finished the 10 pages...yes, I am a lil excited

Tangled - DD informed me that we will get to see it on the ship.

Aquaventure - the downlow
We have done this several times but never as an excursion.
With 6 people, the excursion $$ is out of the question.
We have always booked Comfort Suites or Atlantis for the night.
Comfort suites is the ONLY hotel you can book that will give you full access to Atlantis (besides Atlantis of course).
Book a room and Save lots of $$

We have 2 rooms booked at Atlantis for our Dec. cruise.
On this Thanksgiving / Birthday cruise, I think we will stay low on Nassau day. Maybe walk around a little but thats about it.

Hmmm...all these late additions from Central Florida...sigh, but no Florida resident rates this time...discounts to other categories though...but cannot complain as we have had Florida resident rates I think 7 times out of 11 so far and other than first cruise, have booked every cruise while on the ship for that discount.

That said, if you want to be in FE, please let Jennifer know asap so that she can post final list in next couple days so everyone has time to obtain FE goods...candidly, at this point, I have no idea how many families are participating, though it is nice to see that it is certainly more than the 5 we had a couple weeks ago.

Hmmm...all these late additions from Central Florida...sigh, but no Florida resident rates this time.:

As of right now Nov 14, 18, and 28th offer FL and military rates.

Honestly, I dont think the FL rate will come out for the 24th.
Since they offered the TA discount on the 24th, I think they got the bookings they needed.

Sorry forgot to add:

Jennifer, we would also love to do the FE goodies.
I also only have only a few posts and can not pm you.
I know I am going to drive myself crazy last minute shopping and I hope I can find a FE! We just moved 3 weeks ago so I have no idea where it is

I know they offered TA for the 24th and no I don't think there will be Florida resident and I think there is another category that got opened for our cruise too, though I have not confirmed it...but yes we are a pretty full ship now and that is good...

Well the only downside that I can think of to having Palo for T'Giving is that you will likely miss either a traditional meal (if you want one) or miss out on some of Palo's specialties....also, if, like us, you are also doing the brunch on Friday for the day at sea, back-to-back Palo meals can be hard on the stomach due to the quantity you are likely to consume...

Thus we have Palo brunch on Friday and dinner on Saturday...also, one can easily do both palo and Pirate's Night so long as you sit down to eat by about 8pm...we have done that before...though personally, I can limit Pirate's to the last 10 minutes or so...but then this is our 11th Disney cruise..

Chuck:cool1:

I have never had a CON of eating at Palo's. It is always wonderful. It was even more so on Thanksgiving several years ago. They had several additional specials on the menu.

Wendy

Wendy and Chuck,

Thanks for the thoughts. We will be eating at Palo's for Thanksgiving. :)

Count us in on the FE's! It's me, DH and our DD (age 3). Can't wait!

I had started compiling a list from people who had sent me a PM back in August...but I only have 4 families (including us) on that list. If you haven't sent me a PM yet, let me know your info and I can put a full list together to see where we stand so far? I'll send it to everyone participating so that we all have the details.

Jennifer

Hi Everyone.

My family and I will be taking our first Disney Cruise and would like to participate in the FE. We are sailing on November 24, 2010. I am new to the boards so not sure what I need to do so that we can participate.
We have one daughter age 8.
Thank you!
Alison

LOL! I did this for myself when I saw the option as I was finishing up our online check in. Mickey should be calling me the Sunday before we sail on the ship. I am such a Disney nut! LOL!

We just booked our cruise last Tuesday and had Mickey call our daughter to share the news that we were going on a Disney cruise for Thanksgiving. She was so excited she didn't stop screaming for 10 minutes! I highly recommend the call.
:)

I was able to grab one of the TA bookings last week. It looks like the TA bookings sold fast and we have a full ship. We are very excited to be taking our first Disney cruise!

Do many people dress up for Pirate's night? This is our first cruise and we found tons of pirate costumes and gear super cheap after Halloween.

Has anyone purchased the photo credits before the cruise? My husband and I are trying to decide if the purchasing the photo credits will be cheaper than purchasing photos on the cruise. We are hoping to get some good family photos on the cruise.
thanks.

Hi gtali97
Welcome!
Pirate night - on my past DCL cruises we have done the 7 nighter and many pep dressed up. Our first, our entire family did. After that, only the kids dressed up. All up to you!

photo credits, it will save you a lil $$. I guess it all depends on how many pics you will buy. Our first few cruises, my entire bill was pictures. :eek:I have gotten better control now. DCL is really good about letting you use your own camera to take pics. So I now take advantage of that!

I too am new to this thread and we also want to join in on the FE exchange.
I came across quiet a few great items today. Getting the list would be great so I can match kids and age gifts. No luck with finding my FE so guess I will have to come up with an idea within the next couple of weeks. :confused3

A few adults, but not many will dress up for Pirate's night....though many will have a Pirate's Tshirt or the like...

As to photos, we suggest buying the base package on the ship, and then adjusting or modifying same depending on how many pictures you ultimately choose to buy...

As to FE, I have even seen a Publix bag for an FE, though i do not recommend that one

Thanks so much! I am afraid with this being our first Disney cruise we will end up going overboard with pictures.
